Recently it was the World Famous Warley Model Railway show, and Lawrie decided to visit. He had but one problem though - and that was he was starting in Poland. On the day of the show.

I have to say, kudos for showing Loft City Central. The other layouts are gorgeous, and some serious work has gone into them, but it's nice to see that the hobby isn't so stuffy that there is still some room for a bit of unapologetic fun.
It's fun isn't it - same as the Hornby O stuff.

It's very good!
It's always interesting seeing US based layouts at UK shows, it's like looking into a slightly-off parallel universe with an "interpretation" of US railroading. And I'm sure UK folk get the same feeling looking at UK layouts at American shows!
That's a lot of modelling though, it's an interpretation.
Was volunteering on the EMF stand on the Saturday - was keeping an eye peeled for you!

Watched this with subtitles. Love when it says 'MUSIC' when you hear steam engines.
The other chortle was when a sound fitted Class 37 went past and under the bridge.....it said

If that Ruston 44 is compatible with Ho Gauge I'm 100% picking it up when I got funds.
They use the same track so maybe
The heljan one is O guage, so afraid not.
@@lmm ah well, Heljan make good diesels so I imagine it’ll be good for whoever does O Gauge.
I also flew home for Warley, from Bergen in Norway, admittedly the day before, not the same day.
That's a better way of doing it

Nice to see the other side of the pond. It looks very different to me. That CP layout is like western Canada. We're a lot flatter here in the east😊

First time watching one your videos. Great video brilliantly made. I tried to see all the layouts at Warley and thought I achieved it until watched this. How did I miss the Welsh 009 one. Fantastic

I was keeping a eye out for you at the show between helping run the Dawlish Warren layout (also a lockdown project and a layout that leaves its owners home) and looking around the show at layouts and shiny models. Only noticed you just before lights out on the Hornby stand on my way out, as I couldn't stay for layout take down due to no hi vis and not on the elf and safety list to do it.
Should have grabbed me on the way out!
@lmm I saw you were busy talking to the guys from Hornby so didn't want to disturb you.

Love the video Lawrie, I saw some on this video I didn't see when I went on Saturday of Warley. Shame you and your team missed the live steam and the Lynton and Barnstaple modular model railway with the narrow guage pacer!!!
Sorry to miss you - I only got a bit of Sunday.
We got bits of the oo live steam and the modular, but we've seen them in other videos, so thought I would keep run time down.

@@lmm I was operating Freshwater, a 2mm finescale layout of the Isle of Wight Freshwater station from the early 1950s.

One of the traditions I started in order to keep my young nephew entertained while train chasing was to shout, "SASKATCHEWAN!!", whenever one of those cylindrical grain hoppers went by in a train. More than one in a row was either, "SASKATCHEWAN!" "SASKATCHEWAN!" or SASKATCHEWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!", your choice 😁

Hi Lawrie, So without you knowing it you seem to feature a lot of kit built items that my Dad either made the patterns for, or the injection moulds, which is so cool. At 00:40 The Baldwin 4-6-0 my Dad produced and sold to Wrightlines. 01:19 if this layout is 4mm high possibility thats my Dads Kit for a pigeon van at end of train, 07:15 all four Wagons in the sidings behind the red engine are my Dads kits, 08:00 the little black loco outside the shed is again one of my Dads. There is probably a lot more in there, my Dad under the company name Chivers Finelines (which I now run) produced a lot of products and its nice to see them in the wild.
Your comments regarding the sound fitted steam locos is spot on, it seems to be lacking something, steam locos have a lot more bass in the sound, and these model versions seem to be full of treble, where as the diesel sounds are much less on the treble.

Yeah, it's a too digital sound, steam is so very varied depending on what the engine is doing.

I feel like pointing out that at Annascul, the red steam engine and it's train are from the Clogher Valley Railway, which is the other end of the country! No idea what the railcar was based on, although the colours look like County Donegal, even further north! Not meant as criticism, I'd do the same if it were my layout! Just thought it might be interesting.
When I think of it, did you know there is one surviving engine from the Tralee and Dingle? Went north, then across the Atlantic before being returned to old stomping grounds. Not in a great shape or circumstances now from what I know.
I have no idea, I'm just reading from the blurb. That said I filmed from the end of day two where sometimes people just start running other bits and bobs.
Yes, there are always rumblings of a preservation movement and restoration, but nothing yet.
You've got some digital image stabilisation going on, and I really shouldn't be able to notice that. 3:35, the overhead gantry is sliding around the frame. Try a gimbal to elimiate those jitters

Looks like lots of fun! Just curious, you said you drove a Y7, but I can’t find a video on it, was that before you started TH-cam?
I've not filmed with it, it's based at the MSLR where I volunteer, when it was in ticket it was one of my regular engines.

Show was brilliant, I was looking out for you but didn't manage to catch you. My bank account thought it was less brilliant, I came back £320 lighter.
I saw Lawrie literally just as the show closed and the lights went out to signal to the public disappear before they took the stands and layouts down.
