An extra set of wheels is a game changer too. I like camping so I got some 19" wheels with Pirelli Scorpion Verde AS Plus II tires and it's such a trip to be able to take it miles up a desert wash or on some moderate off-road trails.
Had a B9 SQ5, the looks are actually more aggressive than B9.5. The eyes jz look sinister, love what you are doing....Had 2nd thgts on used B9SQ5 but ultimately went B9.5 55 e....better screen, mmi etc...Might regret but keep up great content! Thx for sharing!
Thanks for explaining how lowering links work! I wasn't 100% sure but I appreciate the clarity. I think the front plate "delete" looks better than with the plate. Spacers are always good for stock wheels in my mind. I don't mind you going slow with a project though. I have always done it that way as well with my cars. Also Chik-Fil-A all day!
Eli, You are influencing.... I just bought a 2020 SQ5 not in chalk grey. I was hoping you left the part numbers in the description. I have been enjoying your videos. Crushed them like the Game of Thrones series while I was between jobs. Keep it up buddy.
Blacked out honeycomb RS-style grill for the win. Blackouts on white Audis look great. I've stayed with the B8 SQ5 myself (on my 2nd now) as we get the 650NM TDI version which is just a bulletproof beast.
so glad you ended up getting a b9 -- I had no idea the lowering links were a thing; I'll definitely consider getting a set for mine... appreciate your content!
Watching your B8.5 SQ5 videos is what led me to buy my B9 SQ5 in May. Looking forward to all the mods you’ll make on your new B9, especially if (when) you decide to tune. P.S. Dave’s Classic chicken sandwich from Wendy’s is the best hands down!
sold my B8 SQ5 one month before you bought yours. Saw you got a B9, looked cool. I just got one today. monsoon gray, not nearly as cool as Porche Chalk. Looking forward to the mods. I may follow your lead there.
Another question, after looking at spacers, I notice some are just a disc which fits inside your wheel, which you then use longer bolts to screw into the existing hub, but others are bolted on the hub, then have additional bolts which you bolt the wheel onto. I'm assuming this depends on the thickness of the spacer? Which ones do you have? I checked at 3:47 but it looks like you hadn't put them on then.
@@IgnitionTube much appreciated, your assessment is spot on, height and wheel stance is not dramatic but does it make the car look better, 1000%!! I have done ecu and tcu, intake, turbo intake pipe and simple x pipe. I’m going to chill because we’re on month 3 and it’s more fun in this heat being inside the car than underneath it. Tyler was extremely helpful and tolerant of my stupid questions!
In the market right now. Do you think there’s a difference between the 18 model and the 21 model cars? Like is there a noticeable difference for me to get the updated version or would a 18 prestige be just as good?
I find it funny you went 3 weeks. I got 2 days in with my '18 SQ5 before I got a stage 1 ecu/tcu tune from 034, and 16 days before I got my AWE non-res touring exhaust haha. If you got some time, I'd love to pick your brain on some of the external pieces of the car that have been bugging me. I've been having an absolute hell of a time finding aftermarket support. Loving your progress, keep it up👌
I think I’m going to go with a hide away plate and claim to have forgotten to put it back up if challenged. I’ve just ordered honeycomb for grill and fog grills, and I really don’t want to have a plate spoiling that.
A year later and I'm back with a question, I'll be possibly looking at an SQ5 this summer after my S4 but for the rear links, how many turns did you do? Hopefully you remember because I know you just sold it. :)
They were old ones I bought off of a friend a while back for my SQ5. I've bought all my recent spacer stuff from 42 draft designs, really impressed with the quality of the stuff they sell.
How long was the lowering link install? I’m guessing the sensors yours mentioning is right there? I just got my links but need to install them. Thanks for posting!
Just threw on my tgk lowering links. The pins are a pain in the ass. Roughly a 1.25-1.50 inch drop. I should have new wheels next week then ill try a couple more twists
The only way to go with this model the standard car looks crap with the fake exhausts and the standard wheels look unfinished they look as though they need to go back on the lathe to give them some shape
Ended up picking up a 2018 SQ5 and it's great stock but I do think it needs a little more power, doing JB4 for the meantime while in my warranty period and I'll be ordering these links shortly.
* does your youtube banner years ago * * Finds channel again cause interested in B9 SQ5 * * Get's SQ5 and patiently waits for videos to find out what to do to it * :)
Those lowering links are the same ball ends that hold the gas shock on my skid steer glass door! Small world. If you ever lose the pin, find a Bobcat dealer!
So do the lowering links allow the vehicle to be at roughly the same ride height as dynamic mode while remaining in comfort mode? I also have a 2019 SQ5 and when I have my 21" wheels on I think the ride quality in dynamic mode is a little harsh on rougher pavement and so I usually end up leaving it in comfort. But I think that's mostly a function of the dampers because in comfort mode at highway speeds (around 80 mph) the car automatically lowers itself to the same ride height as dynamic mode, and if you then switch between dynamic and comfort, you can feel it tighten up bit more in dynamic vs comfort even though the ride doesn't change. Would be nice to have the lower ride height but without the rougher ride quality.
I recently picked up a 2018 SQ5 and your videos are kind of what made me go with it. Can't wait to see what you do with this one. My intake is in the mail as my first mod. I'll be looking into the lowering links as well. Any other recommendations for mods for someone that is a novice in the car game?
Hey man enjoyed watching this. I recently just ordered TGK lowering links for my 2018 SQ5. I’m wanting to purchase the spacers to make the wheels a Lil more flush as you have here. Are you able to provide the link to where you purchased them? Also what would difference be with your setup 15/20 F/R vs say a 5/10 F/R? Trying to get that clean/nice look. Thanks!
Spacers are just pieces of aluminium that make the wheels sit wider, you can pretty much use anything for these. You could even try making your own from a piece of timber, but I wouldn't recommend it 🤣🤣 Most local auto stores would probably stock them 😁
Great vid content. I also have a modded 2018 SQ5. What specific spacers did you use? Mine is lowered w/ links and on stock wheels. The spacers made a nice dif on yours. Hoping to get the same ones.

@@IgnitionTube DAMN!!! We used to be friends! "Make cars look cheap..." Are you serious, no seriously?
