I love my Scat Pack, but there’s no denying how beautiful that Mustang is. And when I was in high school in the 80’s, there’s no car I wanted more than a Mustang GT. You’re blessed to have both!
Coming from a former Scat Pack owner and current Mustang owner myself, I agree with everything you said here. BUT, I definitely gotta get another Mopar product soon! Both are beast in their own right.
A Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT, or a Durango SRT both have the 6.4 monster. I will be getting 1 of either as my next purchase. A Trackhawk is later down the road, when I make Trackhawk $$!
A real automotive enthusiast loves all cars. Its ok to be partial to a particular make/model I've loved Mustangs since i was a kid and currently own one. I would have to say, being a stop light thumper the challenger/ charger just seems more fun. Id love a Mopar in the stable. Brute force, and torque is never a bad thing. It's videos like these that give people perspective on what kind of power you prefer, down low, or up high. Good video as always brother👌
Another Great video! Totally honest content. When I hit the loud pedal, the LAST THING I want is to light up the tires. I want to rocket forward. My '19 Mustang GT gives me that!
Always annoyed when a mustang reels me in when I'm in my 392 but that difference in driving experience is pretty stark. I too, love my sledgehammer, makes me feel like its more of a muscle car where you punch it and just hold on with a smile ear to ear. The mustang GT is more tame in that regard but definitely gets the speed on the top end.
This is perfect man I’ve been considering a Mustang GT and a Scat Pack. So I have been paying extra close attention to your channel lately! I’ve been leaning towards the GT due to the ability to potentially boost it and not have to change out the internals to make that big power. Your videos have definitely helped me in that decision process!
Always love your comparison videos, you do a great job with them, the scat pack for sure has the avantage in the torque battle, which has to do with push rod motors vs. overhead cams motors not having much low end torque. Both sweet car s in their own right, keep up great work.
I love these comparisons. My first new car was a challenger R/T 6spd manual and after 4 enjoyable years I traded it for my 2015 mustang GT! So I love both cars and have specific ties to each. Keep up the great videos.
Love my 2018 6 speed Mustang GT. Won't part with it. I changed out my stock tires, as I mentioned before, and my ride grips like Spider-Man. Great video, Bro. Thanks for making it.
Racer X, keep doing videos like this! I’m a huge fan from Mexico! You should make a video talking about MPG consumption between Dodge (Charger or Challenger) vs Mustang, of course they are V8s but, in a long trip and daily driving, which can save more mpg?
Fantastic comparison, own a 2015 stang..low end torque very sad, helped a little bit with a gt350 CA and larger throttle body...along with a tune, coyote really shines at about 6k rpm...Love the challengers too, wish I could afford both!
Wish I could afford at least one of them 😂 freaking euro taxes on larger engines are a no no. But I'm saving up for a '15 '20 mustang, taxes on 5l are lower than the ones for 6.4s.. a lot lower. I know it'll be a money pit considering the above but fuck it, I'm still young, I wanna have fun, money comes and goes
I'm going to cosign with you RacerX. The mustangs have a much larger after market, and the engine just breaths way better because of that DOHC and 4 valve system. My opinion is that the Ford guys are not scared to try new aftermarket stuff and us Dodge guys are more old school "if it aint broke don't fix it"... It won't be until more guys on the Dodge side begins to build our cars up past the regular pulley swap, then the aftermarket companies will start making more and more Gen3 Hemi aftermarket parts. The Hellcat was out in 2015, we couldn't even mod/tune them until 2 years ago... that's sad lol
I mean you have to look at your face everytime the scatpack just go crazy. And your face when doing the mustang. Thats a selling point right there. I love my scatpack i have the same smile every time!!
The mustang also is cheaper normally brand new. I see scat packs go for 44-50k here in pa. Might as well buy a used hellcat for that price. Only time you'll pay 44k for the 5.0 is if you get every single option imaginable. Unless the dealer is marking them up for some reason. Both are awesome fun N/A cars. And good starters for people before they get into the shelbys and hellcats
I've blown my budget on my 2020 gt but I really want that digital dash. And as much as I love my s550 the low end torque is disappointing. However as you mentioned it does help traction. I just need to get use to running higher up in the rpm band.
Thank you for this video man usually people are really bias favoring their car maker but your telling it like it is I’m looking to buy one of these bad boys this year and after watching this video I’m kind of leaning towards the mustang ..
