I have no idea if MJ intended it, but Beat It is almost perfect for metal covers. It's like the song was written to be heard this way.

@Lancebaylis3169. It’s because Eddie Van Halen does the guitar parts and solo for the song. Eddie wanted to do his thing but Quincy Jones the producer said it was too heavy and to tone it down a bit because they also need to get it on PoP radio.
Beat It was a crossover song that Quincy the producer inspired Micheal to do, and Micheal thought that was a cool thing to do so he wanted to do his PoP and R&B things with a more Rock sound for Beat It, Micheal said that he wanted to make a PoP/R&B crossover Rock song that he would buy.
But the producer Quincy Jones had to tone Eddie Van Halen down because as I said they also needed the song to be a PoP radio hit as well.
So if it was up to Eddie Van Halen, Beat It would’ve sounded something close to this.
Beat It isn’t the only Micheal Jackson PoP crossover Rock song either as They Don’t Really Care About Us is also a Rock and PoP crossover song.
What most people don't realize is in the original Michael Jackson Version the Guitar is played by the greatest axe man of all history, Eddie Van Halen. The guitar is what made this song special - and subconsciously drew people in that couldn't believe they were liking MJ. I've heard dozens of remakes to this song, none got close to the guitar. This is the best cover I've ever heard of this song. No one plays like Eddy, no one, but this is a great cover!

I am Zimbabwean (from Southern Africa)... probably the furthest away from Metal, Rock or any "hard" genres of music but damn dude I cant stop listening to this stuff. I loved the songs as they were by original singers and composers but this stuff is turned up to 11.

I've come a rep some African metal bands recently dude. Not sure if they are the already referred here. But quite a surprise for me too as I wasn't expecting to listen from metal bands anywhere in Africa. But as someone said before: music has no boundaries and that includes metal as well!
