Stallone had one of the best answers to a question leading up to the premiere of this movie. I don't remember what he was accused of they were talking about the movie being so violent and did not promoting any sort of peace and his response was war is natural peace is an accident.

    • @timgimmy609
      @timgimmy609 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I guess violence is more “natural” than peace is, it’s a part of life clearly, but war is mostly a human thing. Not many other animals have large scale conflict in that kind of way. Animals coexist in mutually beneficial relationships all the time though.
It’s not like this movie is depicting war in an accurate way or exploring the psychology like First Blood, it’s just an excuse to be as sadistic and violent as possible.

I want to acknowledge your accuracy on the statement about the Barrett. I carried an M82A1 and that was for the purpose of punching holes through engine blocks (as Buck Rogers points out). It came in very handy during a very sideways mission, but humping that platform even in 2 pieces was terrible especially considering ammo weight. I hated the concussion report because it'd kick up dirt and almost always give away your position on a cold bore shot

2 years late but not having served but felt the weight of one of these at a shooting event I can totally imagine how much of a work out it is to hump one of these around in a combat operation with ammo and other equipment. Must loose so much body weight with sweat alone on operations.

    Sean,
The claymore is capable of being detonated with a non-electric blasting cap/time fuse system which can be initiated with an M81 Fuse Ignitor or a tripwire/initiator system. Our combat SOP on our ODA (1stSFG) during the 90's was to carry a Claymore in the top flap of your rucksack with a 30-second time fuse/non-electric system so that it could be pulled out for pursuit deterrent or for destroying your ruck if you had to ditch it.
The claymore could also be prepped to initiate using detcord which allowed you to daisy-chain multiple claymores together and fire them from a single initiator.
Modern claymores also have shock-tube initiation systems.

Sarah: It's what I'm trying to do.
John Rambo: No, what you're trying to do is change what is.
    Sarah: And what is?
John Rambo: That we're like animals! It's in the blood! It's natural! Peace? That's an accident! It's what is! When you're pushed, killing's as easy as breathing. When the killing stops in one place, it starts in another, but that's okay... 'cause you're killing for your country. But it ain't your country who asks you, it's a few men up top who want it. Old men start it, young men fight it, nobody wins, everybody in the middle dies... and nobody tells the truth! God's gonna make all that go away?

At 19:22, I think you nailed it. After I saw this movie the first time, THAT was the scene I told folks about as I'd never seen anyone taking out dismounts with a Ma Duce in any film where it looked somewhat plausible for the effects of the rounds on people and softskin vehicles.

There are a few instances. 50 cal have been shot at personnel but it is definitely a anti-vehicle weapon system. I was 5'7 and had a problem with a saw so yes yes yes. Screw a Barret lol

In reference to your comments about hating the Barrett because it's so heavy was funny. I had a similar experience with the desert eagle 50 cal handgun. I had seen them in several movies when I was younger. Then I say Danny glover with one in predator 2 and swore I would buy one if I ever had the $$. A few years ago I was in a pawn shop in Georgia. I saw one for sale, so I immediately asked to see it. I had never seen one in real life, and I was determined to walk out of there with it...until he handed it to me. That thing was like trying to lift a damn dinosaur leg or something! I had never considered it being that heavy. I have a colt 357 magnum with a 6 in. Barrel that's heavy enough, but compared to the desert eagle, my 357 feels like a bb pistol. I couldn't imagine carrying that desert eagle around, especially when you add the weight of ammo and extra loaded magazines, so I didn't buy it.
Maybe I should have just for the novelty but that's a big price tag for something I would probably never actually use. My 357 is enough for me I guess. I never go in the woods without it

Loved this movie ( for what it was) Would of been tough to pull off a 80s Rambo today. Rambo saving the day was glorious to watch again. And him going home to the horse ranch was great. Should’ve stopped there.

According to IMFDB, the guy with the M4a1/m203 is US army Ranger Reese. The guy with the DSA SA58OSW is Green Beret Diaz. The guy with the Sig 551 is US Navy SEAL En-joo. The m82a1 Barret is SAS sniper "School Boy". Older SAS guy has the custom Mkssberg M590. Adding Rambo.....Id def assume every single has top medical training.

The ‘wireless’ claymore required some sort of battery. A non-conductive material would be attached the the trip wire. We were introduced to it briefly in ‘95, but we never used the claymore like that. It can be done though.

I remember hunting when I was a young teen, and I'd never shot or been around someone shooting a 7mm mag before. And damn, I remember it feeling like the air got completely sucked out of the area standing behind that thing being shot, let alone when I did actually shoot it, and that was with a muzzle break. Still left a bruise the size of my shoulder on my 13 year old self.
Can't imagine what a Barrett .50 would be like concussion wise though.

I shot a few rounds from the Barrett .50 cal at the range. Good for shutting down vehicles, but not so much fir killing/sniping when there are more practical choices. It was cool to shoot tho.
