  • Today Im taking a look at the Hollyland Lark M1 wireless Microphone system. I love the DJI mics but at over $300 dollars, could this be an alternative?

    Bear in mind, a longer range will also mean there's a stronger signal when there are objects in the way too. So if you shoot a wedding with hundreds of people between you and the mic and then the groom turns his back to the receiver, a longer range will make it less likely for the signal to cut out. This also means that 'even' if it cuts out you also have the backup recording on the DJI. So you're less likely to lose signal and even less likely to lose the audio.
    However, if you're not in big event situations or have a mic on a talent who's walking about all over the place and you won't know when or where they'll say something interesting (like a documentary) then you may as well get the Hollyland! They seem pretty solid to me!

    We're using these on on channal now and for the money i suppose they are ok but loud audio does distorts like crazy ! A good example is when I laugh you can hear the audio breaking up. I think these are perfect for quiet enviroments but can't handle much noise pressure. Anyway, great review Jason thanks for sharing 👍 All the best

      Which system distorts and can't handle loud audio? DJI system? Or Hollyland system?

    Thank you so much for this review, it’s possibly the most concise one I’ve seen, and definitely helped me make up my mind:) I just ordered them, and I’ll be off to the Middle East for a few months of travel next week. I am subscribing, but I’m not counting on having any internet while I’m abroad. Next time I’m here, hope we have 10 times as many subscribers.

    I think I just gave you your first like on this video😮 I find it so surprising because it is so well made, it deserve so much more attention than that. I really like the football field demonstration.🎉
    With all of that, I do have a question : I am using the M1 microphone, but it is coming out very quiet when I’m using it with my voice overs on cut cup video editor. Do you happen to know why or have any suggestions?

    • @Jsanderfordphoto
      @Jsanderfordphoto  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      From the microphone perspective, you might just wanna make sure that you don’t have your noise canceling setting on. Sometimes that can make your levels a little quieter. I’m not familiar with that editor, have you tried raising the levels in the program? Thanks for watching!

    Thanks for the info. I've been looking for some wireless mics, since I whisper in some of my hunting videos, well it makes the audio suck. Just ordered a pair and good old Amazon will have them here by 11am tomorrow, aint that something. Can't wait to get back in the woods. Thanks for the review.

    • @trvlr002
      @trvlr002 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Jsanderfordphoto yeah - it's apparently a known issue. So many of these that "should" work with action 3, don't. I've tried the Comica Vimo C3 as well and that's similar to this Hollyland (I think) and it won't work. There's a lot of complaints about this on the DJI forums. I was hoping that this Hollyland would work because I don't want to shell out almost $500 for the DJI ones - and they're not even that nice.

    I have both mics. Can you please tell me how you tell the difference between low, medium, and high on the Hollyland?

    • @Jsanderfordphoto
      @Jsanderfordphoto  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They default to medium when you turn them on. If you find yourself in a loud environment you can trust that pressing the volume down will take you to low and volume up will take you to high. There isnt a light or notification to be able to tell the difference (that I have found). You just kind of have to remember if you made any adjustments as you go.... or just pop them back in the case and reset to medium.

    • @Living_Our_Best_Life
      @Living_Our_Best_Life ปีที่แล้ว

      @Jason Sanderford so it resets to medium everytime you turn it off?

    • @Jsanderfordphoto
      @Jsanderfordphoto  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They come with some windscreens that work fairly well. Ive been using the voice isolation in Davinci resolve to clean up any of that though here lately.

    Did not hear if mentioned if sd card in mic can record to. If so sold when can. Not connecting to camera or phone. Seeing cheap ones w plug in usb. Dont think my camera would accept. Saw someone mention not good w high noise. Id be motovlogging so maybe not. More research.

    • @Jsanderfordphoto
      @Jsanderfordphoto  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      yeah neither of these would be ideal for motovlogging. The DJI can record independently, but finding a place in helmet would be tough.

      They come with a USB-C adapter. I do not have an Android phone so I cant test it. It also comes with a lightning adapter, Ive tried it on my Iphone and I found it doesn't work with the native camera app. Ive seen where you can use other recording apps and it works. I do not record on my phone very much so I didn't look into it further....but then again that is Apple... definitely something I need to check out.
