Whisky .com reviews the Bowmore 18 years. This bottling replaces the well-known 17-year-old Bowmore. It is finished in Oloroso Sherry casks.
The nose:
Sherry, distant peat, fruity, sweet

This one is absolutely magical. Tried it tonight at a celebration dinner for my wife. The thing I really loved about it was the beautiful balance of the different notes and especially the hint of sea salt. Love that salted caramel taste you can find in certain choice single malt scotches. Great review as always!

Just picked a bottle of Bowmore 18yo today. Can't wait to sample a dram (..or two). High expectations for this one after 15yo darkest which was quite lovely. Thanks for a good review.

@@DavidC1 Yes, it was fantastic. Nose and taste were delightful. Very aromatic whisky. Even if it is colored and chillfiltered.
Fantastic malt. The intro says it all! Such complexity and finish with this one.

This is one of my favourite at the moment and so mellow but still smoky and peaty
I think coloring the whisky makes it better, you have a perception of whats to come! The taste matches the color

The thing with saying "X euros/pounds/dollars" is that a whiskey which costs about 70 euros there will cost about 110 dollars here in the US, so there is quite a difference.
+CockatooDude -- Yes, I have always found that annoying. Horst seems like someone who would be sufficiently on the ball to know that pounds, euros and American dollars are not the same, or even that close, in value.

It's annoying that they add colour to an 18 year old whisky.
Bowmore are one of the worst offenders in this respect. They really overdo beyond the point where they can pretend it is about equalising batches.

This is a miracle, the regular price for this whisky went down 20$ here, not even a special. I don't know if Bowmore suddenly found thousands of barrrels hidden somewhere, but I think I'll load a bottle or two.

Horst can you please tell us how you compare the BOWMORE 18 YEAR DEEP & COMPLEX to this standard 18 your tasting here ???
One of my favourite distillery from islay. Why they have to colour there whisky? I hope they not coloring they special release like the Devil cask Series, or the 25 small batch, or the 23 pot 1989, or simply they vault series.
When are you going to review Lagavulin 12?
I don't know about this one. I tried it, tastes like Bacardi's White Rum...

Is the Bowmore 25 far better or?
Yes it is. it is sublime
My dad prefers the Bowmore 25. I am on the fence on this one. I would of said Bowmore 18 is better but as I am growing older, I seem to like more and more the 20+ year Scotches.
Well the question should be, is it worth the extra price?
Bowmore 25, doesn't express the same sherry notes as the 18 and it's partner the 15. Something to be aware of, it was made different from these ranges.
Bowmore is okay. It's kind of an all-purpose scotch. Nothing stands out. It has a bit of everything. I'd rather have the Arran 10 (which is cheaper in Canada), or spend a few dollars more (CAN$8) for a Glenfarclas 12.
Bowmore would probably good with a chargrilled rib steak.

I have to totally disagree with you on this particular whisky, The first 2 to 3 classes are okay but as you get into the bottle it loses something it’s not a good whiskey for the price
