It's time to get back into the skies! Whether you want a hardcore flight simulator or an arcade experience, these are the five best flight games you need to play after Flight Simulator.
The fact that this guy referred to the PS2 Ace Combat games as "The Holy Trinity" shows he's a true fan of the franchise. I hope that when Ace Combat 8 comes out he'll do the review instead of somebody who uses novice controls and knows nothing about the series.
Hopefully we can actually choose our skins before completing the game and maybe actually make some of our own. I'd love a spin off ace combat in ww2 though know that'll never happen.

Freespace rocks. Tons of mods including Star Wars, a port of the original Freespace and a remake of Wing Commander, there's a ton of content. I would recommend Knossos Launcher for installing mods as it's pretty easy to setup and play.
IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battles series should have definitely been among the selected titles. It is by far the most atmospheric and immersive flight simulator/game out of those mentioned. It has a great balance between extreme realism and fun gameplay. You don't get clickable cockpits like in DCS, but the systems are simulated and the flight models are quite believable and definitely a lot better than in War Thunder. DCS has some planes that are very well simulated, but the problem is that there's not a lot to do with them when it comes to the WWII planes. You only have a couple opposing planes that are similar in performance, so you can't really simulate authentic battles and encounters in various phases of the war. In IL-2 Sturmovik, you always buy a bundle of planes that were all used in the specific point of the conflict , which enables you to create much more interesting and divert scenarios and multiplayer environments.
Yup.. the game and modules are one thing and the HOTAS are a whole new level of expensive... oh.. and then you get to the head tracking and VR with powerful GPU...etc!

Rise of flight is free and comes with three free planes. the UI is a little bit confusing but if you go on career mode and filter by the plane you have, you can select a date the plane was used during the war and pick a squadron to play as. You can also filter by famous squadrons and play as them, an example would be the famous "Hat in the Ring" squadron that uses the Spad. Extra planes are usually around 5 bucks but if you catch it on a sale their 1 dollar on their website. Also IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad, a wwii flight simulator that also had a really detailed tank simulator with a fully modeled interior of a tank. IL-2 was made by the same people as Rise of flight so their is a detailed and engaging career mode. also both have multiplayer and a quick mission mode to customize own missions. IL-2 has a mission builder.
Its Funny because people say Ace Combat Is Arcade game and other people say its Flight simulator game. But I like ace combat because its story is different from other game.
Can there really be an after game? You do have a whole world to explore, not to mention content updates later. This game will easily get 5 to 6 years worth of updates.

No Flight Unlimited 2? Did ATC before FS series. Did traffic better than the FS series. Great physics even now. Detailed map of the Bay Area. Can piss off the ATC by doing airshow displays.

Freespace 2 is an experience. Amazing battles and a proper campaign with a genuinely intriguing storyline. Highly recommended.

BMS is technically a mod not an official game
IL-2 should definitely be on there. It's a much more logical next step than going to DCS.
What we need is another Crimson Skies game, period. We need some fantasy aircraft and pirates in planes again.
