As a person of Mexican heritage, seeing Namor and the Atlantians take on such a beautiful interpretation of Aztec and Mayan culture means so much to me. Tenoch Huerta, the actor for Namor, seems to have given us the representation we needed as we’ve unfortunately really only had stereotypical tropes to hold on to in the MCU. The presentation of African and Latin American cultures in Wakanda Forever is truly much more important than many people believe it to be, and they’re nailing every second of it.
“I’m am Queen of the most powerful nation in the world, and my entire family is gone. Have I not given enough?”…… the way Angela delivered that line was heartbreaking. You can tell that especially for scenes like that, that won’t be acting. Those emotions are real.
It was announced at the panel that Black Panther Wakanda Forever is the end of phase 4. Antman 3 is the beginning of phase 5 and ends with The Thunderbolts. Phase 6 starts with The Fantastic Four and ends with Avengers Secret Wars.
Feige said they have the next 10 years planned. I'm sure the unannounced stuff is mostly rough outlines that can change, but it's nice to know they're planning far out.

In the comics, Namor has often gone around in only green swim briefs. He also has pointed ears (like the guy walking out of the water) and wings on his ankles (like the baby born underwater). Namor also commands sealife (like the whales with soldiers riding all around them). Yes, you are correct. That was Namor.👍
It makes no sense to even wear more clothes then that if you live underwater, clothes are really to protect against the elements like cold winds and Rain but if you live underwater?

There's other things like Phase 6 had many (6 or 7?) empty slots on the timeline which KF said he would fill in later (D23?). So there's things like: Armor Wars, X-Men/Mutants Untitled, Deadpool 3, Shang Chi/10 Rings 2 still with dates TBC.
Are they really not doing Armor Wars? I was really exited for that. War Machine is such a cool character and besides Pepper the character that has been the longest in the MCU.
Watching Angela Bassett (the most under-utilized actor in the first movie) chew up those scenes in Wakanda Forever is going to be an absolute religious experience
I agree. Kevin seems to genuinely care about the fans. I've always loved that about him. Yeah MCU will have misses, but he made it the MOST successful movie franchise. I don't think anyone could do that if they just were in it for the money. So a huge thank you Kevin, and a huge thank you to every single person who's worked on these projects.
Can people now stop saying Phase 4 had no direction? because clearly, you can see the seeds that were planted for Thunderbolts, Kang's Dynasty and Secret Wars.
I've enjoyed Phase 4 as a phase dedicated to often dealing with the fallout of a post-Endgame world. It's a lot of existing characters dealing with trauma and consequences, all while seeding very clearly where things will be headed in the future. Like *all* of the MCU, it's had some really high highs and some stuff that hasn't worked. By and large, I've been enjoying it.
I'm sorry but imo phase 4 was the worst phase we've gotten so far. Except for Shang chi and No way home, those were the only good movies in phase 4 imo

That was definitely Namor - check back to the baby being born and see the tiny wings on his ankles. And it completely makes sense to introduce him here since there is a lot of history in the comics between Namor/T'Challa, Atlantis/Wakanda. Very, very happy to see how this is shaping up...
Daredevil is 18 episodes for Season 1. That's how Feige worded it in the panel. Also, love how Jay got a bit emotional hearing it. I'm over the moon excited
From what I've heard, they are actually changing it so Namor and his people aren't from Atlantis but an underwater Central American city of Mayan or Aztec origin that's been hidden from the world. I guess they want to distinguish him from Aquaman and add some representation for that region. I think its a great idea.
It's still Atlantis. It's just off the coast of Central America and not in the Mediterranean. There is a map indicating this somewhere in the background all the way back in Iron Man 2.

