    Very unfortunate timing!!! Due to a global shortage of semiconductors, as of August 2 2023, all sales of NEW Suica and Pasmo cards will be temporarily suspended! (Nobody knows for how long) The Welcome Suica or Pasmo Passports will still be available on a limited basis. Welcome Suica will only be available at Major Japan airports. As of now, Pasmo is still available at locations outside the airport. They have also waived the ¥500 deposit. Please check the following links for more information:

    Thanks so much for the tips and the pin drop on Hancho street!
    These are the biggest take away a from this video that helped us while we were there
    1. Get there earlier, we beat the crowd at the Pagoda and got there at 6:00 and had a good hour to get all the shots we wanted
    2. The mountain gets covered by clouds as the day progresses. By noon it was covered in clouds but the morning was completely clear
    3. The Hancho pin drop.
    Thanks again!!

    Thanks for this video, I'm actually going in 1 months time and am planning to propose at the chureito pagoda!! Will definitely take your advice to get there early, will i have room to set up my tripod to take photos/video of the moment ? You also mentioned that the lighting is quite backlit as the sun goes from right to left of Fuji.
    Thanks again!

    5:38 - I'm visiting Osaka and Tokyo soon, and in the week or so in Tokyo, I'm wondering if it's worth the trip to go specifically to that most photographed location by the Chureito Pagoda. I'm worried it could be cloudy. And as a three-hour bus trip, it would take a chunk of time just to go there for a few photos and then go back to Tokyo. It might not be so bad if I can get there really early. It seems most buses can't get there earlier than 8:25 AM; is that what you would recommend?

    Great video! If combining with Hakone do you recommend staying near Hakone or where you stayed?

    • @DiscoveringJapan1
      @DiscoveringJapan1  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Depends on what you're looking for. Very different areas. PERSONALLY, I find Hakone to be boring and touristy. Not the "real Japan". I have a video being released this weekend that will explain what that means.

    Thanks for the video! If we're looking for these 'money photos' and do some outdoor hiking where should we stay? It's a bit confusing the whole Hakone, Lakes area. We're not planning on having a car, just doing the JR trains. Appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

    • @DiscoveringJapan1
      @DiscoveringJapan1  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Personally, I'm not a fan of Hakone. Everything shuts down so early and I find it kind of boring. If you want a place to relax, it's quiet and peaceful. As far as where to stay, as mentioned in the video, I recommend staying in the Fujiyoshida area near Mt. Fuji Station. All the "money photos" are within walking distance. If you're looking for specific lodging, again, I made a personal recommendation in the video. Train travel to Mt. Fuji Station from Shinjuku is about 2 hours.

    I am planning to visit Hakone and Mt. Fuji in a 2 day visit. Should I stay longer and should I start at Fuji or Hakone

    • @DiscoveringJapan1
      @DiscoveringJapan1  3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Depends on how must you want to see. When you say visit Mt. Fuji, do you want to go up ON Mt. Fuji, like to the 5th station or just view it? If you're not on a tight schedule, I recommend at least one additional day for these plans. I personally like to take things slow and not feel the pressure of a tight schedule.

    How was your experience with driving car there with signs in Japanese? We are 2 adults and 2 small kids (3,5) thinking to rent car within kawaguchi area to roam around.

    • @DiscoveringJapan1
      @DiscoveringJapan1  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well, I live here and drive every day, so I'm used to it and find it very easy. Maybe I need to make a video on this topic. Depending on where you're coming from, be aware that Japan drives on the left side. In short, I don't think you'll have any problems.

  • @biobooster7731

    Hiya 👋 can you use your pasmo/suica card or do you need a special ticket to go to mount Fuji? As I understand there are two different train companies?

    • @DiscoveringJapan1
      @DiscoveringJapan1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can get to the Mount Fuji area by train using your pasmo or suica card. You can also use these cards to take a public bus to mount Fuji's 5th station. However, it is cheaper to buy a bus ticket to mount Fuji's 5th station from the Mount Fuji train station.

      @@DiscoveringJapan1 many thanks for coming back to me, love your vids and it's so informative! One last question once you touch in with your IC card do you have to touch the reader again when you get to the other station to confirm how much you get charged or do IC cards have a standard charge across the board? Like we do in London with our "oyster card" a single trip is £1.65 again many thanks and appreciate the video 👍🏽

    • @DiscoveringJapan1
      @DiscoveringJapan1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi again... Yes, you tap in and out with your card. Also when you change train lines. It will be very obvious when you get here. Check the video from 18:09.
