- Lions ambush buffalo and baby! An amazing, yet emotional lion vs buffalo sighting! Dramatic scenes as the Selati male lions start to stalk a herd of buffalo. The male lions have their eye on a buffalo cow with a newborn calf only minutes old. The action takes place on an open floodplain where the buffalo should notice the lions approaching, the newborn calf is not old enough to be aware of the danger...
Two male lions ambush the mother buffalo and the buffalo calf watches the lions unaware the third male is on it's way.
The third male lion leaps on the buffalo calf before assisting the other two lions to bring down the buffalo cow.

all these people bitching about lions and here I am, marvelling the majesty of this almost perfect kill. This is one of the most epic kills I have ever seen. That lion who grabbed the throat seems like an expert hunter.

The way those two brothers walked down in unison and assumed their position was just amazing... their movements matched. They hunt in style-- looking like two assassins.

'PERFECT' kill??? it took half the video for that poor calf to die. To the point where they just ignored him after the first bite, left to bleed out in agony for a while, and killed him later, at the end of the video, after waaay to much time even during the final attack. Those lions were pros, the way they used patience, and waited for the buffalo to come to them, hiding in the bush, then there technique to take it down was textbook, the buffalo sized both of them up, the lions then became reactive, as soon as the first lion saw his opportunity he went for the neck, and the other immediatley jumped on its back. I love big cats!

You can tell those are some experienced hunters. They were patient and didn't attack too early, chose the right target, launched at the best possible time and worked together perfectly to get the throat hold quickly and bring it down. Textbook stuff. No wonder they look so healthy and in such good condition.

It is about that stereotype that 'the lazy males live off the lionesses'... a life span of an average male lion is 12-14 years, from wich they live maximum 3-4 years in a pride excluding their childhood. They take care of themselves. Even, during their pride-life, they are who take down the bigger preys, and they protect their lionesses and their cubs against hyenas and nomadic males.
Yes, clear ! Because of their mane, they are more noticeable than the females, but being stronger, they killed some bigger preys. And, of course, they are very opportunist.

thats what i was thinking. These are probably nomadic males, so they are used to hunting themselves rather than letting the females of their pride do the work. Whilst not the best stalkers their size and strength makes a hell of a difference for taking down large prey like this. Good job, but sad for the calf

yeah it's pretty crazy, but they don't always kill they take down and start gnawing away where they can
they sometimes go for the throat, but also avoid the head because of the horns, so they end up eating the back legs and the stomach first ... while the animal is alive

How they walk together are awesome because their foot steps are exactly the same with the other one, that looks like soldiers. They're so cute and make me want to hug them🤗🤗😃😀😐😐 K - I feel so sorry for the Buffalo & Calf.

@@dd1862 the reason the lion don't see the vehicle as food and don't really identify the people in the vechlie most the time unless really curious. If however they step out of the vechlie will the lion then spot the person. Saw that and was explained in a diff video

I hate when people say kill the lion...All its doing is getting food for its self yeah this was pretty sad down to the fact it was a mother and a baby getting attacked and killed but think about us we kill slaughter pigs and other animals we are the reason so many animals are going extinct so next time don't say kill the lion he is bad.That's like saying kill the lion for eating to survive...

M0D3Gaming They aren't just hunting to live they were placed in that ecosystem after millions of years of evolution. They are there for a reason, that reason being; containing buffalo and other prey's population.
If they weren't there the entire ecosystem would be overrun by buffalos. The enormous amount of buffalos would then eat all the green and it would have a rippling effect, it would all colapse.
Yep, at least least the lions still keep the balance, unlike human.....
