So basically the creep is the kiss of death for a church. Think of it this way, if the adults love him but the kids and youths don’t want anything to do with him, he drives away future believers, and kills the religion

No one was more effective at making me a non-believer before 10 than the parishioners of the Catholic school I went to. I still get dirty looks from some of the parents when I see them around town. They blame me for their LGBTQ/non-believer kids hating them, and they're not entirely wrong. They deserve it though so I give them a great big smile everytime.

One of the reasons why I don't go to Church. I'm a Christian, however being around a bunch of judging gossipers that will turn their back on you at any moment isnt my style. It's also clear where the rumors about OP came from and was clearly just a plot by Mr. Charming to get rid of OP so his family could get majorly over paid for taking over all of the positions OP was doing for free. He was clearly not truly a believer and more into gaining power to wield over people to puff up his own ego.

My dad was a preacher, and fanatically devoted to my mom. He was also handsome, compassionate, and a skilled orator. He was offered, and refused leadership of a mega-church. He felt that 200 to 1000 , not 10K or 100K was the appropriate size for a church. Twice, he accepted calls elsewhere when women parishioners aggressively pursued him, and the consistory was unwilling to censure the woman . There are many women who pursue, and try to blackmail charismatic preachers. BTW, exposure to an evangelical church has persuaded me to be atheist.

Anyways, I experienced a few things that made me realize that faith and religion are two different things. I’m not religious because of shenanigans I’ve seen and shenanigans like this. Organized Religion isn’t what it’s made out to be.

2 Peter 2:1 - However, there also came to be false prophets among the people, as there will also be fake teachers among you. These will quietly bring in destructive sects, and they will even disown the owner who bought them, bringing speedy destruction upon themselves.
Matthew 7:15 - "Be on the watch for the false prophets that come to you in sheep's covering, but inside they are ravenous wolves."
Matthew 24:11, 24 - Many false prophets will arise and mislead many... For false Christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders so as to mislead, if possible, even the chosen ones.
1 John 4:1 - Beloved ones, do not believe every inspired statement, but test the inspired statements to see whether they originate with God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.

re: Mr. T: People who are habitually abusive have been habitually abusive for a long time, and consider themselves invulnerable. Putting in some time and money will reveal the fact that they have abused others. Relocating and accepting a path to a less lucrative position is strong evidence that he is running from felony charges. It is usually unnecessary to "punish" his attacks on you< when you can ruin his life. It is most unlikely that boinking a deacon's wife is T's most serious act. I would bet $1000 that he had committed multiple sexual assaults on the young women on the teams he supervised. His taxes might also be interesting.

I REALLY hope that this church and "Mr. Charming" didn't turn OP away from God altogether. Having a personal relationship with God is the most gratifying thing that can happen to a person, and these cult like "churches" that dictate how you are suppose to live your life just push people away. We all know what sin is, and we know what the Word says, but until we grow wings, wear halos, and stand in front of pearly gates, it is not our place to judge each other. The ONLY one you have to explain yourselves to is God himself, and he is VERY forgiving, so long as you love and have faith in him. He is demanding as Hell, but also the most understanding and accepting entity in all of existence. Basically, despite what some extreme conservative churches brainwash their congregations into believing, being homosexual/transgender, or having an abortion is NOT a one-way ticket to Hell.