Excellent review. I felt like you presented the facts well and clear. I wish you had the same kinda experience with the camaro, as that's the way I'm learning. All great and very fun cars.
The great thing about the Mustang aftermarket is if you buy a base mustang you can upgrade it to an equivalent to a Shelby GT500. With the exception of heated and cooled seats, ford safe and smart, those carbon fiber wheels, magaride... All the other options have an aftermarket equivalent or upgrade. Which you can even add features from luxury sports cars like scissor doors and lights all of the lights and even titanium exust.
I have similar experience, but not quite as extreme as the Scat Pack or the newer 5.0. Both cars of mine are 2015. A Chrysler 300S Hemi and 5.0 with manual for my lady. The 300 is all about smooth driving and comfort. The Mustang loves the RPMs. Handling is exceptional in the Mustang and still fun with Traction Control off. The 300 is going to get some engine goodies added and the 5.0 will most likely be left stock.
I have a 16 GT with 3.15 gears and it's no different! I had to get vertical links, subframe brace, IRS & subframe street bushings and now it hooks every time with the help of 285/35/19 Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 tires! Had to change my tune from Bama to PBD since I just upgraded to the 18 IM with JLT CAI. It's a VERY unpleasant feeling to flooring these cars with stock PZero Nero's and I almost ended up on the curb so for the first 2 years I was running Michelin AS3's but not cheap in Canada at $1600CAD+ and these Indy 500's at approx. $1100CAD which are just as good and on my 4th year with these tires!
Agree without stalling up the mustang it doesn't spin the tires much for having such a small tire. And the transmission is really a improvement over the 2016 mustang.
Every time I watch your videos I learn something new...TH-cam is flooded with so many bozos with these cars that have no clue what they talking about your channel should be much bigger than a lot of these fools I come across on here
That was an interesting video, I know I wish the scat pack and the hellcat had a mode where it could just takeoff like that, that would make for a very fast almost untouchable car on the street
There are older fords that have the best of both. 03-04 cobra and 07-14 gt500 are factory supercharged with badass 6 speed manual transmissions and can both do 800+ wheel on stock drivelines with a blower pretty easy. They are both 4v dohc like coyotes buy they're older and more primitive they have a better old school exhaust note as well as the look, feel and performance the way the power curve is they Rev to like 6500 but have way more torque and power down lower in the Rev range. They're much more muscle car feeling especially the 07-14 gt500 as they had solid axle rear ends back there they likely feel more "muscle" than the newe mopars all things considered because of that fact. Even the gt500 with iron block 07-10 were the heaviest ones and still only weigh 3920 stock despite a heavier 6 speed manual and iron block plus boost factory. Much lighter than a 392 let alone a hellcat. Some guys only want new cars but if you don't gotta have new the older terminator and gt500s are very solid options for those who wants torque and muscle car feel and the performance potential on stock long block the 4v ford's are known for.
I'd like to see you compare both of these to the Camaro and Corvette. Just do a complete Vs series breaking down everything vs everything from both sides like you've done here
Another thing about the display. When you drive over 85mph a horse appears on the dash n starts running 💨. Very cool .. i had a gt for ,a yr sold n got a hellcat
Mustang is basically a straight up sports car. The manual transmissions that come in the car have issues (can be fixed with modification) the automatics are fast, but the 10 speed (to me) feels all over the place, fast on throttle tho. Great mod community, but everybody and their mother owns one. They don't stand out at all, it feels like every 10th car on the road is a Mustang. Scatpack comes solid from the factory, doesn't need much in modification (mid muffler delete, oil catch can, barton shifter if MT) Is a real muscle car, stands out in the crowd, has a gigantic loud V8, more comfortable interior, better and more reliable transmissions. AT version of Scat is faster than Mustang GT MT stock for stock but slower than Mustang AT. Both MT's against each other tho are a pure drivers race. Challenger has character the Mustang lacks and the grunt the Mustang lacks.
Somebody has never heard of an 03-04 cobra or 07-14 gt500. True muscle cars in every sense of the word from looks to sound to feel. Only came with tremec 6 speeds and both came boosted with forged motors capable of 800+ rwhp w a blower on a stock bottom end. They're both way more unique than any modern challenger and far more limited. Challengers and chargers are literally everywhere lol.
They are both very torque happy too. I hate how people put every mustang in the coyote basket as if there are no other mustang options that are badass from the past 20 years.
You need to look at some RTR Tech 7’s for your mustang! Got the 20” staggered set waiting for it to warm up to put my 305/30’s and 285/30’s with Continental ExtremeContact Sport!
