Yeah, I absolutely loved him. I think it was a great idea not to try to replace Michael Scott like-for-like (because let’s face it, he’s irreplaceable), but rather bring in someone who created a completely different dynamic in the (O)ffice. My favourite bit with him was when you thought he was going to fuck Erin, but instead made sure she got home safely from the party. Because he was “a ride she wouldn’t survive.”
I love him so much James Spader is definitely sweet man who enjoys playing villains but he makes the characters so likable you wanna dislike them but you simply can't Robert California walked so Raymond Reddington could run
His subtle lines like when his wife was trying to work there and he was trying to get out of an uncomfortable situation he just stands up and says "well I better head over to the ATM before the homeless guy sets up camp there for the night'
He was only there for one season but he was my easily my favorite character in the whole show, second only to Michael Scott. I dream of a world where they could have gotten at least a few scenes together.
The owner of the company I work for is actually, literally, the same character as Robert California and it’s both terrifying and awe inspiring simultaneously.
I like to think that Robert California was just an alias for a younger Raymond Reddington to take over a paper company in order to funnel his money into and mask his life of crime. I will always enjoy his character in The Office regardless of the negative feedback he got from other viewers.
the way robert referred andy as a person who can unusually inspire people was so on the nose when andy got them to work harder than ever before because of the incentive program
Creed and Ryan understand… I’ve been in many jobs where some type of “Oracle” figures were suddenly place I know the walk in confidence, the catchphrases, and of course the eye contact.
He and Jan were the greatest supporting characters on the show. James and Melora played on the same show actually "The Family Tree" it was so long ago, and it was cancelled. Anyway they have this charisma about them, they can be more interesting than more popular characters.
Robert California has got to be one of the most disturbing characters on the show even out doing Todd Packard but He is also one of the most amusing ones too. Doesn't matter shat ya would say or do her neve4 be uncomfortable with it.
I feel like Clark and Peter could have filled the voids that Darryl and Jim would have left, and with all the new characters that appeared in the end, it felt like if The Office went to Season 10, then imagine: Clark and Peter in an Office, run by Dwight, with David Wallace in charge of Dunder Mifflin again, although I guess Peter and Erin aren't Jim and Pam, but who knows man
While it is true that season 8 had a noticeable drop-off in overall quality, it wasn’t because of bad comedic writing or acting. Robert California is one of the most insane and outrageous characters ever and James Spader does such an unbelievable job with Robert California’s quirks. The delivery of his lines, the bobble-head schtick, the lip licking, the super intense stares, it’s all gold. I’m sure we’ve all tried to pretend to be the actor playing the character like John Krasinski playing Jim glancing at the camera, but pretending to be Spader playing Robert is impossible. He’s so weird😂 My fav Robert line is 2:40 lmao And why is Phyllis’s cough in the first clip so funny? She’s coughing INTO her desk drawer and holding onto it for leverage? 😂😂😂
Robert: Jim, your daughter, Cecilia. What does she think of the street? Jim: Uh.. the street? R: Sesame Street. J: Oh, I didn't know anyone called it- She likes it a lot. She... loves Elmo. R: God save us! The Elmo era. J: Right. R: Sesame Street was created to reflect the environment of the children watching it. Complete self-absorption of Elmo is brilliantly reflective of our time. Ours is a cultural ghetto. Wouldn't you agree? J: Yeah. She does like Elmo.
I know everyone hated him but I loved his character he was so fuckin weird lmaooo
Him and Gabe are the best characters of the show IMO
Lmao he was and I loved it.
@@asqwert2121 💀🤡
I could watch a show with him as the manager all day lol.
I liked this character. So weirdly intense. Lmao
So confidently eccentric to the point that he actually overwhelms normal social interactions with his own frame...genius
Also self-centred af
@@li-ham803 that's literally part of his wicked genius. He's one of the best parts of the entire series
its cause his weirdness draws attention and he is their boss
@@SPACEDOUT19 he did it in the interview too, literally from scratch and the power dynamic was against him actually
Every scene with Robert California was gold, he was like a young Creed when Creed was a cult leader lmao
You have more fun as a follower but you make more money as leader
@@BirdGang6 facts 💯🙌
He was more like an older, more powerful version of New York Ryan
Just wait till he starts sprouting mung beans in his desk
@@Joe_Parmesanidk hes like some mix of both. Hes too eccentric to be like an older more successful Ryan, but still too normal to be a younger Creed
he speaks so softly... but with so much authority...
When you interview Robert California, your company is the candidate.
"I'm the fuckin' Lizard King."
Way more terrifying than him as Ultron.
Didn’t even realize he was Ultron. Now I can’t rewatch that Avengers without thinking about Robert California lol
@@chemdaddy602 I honestly believe Ultron was inspired by Robert California. I believe Spader plays California in real life
RedLetterMedia did a mash up of Robert California lines as said by Ultron. It ruled.
His confidence and dynamic met with an undeniable madness from society is just pure genius character writing.
“Does my turmoil amuse you, Jim?” I can’t wait to use that one.
You’d have to be an intense and serious guy for it to take effect
The first time I saw that scene I laughed with tears!!! 😂😂😂😂
"Why is Jim treating the magician poorly....?"
Top 5 lines in the entire series
@@MrDamnChild easily
Man I don’t recall if I ever watched that episode but what is the context lol?
@@jasonsan6708jim treated the magician poorly
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 one of his best lines EVER ❤
3:23 “Florida is America’s basement.” I’ve never loved a TV character more than I love Robert California
He's definitely not wrong lol
It's so true
Truer now more than ever
Robert California would crush as a real estate agent
5:49 it's the cadence in his speech that makes this line so perfect
I don’t care what anyone says Spader did an incredible job as this character. Wildly entertaining.
Yeah, I absolutely loved him. I think it was a great idea not to try to replace Michael Scott like-for-like (because let’s face it, he’s irreplaceable), but rather bring in someone who created a completely different dynamic in the (O)ffice.

