For us folks who love bluegrass and fiddle music, we are fortunate to be alive today and hear Michael Cleveland. He is so head and shoulders above everybody else, there is no one close. His imaginative runs are windows into his mind. Yes, he is technically perfect but it is his improvisational skills that set him apart.
I've watched this video I don't know how many times and I never, and I mean never, get tired of it. Thank you, Michael, for all your work and for what you've done for us. And, a tip of the hat to Nathan Livers having guts of steel.
I witnessed Kenny Baker and Bill Munroe play this "anthem" at the Opry in '75. I left there thinking I had seen the very best. That was until seeing this incredible prodigy!
Many great musicians built the foundations of bluegrass over 4 generations to get bluegrass to this level. I heard Monroe, Chubby Wise, Benny Martin, Kenny Baker and dozens of the masters in every note. Thank the founding fathers for Bluegrass. Michael just bring the ghosts of the past to life!
That young man right there is a phenomenon. It flows out of him like wine. My two favorite fiddlers are Michael Cleveland & Ron Stewart, Ron is also my favorite banjer player. I've been pickin and listenin to bluegrass for 48 years, and that's how I see it. 🥇🥇
I played music with these two men when they were boys....it is great to see where they have went with their music.....I wish Nathan would give us some Rawhide
I heard Cleveland live a few years ago ... incredible, of course. There are a ton of videos on YT but usually he's playing so damn fast it's almost a blur. I especially like this one because it's got some slower and more melodic stuff than many others. Beautiful!
It craves something from the listener too. I find it very relaxing. I think you have to come down in a state of mind to be able to hear and notice the finess in hes playing. Kind like meditating..
I first heard this amazing fiddle player at the age of 18, playing for Dale Ann Bradley. He played Orange Blossom Special. I knew then I was watching a future star of bluegrass music.
Thank you so much for posting this. Probably listened a dozen times and still not tired of it. Love the imperturbable expression on the mandolin player's face. (:
there are bluegrass fests in FL. Check his schedule on his website, and follow him on www.bandsintown.com/a/182848-michael-cleveland . He was in FL 3 times in March & April 2019.
Who the hell are those 10 people that thought this wasn't good?? LMAO bunch of haters this guy is genius.. I like when he's playing how he kind of laughs like oh yeah watch this🤘

Totally agree! So inventive, like he's trying to surprise himself. Unreal mind and focus, skill and creativity times a million
And my goodness - the SOUL!

Same here.
Michael continues to amaze me!

Check out Michael on a slow tune, here with his elementary School For The Blind friend on guitar: th-cam.com/video/5wio7m7Yz88/w-d-xo.html .
That is a life changing fiddle right here
After listening to this countless times I like Nathan Livers parts best even though MC is totally amazing!
As a fiddler I feel the excitement in putting your own signature on another work of art. Very tasteful and talented artists here.
You are so talented Mike Cleveland!!!! Nice job!!
I hope I can be as talented as you someday!!!
Hot, creative and well done by this duo. Riveting, magnetic.
this defines making it "your own" yet honoring the melody!!
A real pleasure to listen to this! Outstanding!!

Search TH-cam for Michael on mandolin at about age 8! Or on guitar.
I was fortunate enough to have been there that night. It was pretty amazing. Didn't know anyone had captured it. Thanks!

Wow he is SO fantastic.
Love the music!!!!
Best I've heard it.
Simply the best!!
I think, Marc O' Connor would have his eyebrows to the ceiling.......amazing!
O'Connor plays by the numbers, Mike plays by and with his heart.
@@bohemian46 The O'Connor Method series of learning music books stress improvisation! Mark can sure improvise!
Very nice mandolin would love to have a fern, but I don't have 7000 plus dollars.

Awlsome
I'd rather hear him than see him.
Heis a great showman as well as a super technical fiddler/violinist. I am always blown away while watching his bowing.
Aaron Dalton totally uncalled for comment dude.
Which one? Michael Cleveland has one of the coolest looks man. The other dude looks good too. You just sound like a Clueless fool

Michael might be blind, but the thumbs down section is deaf!