If ur gonna boost and want the most for the money than and best performance than its blatantly the Coyote 5.0 Car. But the best looking is the challenger wide body. Absolutely looks stunning. If ford would make a wide body than they'd win over so many people.
@@VesselFitterguy oh I did the research and I weighed the options. Bought myself a 2021 Mustang GT Premium manual 3 months ago. Best bang for your buck, and the only one with BLIS standard
All I can say is that I drove a 392 yesterday for the first time and it REALLY IS A BOAT. Floatiest damn car on the market. Yes its really comy but damn if I didn't think it was gonna tip over every time I took a turn at 5 mph lmao No comparison in driving dynamics to the mustang or camaro. As a straight up cruiser / comically prone to roasting rear tires car though, it has no equal.
Sometimes the Chall just feels too heavy. Sure torquey and moves forward fast but feels luggy like a fast elephant. The Mustang at least feels more nimble and snappy.
I just sold my scat and went back to a Stang GT premium 22 . Wish I could have kept the scat as it’s a great car . I also had a Camaro 2 SS , loved that also . Just no trunk space . Perfect world , I’d have all 3 . Great cars with different personalities.
Just want to add that my mustang with 6 speed manual came with 275 p zeros and they weren’t enough tire for the car .. put some 305 nt05’s and there is a noticeable difference on the street really able to lay the power down now but like you said the stang has less bottom end torque can still spin the tires a bit but the car is way faster out the gate now love my 305 nittos on the street
You can put $100,000 in bolt ons if you have a Mustang. Support is never ending. My conservative shift point is a factory 7000 rpm. Roush, Kook, Steeda is all you need. At 35 mph, 2nd gear I can just barely lift the right front wheel off the ground. I call that fast.
When it comes to performance the Mustang wins in every category. Acceleration, handling...it’s just the superior performer. The Challenger has a bigger interior and trunk which could make it better for “larger” people and getting groceries. It does look cool though.
You probably know this, but if you don't. Look into buying BMR low profile jack rails for your Mustang GT. They cost less than $200 and they will allow you to jack up the entire side of the Mustang from one point. I put a set on my Mustang. And now I can rotate my own tires with ease.,
Yeah yeah so it’s tires don’t spin so what, ladies in the passenger seat can’t tell the difference they always think you’re going 200mph anyway. Torque is what really impresses them. Nah for real though great video as always my dude solid solid points🤙
one thing about the mustang does better than the challenger is that the challengers i believe you need a hacked or modified ecu or pcm when u tune ur car. u cant just tune ur car like the older challengers. and the hacked ecu or pcm cost around $800 on top of the cost of a tune. saw it on mikebythesun youtube video. great guy who has a big passion for challengers. he owned 5 challengers in 5 years.
The Challenger platform is definitely showing its age against the younger Mustang, but sales certainly don't reflect that. Both great cars that play in different classes. Trying putting three adults with three checked bags in the Mustang for a road trip-Challenger gobbles all that up. Of course nobody buys one of these cars to do that, but you can with the Challenger.
Now I agree and disagree with your statement on the aftermarket support. But its not so much of what Dodge did wrong rather what Ford did right. The base model GT is around 32K MSRP which means NEW out the door you can get one for like 29-30 depending on time of year, ETC. I think the price difference in the base model V8 option is why there isnt as much support for the Challenger. Comes down to how many cars sold and based on numbers more GT mustangs are sold than V8 Challengers.
Yes your right 8 things better than a scat pack. 1. Ability to plow into crowds, 2. Ability to loose control just going straight down the road, 3. Coyote Engines fail all the time, 4. Has more crash videos on TH-cam than any other car!, 5. More Noise than movement on many of the modded mustangs, 6. The cheapest out of all the muscle cars, 7. Insurance rates are higher because of the incident rates on the mustang, 8. Majority of the mustang owners have no clue how to drive- causing a lot of the loss of control of these vehicles.
To me, point 9 would be the overall quality of the interior. I badly want a Charger Scat Pack Widebody. But my God, Dodge, update the interiors. Take some cues maybe from the Ram truck line-up. Those interiors are excellent.
I'm a big fan of the HEMI motor. However, I am going to buy a Mustang as my retirement present to myself. I really wish you would help with my decision on the rear end gear size. I know you have the 3.55 gears but I wonder how much of a difference the 3.55's make compared to the 3.15 gears? Performance and Gas mileage........A rear gear comparison would be a big help.