There’s this guy at my work from corporate, and his mannerisms are almost identical to Robert’s and it’s so trippy
I can't unsee Raymond reddington, in any role he's done
The owner of the company I work for is actually, literally, the same character as Robert California and it’s both terrifying and awe inspiring simultaneously.
3:30 I'm 100% with Dwight on his response 🤣🤣🤣
Most unhinged character on the show. I love him.
0:45 kills me
And Charles Darwin runs every office 😂
I just noticed 0:39 Stanley smiling, like he knows what he’s talking about
"A case of Australian reds and Colombian whites" chuckles, creed and ryans facial expressions. hahah dead 🤣
Favorite character of all time.
I can't help but picture Ultron whenever I see him. And by contrast, whenever I see Ultron, I picture Robert California. They are the same to me 😂
Robert Ultronfornia
Single handedly saved the last 3 seasons
I like to think that Robert California was just an alias for a younger Raymond Reddington to take over a paper company in order to funnel his money into and mask his life of crime. I will always enjoy his character in The Office regardless of the negative feedback he got from other viewers.
“I had two bears sewn together to make this king size, total waste of two bears” 🤣🤣
“In about 4 seconds my wife is going to be coming in and asking for a job and under no circumstances can she.” 😂😂
I'm the fucking Lizard King
That's how I end a wining conversation.
4:58 is my favourite Office scene 😂😂😂
4:43 “I’m never uncomfortable”
In Batman’s voice

This is a magnificent character

Knowing he voiced Ultron makes him scarier.
Every time i saw the marvel cast doin press with this actor I just felt like Robert California was with them. He’s everywhere
And daniel jackson
3:11 Andy's face after this🤣🤣🤣🤣
Robert California has got to be one of the most disturbing characters on the show even out doing Todd Packard but He is also one of the most amusing ones too. Doesn't matter shat ya would say or do her neve4 be uncomfortable with it.
Robert California the only decent character introduced after Michael left. Clarke was ok but Nellie was awful and Plop is beyond awful.
It was the opposite for me I hated Clark but liked Peter
Plop and Dwight Jr were the best.
I feel like Clark and Peter could have filled the voids that Darryl and Jim would have left, and with all the new characters that appeared in the end, it felt like if The Office went to Season 10, then imagine: Clark and Peter in an Office, run by Dwight, with David Wallace in charge of Dunder Mifflin again, although I guess Peter and Erin aren't Jim and Pam, but who knows man
My favorite boss out of the entire series!!😂😂

Damn the attention to detail when Jim says CEO once and then tilts and says CEO again! What a validation
I loved Robert California, I thought he was such a needed character with Steve leaving. They needed to spice it up a bit and boy did they do that!
The music used when Robert starts taking his clothes off was perfect timing and that speech before 🤙🏻
Alligators are dinosaurs 😂😂😂
It's complicated
Idk why they didn’t keep him in season 9, would’ve made that final season 10x better.
Honestly I’m convinced this is what Raymond Reddington was doing in the years just before he got a haircut and turned himself into the FBI
JS stole a lot from RC to create RR. Wouldn't you agree?
I like to alternate between this season of The Office and The Blacklist as a nice balance of my helpings of James Spader 😂
Boston legal
I think it’s so funny when he demands perfect silence and then loudly throws up. 😂
“Does my Thuhuhurmoil amuse you, Jim?
I refuse to believe this isn’t Reddington doing some side quest as a hobby
"Australian reds and... Columbian whites"
My favourite!
i loved him!!!!
One of my favorite characters!
The two bears bit always makes me snort at least a little bit of whatever I am eating/drinking at the time into my nasal cavity.
Robert California: Great Character.
“It’s not a party unless you do something that scares ya!” 😂😂
I loved Spader’s delivery “You lying son of a bitch,” and poor Andy’s face at 3:16!
Robert California & Red are a close tie to being my fav Spader character.
I loved Robert honestly lol No one compares to MIchael obviously but Robert was pretty entertaining in his own right.
He was great
“He’s the lizard king”
Robert, California just may have been the one single short term character that like stole the show
Robert California feels like a chaotic evil Creed lol
Robert: Jim, your daughter, Cecilia. What does she think of the street?

They didn't know what to do with the character, and they flanderized him so quick

James Spader is clinically insane. He is so brilliant.

He really was my favorite character
I'm convinced Robert California and Raymond Reddington are the same person and The Office and The Blacklist take place in the same universe.
Robert Californias lawyer is Denny Crane
Robert's so weird, even Creed cringed 6:38
You don’t even know my real name it’s Raymond Reddington
“Why is Jim treating the magician poorly?”
Robert California is incredible
Robert California may actually be a psychopath, and yet you can't help but long for his approval 😅
5:49 will be engraved on my tombstone
Bravo
Sometimes I don’t know if you know food at all.
Ultron has a very odd way of making you feel awkward around him but you can't stop being around him
Reminds me of a newspaper editor I had once
"I'm afraid you've lost my interest"
:06 when there's more than four people at the gym at 1 in the morning.
Love it 😂❤
One of my favorite Office characters Lol
Now we're cookin.
most underrated character in the office.
Pretty different stage in Reddington’s life ..
Sometimes I don't know if you know potatoes at all.
Robert saved this show after Michael left
Jam and Dvice save the show
I’m never comfortable.
Unpopular opinion: he's my favourite boss
