If u created an paying online class or course, I will be ur first student, seriously. Stay blessed

      First, I can't thank you enough for the very kind words. Not just with this post, but all your posts. I'm so very glad that these videos helped you. I'm also very sorry that your teacher is not teaching in a way that helps you understand. I will say this...if this line of work is what you enjoy and if you've enjoyed and been excited about networking up to your Cisco class then don't get discouraged and definitely don't quit. Everyone comes across a class, or a teacher, that absolutely will take the wind out of their sails. The fact that you're looking for supplemental videos to help explain things better tells me that you are excited about this subject and really want to learn. It took me 4 YEARS to learn subnetting, 4 YEARS. Now, I could go through the motions and get the right answer during that time but I didn't understand WHY I was doing it and WHAT the purpose was. I HATE that feeling and it drives me nuts. When you're first getting into subnetting it absolutely can feel overwhelming and if your teacher isn't presenting it very well it makes it even worse. Anyway, don't give up if this is what you want and don't let anyone stand it your way. As for more videos...they're coming. Thanks again!

    Mr. Berry, I echo the laudatory comments of your other observers, the last four of which (in current positioning) use words such as" fantastic," "best," "brilliant," and "fabulous." Yes, and more!
    Also I greatly appreciate your sympathy with the befuddled student (me), e.g., when you set forth supportive comments such as "It's okay if you don't understand everything now . . . it took me four years . . . etc." Aligning your emotional state with that of the student is both attractive and reassuring.
    Finally, your use of language (like what words to use and how to link them to other words) is quite precise; thank you! Other YT tutors are not so mindful (read: "hair-pullingly atrocious").
    Best to you from South Texas!

    Berry,
    I love computers, and have always felt like I understood them. After retiring from my first job, I'm going back to school for what I really wanted to do in the first place. I'm taking online courses, and half way into my first semester, I'm given subnetting. I've been sitting on the same set of slides for weeks now, and broke down nearly in tears to my husband last night. I felt like an idiot, and that I would never be able to understand, and that maybe IT wasn't for me and I should find something else. He found your videos and sent me the link. You have saved my life. I've combed through websites, books and lectures. I would feel like I understood, but then everything would fall apart. Your videos on subnetting helped me realize that I DO understand this. Everything you said I've encountered. There wasn't an unfamiliar term. But you put everything in the right order, and I can't thank you enough for that. Teachers are national treasures, and whoever your boss is needs to raise your paycheck!!
    -An eternally grateful student.

    • @kindabad
      @kindabad  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It was a number that I simply made up. I used the number 11 as an example of how many subnets I needed for the given problem. I could have chosen any number as my example. The thing to remember is that no matter what number is chosen, or needed, the 6 steps will stay the same. These steps will also stay the same no matter what IP, or class of IP, you'll be working with. Thanks for the question!

    Wow! Thanks Barry! I'm only an A+ tech struggling with sub netting. Your explanation is the best, clearest, most concise I've ever heard. I grasped 80% of the content the first time. I feel I only have listen a couple more times, then practice and look forward to the fun I can have. I answered (because you are so clear and in plain English) along with you, or before as you present the content so well and in such an understandable way. Thanks so much. I look forward to other videos from you!

      I appreciate the kind words and am very glad the videos were able to help. Definitely keep practicing and work on speed. As you practice, notice the patterns that come up. You'll see that the same numbers are used over and over again just perhaps in a different octet. Once you see the pattern you'll be able to subnet in your head in a matter of seconds! Thanks again for the kind words.

    I applaud you sir ! Your teachings are very affective, I'm currently working on my network + certification and learning through Test Out and I do have to say your teachings are more detailed and simpler than test out !! This has helped me tremendously !!

    Man you’re a god. You just made my life so much easier. I’ve been struggling with understanding subnetting for about 10 weeks now. You explained it in 20 minutes.