I ended up buying a 2021 Camaro ZL1 1LE, could you do a review on one? I would love to know what you think with it ranked against the big dogs GT500/ Dodge Hellcat
Stellantis and Ford have different business models. Ford assumes that you're going to buy a Mustang and then personalize it. Stellantis wants you to leave your car alone. Modding a Challenger or Challenger is much more difficult. You have to send the PCM unlocked just to modify a tune. There is also the limited availability of aftermarket parts previously referred to in the video. They want to sell you on the muscle car. Lots of low end grunt. The Mustang is a more modern design. Ford Performance makes performance parts available for Ford cars. Being able to use dedicated cams for the exhaust and intake valves makes the Ford much more responsive to modifications. The Mustang is a pony car, not a muscle car. They're designed to give strong performance on the top end. The Mustang will handle better than the Scat Pack. In addition to the 10 speed having 2 additional gears, the 10R80 is a stronger transmission. The 8HP70 is rated at 516 foot pounds of torque to the 10R80's rating of 590 foot pounds. The newer ZF8HP75 is rated at 553 foot pounds of torque. Since the Coyote isn't a torque monster, you can mod the Mustang fairly substantially and the transmission shouldn't be a concern. I like the Scat Pack. However, I dislike the company that makes Chargers and Challenger. They're cheap about the dumbest things and in some ways are downright hostile to their customers. Putting 245s on a Scat Pack. Are they serious? Dodge dealers seem to go out of their way to void warrantees. If you buy a Scat Pack, why do you have to pay to get it unlocked. Whose PCM is it? Yours or theirs? I'd buy a used Charger or Challenger. However, I'd never buy a new one. Stellantis doesn't deserve my money. The Challengers and Chargers haven't changed in 5 years. Why buy a new one? I own a Mustang and I prefer the Challenger and Chargers. I dislike the company that makes them too much to buy a new one.
Why haven’t you changed the tires on the Scat Pack? When I got my 2019, I put 275 General Gmax RS tires on it and that made a big difference in traction and handling.
I wonder if Dodge would make a larger version out of the Pentastar engine, say 5.7L if that would do the trick of better traction control at launch yet have that upper end speed.
Okay ... I'm a Mopar guy. Enjoy your Mustang GT. Does the 2020 GT still have a Sound Imposer sending air intake sounds to the cabin? You need to get a new hat and a new logo. Maybe in the shape of an oval.
@@stealthcreek Yeah pretty much. That and like he said in the video, it costs way too much to mod this car. I have around $3500 just in exhaust, intake and tune and all I got from that was 30 whp. I got a $11,000 quote from HHP to do a supercharger and even after that Id be around 570-580 whp
Man, I have to disagree on one thing. The Scatpack is awesome, but I have beaten stock ones in my 2013 GT multiple times. A 2013 GT model, mind you. It does take some effort to get ahead, but it is highly possible.

Challenger has character the Mustang lacks and the grunt the Mustang lacks.
Depends where you live, here in Michigan everyone and their brother has a scat pack, all you see up here
Somebody has never heard of an 03-04 cobra or 07-14 gt500.
Yes I’m looking at a new setup for the car
I’m so torn we have such good options challenger, mustang, camaro! My god they’re all to good
If ur gonna boost and want the most for the money than and best performance than its blatantly the Coyote 5.0 Car.
That generic dmx beat cracks me up. Love the vids man.
Haha.. x gonna give it to ya
I got a scat charger 22 an I’m looking at a 21 gt , they look so nice
Just want to add that my mustang with 6 speed manual came with 275 p zeros and they weren’t enough tire for the car .. put some 305 nt05’s and there is a noticeable difference on the street really able to lay the power down now but like you said the stang has less bottom end torque can still spin the tires a bit but the car is way faster out the gate now love my 305 nittos on the street
So...I’m skeptical on getting a scat challenger or a gt...im big on reliability & need a good daily driver..🤔
Great video. Why is there no mention of rear end gear changes ? Try going from 3:55 up to 3:90 or 410.
🐝 VS. 🐎
Love these videos and love the new muscle cars they are all good in there own ways!!
Put an X-pipe on my mustang GT, left the stock mufflers. The car sounds amazing. Best stock sounding car out there.
Great video bro! The Mustang has some nice features. 👍💪👍
Thanks buddy.. much appreciated
A huge fan of that shaker hood on that Scat Pack!
