But Lucas ran away due to fear. Which The Hermit bascially funneled him into getting hit by the train lol

When I saw ''Tarot'' in theaters with my friends, I had a feeling we'd see Paxton again after the scene with The Fool, and if I ain't mistaken, two things: One - I'm guessing the reason they didn't want him to die in this film was probably because since he did great in Tom Holland's Spider-Man, they didn't want the actor's character to die in any other film And two - I think they say everyone loves surprises, so they decided to trick the audience into making them think he really did get killed by The Fool
Well, it also kinda makes sense that he'd survive the Fool. Tarot (the cards, not the movie) tells the story of the Fool's Journey as he encounters/experiences the other 21 Major Arcanas, from the Magician all the way to The World. Paxton got The Fool, so it's pretty clear that he'd survive till the end of the story.
But you would know that the fool was already onto Paxton before they defeated the witch and you could tell because when his friends tried to contact him it switch to voice-mail because Paxton was already being hunted by the fool which cut his connections
