Cedar Planter Stand

- Watch me make this cedar planter stand. This stand is 24" tall, 48" long, and 24" wide. It can easily be changed to any dimensions. my most common sizes I've made is 16", 24" or 36" tall, 24",36" or 48" long, and usually 24" wide. I keep an eye out for damaged lumber anytime I'm in the big box stores or at my local lumber yard. I'm not great at drawing plans so bare with me. Thanks for taking a look. I have a few other planters i build every year to sell during spring. Keeps me busy and out of trouble.
Starting with the plans and specs is so helpful, thank you! I don't know why everyone doesn't do that but seeing it like that from the start makes a huge difference.
Also I'm gonna have to find your video of making that bench, thats epic.
lol. Well no video of the bench however I do plan to remake it. It was supposed to have drawers and stuff. Eventually I found that I had plastic bins that fit the slide area. As far as plans go yes. I hate sifting through videos looking for the info I need. Thanks for the comment.
@@garagesaws5729 hey whatever works, works. Bins could actually be more functional than drawers in some cases for their mobility. And yeah, exactly, with the sifting through videos. D: Thanks for making it easier on us out here.

@@garagesaws5729 it's way more work than most people realize, to think through and present info and process, let alone capturing good angles, supplies, oversight shots, detail shots, etc. While keeping your own work flow going right lol. THEN after all that, editing all the footage into a cohesive video. Keep up the good work, much appreciated.
My pleasure. It's such a double-edged sword making videos. Some folks want short and sweet. When I watch videos, there always seem to be missed steps that I don't quite get. Thanks for watching.

Did you find that the 5/8 fence pickets in the bottom was strong enough to support the soil (approx 10 inches) you put into the planter box?
Oh, it's plenty strong enough. I'm not sure how long it will last, but I usually use the strongest-looking boards.

very nicely made, picked up materials and will begin to build after I unload the lumber and get the jig for drilling. A really good video and easy to follow along. I plan to put a cap on top of it to give it just a bit more finished look. great video, great design.

Oh, it's great. So, I just posted a new video mentioning it again. I spent this morning making a video on sourcing some cheap lumber. Anyway, when I was done, I went out back to see what I could make. I have someone waiting on two wavy flags with a Seattle Kraken design. I just used my (restorer) tool. That's what it's called. It's worth the money, and it's not expensive.

Thank you. I have so much recorded. The editing is the hardest part. Hopefully, I will have more out soon. I've since built a small shop. I hope it will make things even better.

Thanks. Video editing is the bottle neck. I have a few more things that are complete. Ive got all the video but have been trying to find a good editing program to really invest some time in. Ive got a project i'm hoping to have complete and ready to share soon. Thanks for commenting. Ive got a new job thats had me busy since the 1st of the year.
It is not DIY, it is professional, you had lots of cool toys which made the job look easy but it very good.
All my toys are purchased one at a time. Everything was paid for from jobs or projects I've done. I just recently bought a laser engraver. It will pay for its self eventually. Thank you for the comment and for taking a peek.

No glue. I brad things in place, but I usually add a small strip on the inside and screw that strip in. It sandwiches everything together.

Is there a video on how to build a flip work table for the miter saw? I was thinking building a flip table for my table saw.
I do not. I was shooting from the hip. I would have done so many things differently, but it did serve its purpose well. I recently built a shop which isn't finished. I incorporated my flip-up table into the wall. So now it is attached but can still flip up and down. I'll see if I can put together a small video. I've got tons of things recorded that need to be edited. Thanks for the comment. Perhaps I can build a new one and record as I go.
13:03 is your table saw the 7491RS? If so, how do you like it? I just bought one and haven’t put it together yet!
I had to go check. It is a DWS779. I was going to buy the one with a laser, but for the price difference, I just decided to use my eyes instead. I can only compare it to the old Makita started with. I love it, though. The bearings are smooth when you pull the saw in and out. It does take up some room, though, and the vacuum deal on the back is tiny. Gets clogged easily, but I will admit I have yet to hook up my vacuum yet. Soon though.

Sorry, haha. Mine says DWE7491. I was stumped by what the RS stands for because mine doesn't say that, but when I searched for it online, I noticed the model number followed by Rolling Stand. So yeah, I think we have the same saw. I love it. Fun fact: I've always had to use it with an extension cord. Recently, I had power added to my small shop I just built, and holy moly. Saw kicks butt more than ever with full power.
@@garagesaws5729 thank you for getting back to me! I too have had to run my saw on an extension cord. Soon, I hope to be able to have it in my garage. Instead of pulling it out from the shed and setting it up in the driveway to use.
@@mrmyblessednest1722 The biggest problem I ever had cutting in about three years was when I made a French cleat wall storage system. Cutting 3/4" plywood at a 45° angle wasn't as easy as I hoped. But that was when I was still on an extension cord.
Nice build, wood glue would make it stronger.

I do not. When i first started i did and I had a number of times i wouldn't get a sale because people are scared of the chemicals leeching into the soil. My new rule is this, "I don't paint, and I do'nt stain". I sell most things sanded and advertise ready to paint or stain. Its actually nice because it takes a lot off my plate, makes the build a little cheaper and most of all if I paint something in white i don't get someone asking of i got one in blue. lol It works. Make sure to paint with wood preservative.
Actually I don't paint or stain anything. When I first started making stuff to sell I found too many people have their own taste in what looks good. I let them paint or stain. Also I have too many that didn't buy because something was stained or I had utilized pressure treated lumber. It easy to avoid it all. I make everything with untreated cedar. Every now and then I use pressure treated for the legs but make sure its not going to come into contact with soil.