As a Black/African American & 43+yrs comic book fan/reader, that *Black Panther: Wakanda Forever* teaser trailer broke me down on so many levels. . .(with my continuous throat lump) I honestly can't find the appropriate words! IMO it was the best teaser trailer ever! *I've* been reading Black Panther comics since 1980, but anyone who's attached themselves not only to the ci T'challa/Black Panther character, but also to the actual great actor in Chadwick Bosrman that brought him finally to life in the cinematic portrayal is experiencing a mental version of drinking an Incredible Hulk (up/down/remorse)! I've never cried so hard for a trailer or movie.
Kevin did mention the Marvel's and it has a date in Phase 5 for July 22, 2023. We have to keep in mind Disney has D23 and chances are they are holding back the major new casting announcements for that. They gave us the map in Hall H with a couple of new stops added in, but we'll get all the goodies in September. Hopefully some fantastic 4 casting and some X-Men announcements, etc.
I'm sitting her yelling at my TV "GET TO THE TRAILERS!" because I love how you guys react to big reveals. I really expected all we would see of Namor was a quick moment, like Daredevil at the end of the She-Hulk trailer. And then they not only showed him multiple times but also the Blue Atlanteans!

I was surprised to see Ironheart. But now I'm starting to understand the way they are moving the MCU forward and introducing new characters the way they are doing. It's just so damn hard to replace powerhouses like Chadwick and Downey Jr.

With the first BP movie in production at the same time as Ragnarok, Infinity War, and Ant-Man & The Wasp, it got short-changed in terms of the amount of time its VFX teams got to work on the movie relative to those other 3 movies. I'm glad they saw it as a priority to rectify that this time round! Also having Autumn Duralde - the cinematographer from the Loki show on board looks to have paid off with the stunning visuals! Having Doom as a background schemer who manipulates Namor into attacking Wakanda would be a great way to introduce him to the MCU!
That is in fact Namor, being of Mexican Heritage, I’m glad that they implemented Mesoamérica culture to a all new Namor, it’s not just a random race swap, they’re ethnicity is part of the story
I understand the actor portraying Namor is Mexican but MCU Namor will have common ancestry with Mayan descendants living in Mexico and Central America.

For you guys who don’t know, Namor’s Atlantis has been changed in terms of culture instead of being from its Mediterranean folklore from Greek writings it will be based on Aztec/Mayan culture from the Americas primarily from the cultures of Mexico This change didn’t need to be but hopefully it will be very well written
one major theory is that Shuri is going to drown and ascend to the place they go to and meet her father, T'challa as a panther and Killmonger. and the twist is that she tries to help bring Killmonger back to life and the part of Kendrick's song Alright, "And when I WAKE UP" aloods to his resurrection and that's him clawing out at the end with the gold aesthetic, as he liked in the og movie
The two trailers at the end show us that Marvel knows exactly how to play it. You took two guys, and made them excited, laughing and having a good time to tear soaked and heartbroken. All in about a 5 minute span. Powerful imagery mixed with powerful score and a fundamental understanding of human beings.
As soon as comic-con started announcing these trailers, my first thought was, oh boy it’s gonna take a min for you guys to catch up reacting to all this. Hooray for cinema overload!
Being hispanic and of central American descent, seeing Tenoch as Namor is HYPE AF! Namor is one of the only heroes that they could actually cast hispanic without it feeling forced and makes sense. I am SO excited to see representation especially through one of Marvel's biggest characters.
In End game, when they were holding a conference with black widow…wakanda had something in the ocean and they were trying to find out what it was…it was him.
Some have complained about how "she seems so much better than Bruce...kinda looks like they're doing the women=awesome at all things, deal". Bruce wrist-flicked his boulder...no other motion...and chucked it that far. She put her whole arm and stance into her throw, and barely got past his distance. Bruce-Hulk weighs four or five times what she does, and that weight is very differently distributed. So, naturally her better mass-to-strength ratio and better mass distribution is going to make her better at the yoga shit. It's not female empowerment shit...it's just physics. Fans need to chill.
Kang and Dr Doom have worked together in comics and are actually distant relatives. Kang and Doom are eventually going to be revealed to be working together…either reluctantly or not
Now that we know how the Phases are slated, Phase 4 makes a lot more sense. It's a transition period where people are dealing from the fall out of the Infinity Saga while moving forward towards the next big threat. The chess board is getting reset.

I'm sorry but imo phase 4 was the worst phase we've gotten so far. Except for Shang chi and No way home, those were the only good movies in phase 4 imo

That was definitely Namor - check back to the baby being born and see the tiny wings on his ankles. And it completely makes sense to introduce him here since there is a lot of history in the comics between Namor/T'Challa, Atlantis/Wakanda. Very, very happy to see how this is shaping up...
Even more reason that T'Challa should be in this film.

