@Fred Fredson Bang on Fred. Pineapple thief is the bastard child of Snow Patrol and Coldplay. Fuckin' shite. Gavin makes it listenable if only for the drum part. Been listening to Gavin for donkey's years. The guy is from another planet.

the way he incorporates the toms really blows me away, not many drummers play from low to high, yet he does it all the time and it always fits perfectly.
Everything he touches is pure gold. Most people will follow the vocalist around while some of us notice the other talents. Hat tip, Gavin. You're a musical genius.
His signature :) Mostly to do with 8 strand wires, S-Hoop, Controlled sound and dampening ring. I outfitted my own birch one this way and it's wonderful! Can't afford his, but one day ...

@@88omair CC are fine as they are, no need to put down other bands. I don't think Gavin would not be a good choice for them. Paul's style fits them perfectly even though it's much less "intricate". But if you have webster and those guitars, somebody needs to keep the house clean and Paul's simple yet effective beats are perfect for that. Also, I doubt that Gavin could play a full CC set just like that with the same intensity. He'd have to adjust his style quite a bit. Not saying he wouldn't be able to do it of course. Also, you are completely missing the point of CC. Their goal is not to be musical. And even though the guitar and basswork is incredible, their main goal is to be a rhythm bulldozer and I can't see Gavin adding something senseful in that at all, sorry
His use of the snare in the fist 90 sec is tremendous yet subtle. The almost constant snare roll mixed in with toms and cymbals riding over the bass beat is incredible. Not sure I have ever seen a drummer use the snare like this.
love the way he is playing. i can watch him till the morning. it is so smooth, so technical and so drum is so balanced. he is my idol from the beginning.
Wow!!! I've been a Porcupine Tree & TPT fan for years, and when we saw TPT last May in Nashville, what you don't see is the intricacy of Gavin's playing! 👍🍻

Typical of this gent, pure class. Has the chops, knows when to and when not to use them. I never tire of him. Plus his knowledge on recording drums shows in the sound he gets. Perfection
The fingertaps on the snare while simultaneously rim shotting is fucking brilliant, never seen that before! That had my mind blown in the first 20 seconds, and the rest of the song is awesome, too. Yeah, that was dope... 😃
Forget the ghost notes, the finger thing he does on between the sticking, this man's musicality is absolute perfection. He doesn't get boring, I attempt to play the drums but even I get to a point where I'm boring myself out. RIP dad corona took you from me but it can't erase the wonderful memories I've had for the last 35 years of my life.

The tightness of his finger ghost notes is insane. This man...
