    I bought a new T-Maxx 3.3 last year, after a gallon of 20% I got a little overzealous on the tune, and speed runs.. and overheated the engine... lost pinch and compression. The engine would no longer remain running. I decided to re pinch the sleeve myself and do some clean up to the crank, and fang ports on the sleeve transfers. I have not since run the engine so lean. But it has now had 4 gallons more through it and runs like a champ. I have even clocked this truck consistently at 52MPH! (22/36 bell and spur, robinson steel trans gears, Traxxas Slayer wheels and tires) I also shortened all the control arms and axles and narrowed the truck, and added a slayer body. It looks like a proper short course truck, but it's a T-Maxx. The point of my ramble is, I have had amazing luck with this and my other 3.3, the only engine I have problems with is a leaking rear crank seal on an OS .18TM.

    • @thebug4046
      @thebug4046  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's awesome man and the 18TM makes the same power as the 3.3 also running your low speed Needle to rich can make the Front bearing leak remember that the seal in the front bearing does not actually seal the engine they all do leak especially they are incorrectly tuned

    • @thebug4046
      @thebug4046  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Best engine for the money and it's super reliable and tunes really easily and it holds a tune just make sure that you run a decent fuel in it with around 11% oil content and either 20% Nitro or 30% nitro also when you're doing your break-in procedure take your time with it along slow break in process is better than a fast one at least burn two quarts of fuel before you really start to give it hell and I assure you it will blow the doors off of 3.3 and pretty much every way you can think of

    Yep I had a old 3.3 and it blew up at about 4 gallons, I got lucky I bought a new one and it lasted about 1 gallon, for some reason my 2.5, my third engine had lasted the longest , about 7 gallons, a couple years, I just got a new 2.5 coming that I’m going to slap in my tmaxx, I’ve tried a lot of different engines, Honestly, the 2.5 was my favorite

    • @thebug4046
      @thebug4046  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Although the 2.5 and 3.3 share the same connecting rod I think the reason why it's because the Piston is much heavier and there's a much bigger explosion on top of it then in a 2.5 also the new style connecting rod was designed to be much weaker than the old one but yes you're right they do last longer than a 3.3 I don't really like their break-in procedure but with a 2.5 it does seem to work just stay away from Traxxas feel cuz it's really crappy stuff I've been of a longer break in process a decent Fuel and they seem to last a long time

    • @superaidenproductions1870
      @superaidenproductions1870 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      thebug 404 yes I don’t really like there fuel, but I don’t hate there break in stuff, but we al, end up with different. Breaking procedures, they seem to work best with the stock Traxxas engines, once you get to other engines it doesn’t work as well

I've been doing this for 39 years and I've had no problems with the latest 3.3 that been out I do remember they didn't last long before don't know why but mine for the last 2 years I still have them full compression running strong. Remember you get what you pay for ... for a reason.

    I prefer traxxas carb over losi carb just my opinion. I strongly agree with stock traxxas conrods they are junk ive split the conrod on a 10 tank old 3.3 during warm up. Rod needs double brass bushings. Rbmods conrod after break in of every new traxxas 2.5 or 3.3 is a must. Overall Ive made great power outta Traxxas engines.

    • @thebug4046
      @thebug4046  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      With the aftermarket rod and if you throw a decent set of bearings and the best carburetor is the OS 11k you will be really surprised at what you can do with your 3.3 and on 30/9 fuel it will make a big difference

    • @RCfanAddict
      @RCfanAddict 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I cant get losi carb to seal in crankcase neck seems to be too tight. I know os 11k carb will fit perfect but 75$ US is a bit much. Ive been running byrons and odonnels 30% 9% oil for 7 years now and they are great fuels.

    • @RCfanAddict
      @RCfanAddict 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also feel traxxas bearings to be the best aswell. Ive tryed boca fast eddies and vxb bearing and traxxas seems to never leak out front bearing as for others i see drops of oil below flywheel after about a quart of fuel.

      Yeah thats reply trees are pretty weak and the OS 21tm takes at least half a gallon to break in properly if they're tuned correctly and everything is taken care of the right way you can see 15 plus gallons out of one of those engines that's the problem with Traxxas poor quality materials in very poor methods of doing things like their break-in method is one of the worst one of the better brake and methods is the Adam Drake method if you look it up a long slow break in process as much better than a fast it will yield an engine. Last longer tune better and performs better

      Nope it doesn't fit you want the losi 3.4 carburetor it has a slightly bigger Venturi and better-quality needles it tunes and performs better than Traxxas carburetor also run a good quality THS pipe kit and a 30/8 like Byron's VP or bones Brew fuel don't run the Traxxas top fuel it's garbage to much oil poor performance and poor quality ingredients

      Depending on the car. A 19 is faster in a jato then the 3.3. The 19 is a 5 port the 3.3 is a 3 port the 19 is lighter and pulls a few thousand rpm more than the 3.3 witch has less ports a long stroke and a lot more bottom end and midrange its better in a heavier truck like a revo or tmaxx
