I've created vertical and horizontal themes for Foobar2000 2.0. So, if you want to use a vertical monitor, I've got you covered. You will only need a few things:
Foobar2000 2.0 (latest stable edition): www.foobar2000...

The theme called, "horizontal," is the one with the big art (for 16x9 monitors)

A tip for people who are getting used to foobar, right click the top bar and select "layout editing mode toggle"
It adds a button to toggle edit mode, and made it super easy to learn foobar, which was super confusing to me at first. Now I LOVE IT AND CANT GO BACK LOL
Foobar2K is terrible. What music player doesn't show a time/counter for a music track? Foobar2K.

Fantastic video dude, it's really given me the kick up the ass that I needed to reconnect properly with music. I was at a metal festival a week ago and I felt really disheartened that I didn't know the majority of the bands there. I had become a mindless YT Music user whereas before I was grabbing new music manually and taking good care of my offline library and it was a much healthier and curious way of absorbing music. Great guide, I have it all set up to look as much like Winamp as I could, and paired with Retrobar (thanks), i'm having a major nostalgiagasm! Good man.

Only issue I'm having is that the last added folder doesn't seem to be populating. Any idea how to force this?
This seemed to resolve itself after I installed playback statistics and enhanced playback statistics!

You were the first person to introduce me to Foobar all those years ago and have been using it and slowly customizing my own layout ever since... absolutely love it...
I am just curious if anyone else has had an issue with the Biography script not loading photos of the artists, I have it all working correctly except for that (I just get the album art and then the artist image is showing 'NO PHOTO').
I have looked everywhere on forums and tried troubleshooting for far too much time of my life wasted haha but just curious if anyone else has a fix for this.

Foobar2k getting the love it deserves. I am still running on 1.5, but knowing about the 32-bit versions and how 64-bit ruins components is a good note to keep in mind. I'm still running a modded version of StrigUI (because I'm total basic bitch and dig the simplistic iTunes layouts), but definitely hats off to this work of art you have created.
Regarding the 64-bit version of foobar2000 v2.x, we have the progress of having visualization components brought into the 64-bit version (a remake of Musical Spectrum component called foo_vis_spectrum_analyzer, which I gave help to the developer)
I'm waiting for an update to foo_vis_vumeter myself
seriously I prefer shuffling all music on foobar or musicbee more than relying algorhythm of streaming. It always gives me blast from the past.

After 14 years, I'm cancelling my Spotify subscription and back to managing my own music. Really appreciate videos like this to assist that.
I used Foobar2000 when I still used Windows, it is a great musicplayer. On Linux I use deadbeef, that is quite similar. I don't put any effort in theming though but I think it is awesome if people do and if I see a nice theme and I can enable it with little work then I do so.

Will try this. Getting back into foobar, i used to use it because it shows the 6 speaker channels for my dvd audio rips. I use it now because my speakers broke and i needed to play the reverb of my room i.e Impulse Response through my headphones to get the speaker sound into the headphones. Every room has its own reverb, i just needed to save that reverb.😅
Been using Foobar for years and I have always just been slumming it up with the out of the box look. Two panes album list and a playlist section that's it. I don´t need it to be pretty, it just needs to be functional and fast. This does look nice though.

@@teksyndicateyeah for a while i was using linux for all my browsing and stuff and windows for flstudio, but ive ended up just going full windows. privacy and freedom matter a bit less to me now compared to just having better boundaries with technology. spending 8 hours a day on a private linux setup is worse than spending 3 productive hours on a windows computer and playing some games i like
@@teksyndicate foobar can work on Linux with one a click install, but with all your customizations it might be trickier. Game modding works just fine. Plenty of DAWs as well, but maybe not the one you use.
@@teksyndicateya foobar2000 is so nice. I use ncmpcpp as my music player on my Linux computers. Though it's nice, it's not foobar2000. That's the only thing I miss from windows 😂

I'm don't customize that much. I'm just using openshell with the tenified theme and I use the explorer patcher when I have to use Windows 11.

I dont have a profile folder because I've read that it only works for portable versions. So where are the profile settings then for those that dont have that folder?
EDIT: For people that can't find it, it's on the AppData\Roaming\foobar2000-v2
not sure if anyone else runs into this issue but if you get the "corrupted package couldnt find .json file" error its because the json file was in a 2nd folder inside the zip
What a diamond of a video.
Foobar2000 is great. Takes a little while to get used to, especially setting up. One tip is to use the "tabs" container early on. Then you can have multiple setups/views, some simpler and others more complex and others using visualizations (projectM is a pretty cool one). And if you mess up, you have something to fall back on.
Also, I run 64 bit currently just because I get to try new components - because those that update their components to 64 bit 'clearly' care more 😅
I keep waiting for 64bit to get love. I haven't changed up my Foobar layout in over 15years. If I'm going to re-do it, I want it in 64bit at this point. Having 64bit native on 64bit OS, really is optimal.

I cant seem to install the packages for the spidermonkey panel, everytime I import the package I get an error that reads 'Corrupted package: can't find `package.json`'. Anyone got any idea why ?

Hi, thanks for showing the theme and plugins.
I am trying to set up the views so that my first panel shows the artists and the second panel shows the album while have the first panel as a source. The documentation doesnt really help here. It states I should select Source->Select Source Panel and then enter the name of the panel. But where should I enter this?! There is no field to enter anything.

No Linux client for this, unfortunately. I am a recovering deadbeef user, though. These days I prefer musikcube... it's terminal-based, minimal and has a very keyboard-friendly interface.
That's literally the 2nd reason on my list for why I can't switch to Linux. It's that important to me... The first is my music creating programs

While I can appreciate foobar's modularity, this why I moved away and switched to MusicBee so many years ago. MusicBee has a much better default layout, and you can basically get the same thing shown here without installing a bunch of plugins. That said, if you want to customize to the max, then foobar2000 is king.
Before I made this video, I spend 2-3 days messing with musicbee... and I couldn't get it to function like this... couldn't get a couple of my video game music formats to work... and couldn't customize the playlist like this... so I just gave up. I was actually hoping to make a video about musicbee, maybe I still will... but it's just not enough for me, sadly. I think it's good for 80% of people.

Yeah, I am back to using MusicBee. It shouldn't be so complicated to install a theme.

Whats the difference between 1.16.17 and 32 bit 2.0?? I have a bunch of components that work in 1.16 but do not have 64 bit versions and since they are so old, I dont think they will get updated

Same, what I did was just download the 32 version and hit the 'custom' button instead of 'update' on the first screen of the installation. It all went smoothly tbh; Tek Syndicate is goated

there is no such thing in the theme folder, only horizontal and vertical themes