Love the honesty
Thanks buddy
Great informative video love it! Thanks for making this cool video love it!
Excellent review Racer X! (As of this comment, at least 1 person who disliked this video thinks a Geo Metro is better)
one thing about the mustang does better than the challenger is that the challengers i believe you need a hacked or modified ecu or pcm when u tune ur car. u cant just tune ur car like the older challengers. and the hacked ecu or pcm cost around $800 on top of the cost of a tune. saw it on mikebythesun youtube video. great guy who has a big passion for challengers. he owned 5 challengers in 5 years.
I had to choose between a scat pack and a mustang gt and I eventually chose the mustang, but in a perfect world I would just get both
Both was my decision too lol
New vid ohhh yuhhh🤩🤩
🤜🔥
"Give em the beans" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 gotta love it
RacerX do you plan on doing any mods to the mustang? If so will they be minor since it's your daily?
Yes your right 8 things better than a scat pack. 1. Ability to plow into crowds, 2. Ability to loose control just going straight down the road, 3. Coyote Engines fail all the time, 4. Has more crash videos on TH-cam than any other car!, 5. More Noise than movement on many of the modded mustangs, 6. The cheapest out of all the muscle cars, 7. Insurance rates are higher because of the incident rates on the mustang, 8. Majority of the mustang owners have no clue how to drive- causing a lot of the loss of control of these vehicles.
all of these can be driver error
To me, point 9 would be the overall quality of the interior. I badly want a Charger Scat Pack Widebody. But my God, Dodge, update the interiors. Take some cues maybe from the Ram truck line-up. Those interiors are excellent.
I'm a big fan of the HEMI motor. However, I am going to buy a Mustang as my retirement present to myself. I really wish you would help with my decision on the rear end gear size. I know you have the 3.55 gears but I wonder how much of a difference the 3.55's make compared to the 3.15 gears? Performance and Gas mileage........A rear gear comparison would be a big help.
very good honest comparison👍🏼
I ended up buying a 2021 Camaro ZL1 1LE, could you do a review on one? I would love to know what you think with it ranked against the big dogs GT500/ Dodge Hellcat
Great car but GM is dedicated to China as a company.
I currently have a Challenger and eventually will get a Mustang and keep both
I have a 2020 Mustang GT with the PP1. It has 255 40R19 on the front and 275 40R19 on the rear. It's still hard to stick the tires.
after watching your video i thought he would take me...but he had no chance. Love my scat pack
You are killing me with this Ford stuff. :-(
I have more Mopar stuff coming very soon Greg.. two vids planned this week 👍..
I'd like to see same comparison but with both being manual
Great content, mustang dashboard on the nasty side.
But i like the stag all around
Thanks X
Wow.. they give out 3-6 month long temp plates now?
Great video. It's so hard to choose one over the other
Yes they are both great 👍
Stellantis and Ford have different business models.
That driveway needs a Camaro to make a 3 course meal 😎👍
I wonder if Dodge would make a larger version out of the Pentastar engine, say 5.7L if that would do the trick of better traction control at launch yet have that upper end speed.
Awesome content buddy 👍
Thank you Chad
Mopar no car Muscle vs sports car ... Mopar Mo money 💸💵lol.... Ohhhyyyeeeeaaaaahhh💪😎.... Good stuff RACER!
Thank you Ruben
Show that take off with Traction control off in the Mustang. Wanna see how it will light the Tires up!!
Okay ... I'm a Mopar guy. Enjoy your Mustang GT. Does the 2020 GT still have a Sound Imposer sending air intake sounds to the cabin? You need to get a new hat and a new logo. Maybe in the shape of an oval.
And that's why I have a 2018 gt
Funny that this popped up today. I was literally thinking of trading my Scat for a GT or a 350. Thanks for the video
If you don’t mind. whats your reason, just want something new ?
@@stealthcreek Yeah pretty much. That and like he said in the video, it costs way too much to mod this car. I have around $3500 just in exhaust, intake and tune and all I got from that was 30 whp. I got a $11,000 quote from HHP to do a supercharger and even after that Id be around 570-580 whp
That sucks, well the GT and 350 are good options
@@stealthcreek Yeah Im really digging the 350 😁
Man, I have to disagree on one thing. The Scatpack is awesome, but I have beaten stock ones in my 2013 GT multiple times. A 2013 GT model, mind you. It does take some effort to get ahead, but it is highly possible.