From what I've heard, they are actually changing it so Namor and his people aren't from Atlantis but an underwater Central American city of Mayan or Aztec origin that's been hidden from the world. I guess they want to distinguish him from Aquaman and add some representation for that region. I think its a great idea.
It's still Atlantis. It's just off the coast of Central America and not in the Mediterranean.
There is a map indicating this somewhere in the background all the way back in Iron Man 2.

Hey Jay & Adam!! Love the reactions as usual. As a Black/African American & 43+yrs comic book fan/reader, that *Black Panther: Wakanda Forever* teaser trailer broke me down on so many levels. . .(with my continuous throat lump) I honestly can't find the appropriate words! IMO it was the best teaser trailer ever! *I've* been reading Black Panther comics since 1980, but anyone who's attached themselves not only to the ci T'challa/Black Panther character, but also to the actual great actor in Chadwick Bosrman that brought him finally to life in the cinematic portrayal is experiencing a mental version of drinking an Incredible Hulk (up/down/remorse)! I've never cried so hard for a trailer or movie.
Kevin did mention the Marvel's and it has a date in Phase 5 for July 22, 2023. We have to keep in mind Disney has D23 and chances are they are holding back the major new casting announcements for that. They gave us the map in Hall H with a couple of new stops added in, but we'll get all the goodies in September. Hopefully some fantastic 4 casting and some X-Men announcements, etc.

I'm sitting her yelling at my TV "GET TO THE TRAILERS!" because I love how you guys react to big reveals. I really expected all we would see of Namor was a quick moment, like Daredevil at the end of the She-Hulk trailer. And then they not only showed him multiple times but also the Blue Atlanteans!

I was surprised to see Ironheart. But now I'm starting to understand the way they are moving the MCU forward and introducing new characters the way they are doing. It's just so damn hard to replace powerhouses like Chadwick and Downey Jr.

With the first BP movie in production at the same time as Ragnarok, Infinity War, and Ant-Man & The Wasp, it got short-changed in terms of the amount of time its VFX teams got to work on the movie relative to those other 3 movies. I'm glad they saw it as a priority to rectify that this time round! Also having Autumn Duralde - the cinematographer from the Loki show on board looks to have paid off with the stunning visuals! Having Doom as a background schemer who manipulates Namor into attacking Wakanda would be a great way to introduce him to the MCU!

That is in fact Namor, being of Mexican Heritage, I’m glad that they implemented Mesoamérica culture to a all new Namor, it’s not just a random race swap, they’re ethnicity is part of the story
I understand the actor portraying Namor is Mexican but MCU Namor will have common ancestry with Mayan descendants living in Mexico and Central America.

The two trailers at the end show us that Marvel knows exactly how to play it. You took two guys, and made them excited, laughing and having a good time to tear soaked and heartbroken. All in about a 5 minute span. Powerful imagery mixed with powerful score and a fundamental understanding of human beings.

Being hispanic and of central American descent, seeing Tenoch as Namor is HYPE AF! Namor is one of the only heroes that they could actually cast hispanic without it feeling forced and makes sense. I am SO excited to see representation especially through one of Marvel's biggest characters.
In End game, when they were holding a conference with black widow…wakanda had something in the ocean and they were trying to find out what it was…it was him.
Some have complained about how "she seems so much better than Bruce...kinda looks like they're doing the women=awesome at all things, deal".
Bruce wrist-flicked his boulder...no other motion...and chucked it that far. She put her whole arm and stance into her throw, and barely got past his distance.
Bruce-Hulk weighs four or five times what she does, and that weight is very differently distributed. So, naturally her better mass-to-strength ratio and better mass distribution is going to make her better at the yoga shit.
It's not female empowerment shit...it's just physics. Fans need to chill.

Now that we know how the Phases are slated, Phase 4 makes a lot more sense. It's a transition period where people are dealing from the fall out of the Infinity Saga while moving forward towards the next big threat. The chess board is getting reset.
