I used to have doubts about my salvation, turns out I was a false convert, I prayed sinners prayer when I was 4 but there was no change, no Godly-sorrow, no repentance, not even any faith. I acknowledged that Jesus died and was raised, but I never had a saving faith. I thought I was a good person but then after coming across Ray Comfort and Todd Friel, I realized I wasn't a good person, I needed forgiveness. I repented and put my faith in Him, I still struggle with lust and sin, but I am in the battle every day not going down without a fight. I have God to thank for Ray Comfort, for God used him to bring me to a saving repentance and faith.

I also supposedly “got saved” at 4, but realized at age 15 upon reading my Bible for myself I was not a Christian and like you had never truly seen myself as a sinner. Praise God for His SonJesus and His Word!

The apostle John writes to you and me:
1 John 3:2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall become, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall become like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.
--> 3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.
4 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. 5 And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin.
--> 6 Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him.
7 Little children, let no one deceive you.
He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous.
8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.
-->9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.

I know I'm saved, and I can tell there's a difference. I'm a new creation. I don't want to look at porn, or hate, or etc. I want to do what's right. I love God. I am sad when I see "Christians" that think they can just keep on sinning and there's nothing wrong. It seems they would feel bad about it and want to change.

It's largely about what fruit we produce ? "You will know them by their fruit". We can't fake it. An apple tree cannot produce grapes ? We are born again of the Spirit of God, and grafted into the Vine. So, the fruit of the Spirit is : is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. And this is entwined with faith in action (aka obedience), humility, ongoing repentance and a thankful heart. Love what God loves, hate what God hates, be transformed (an ongoing process and daily choice) by the renewing of your mind - by the living word of God. Abide abide abide.

Sometimes salvation comes when someone wrestles with those promises of God in Christ for hours, or even days. Instruct the one who doubts to pray and wrestle with God, and to read His word to be filled with faith; instruct them to tarry for the assurance which comes only from God the Holy Spirit.

Paul washer said it best. I think we look at him like wow I want to be like him he is with God, follows his commands, bears fruit, looks like a good example of a Christian. Then i hear Paul say that he wishes he was better for God because there much that he needs improvement on.
We should always want to be better no matter at what point we are.
    That’s a good sign.
And i believe I have strong conviction and repentance and a need everyday to hear sermons, read scripture, talk to somebody about the Lord.
There’s just some sin I cannot stop.
There are better days. But I have faith in time God will destroy my love for sin and perseverance will prove my fists and salvation.
May not be now but perseverance will prove if your faith was true all along.

If you want to be with the Lord in eternity trust in Jesus alone 100% for your salvation. If you want to focus on being perfect and sinless you will never see the Lord, he will cast you into outer darkness. Those of you that have truly repented and cried out to God with belief on Jesus have already been forgiven for all sin in their life. You now live your life pleasing to the Lord because you want to please him, it has nothing to do with being in danger of losing salvation. They keep saying it is life or death for a certain sin you are struggling with? What a bunch of lies from the pit of hell. This is how Satan can put doubt into your life and cause you suffering. It also makes you self righteous and arrogant to other Christians. Everyone sins every day because if ANY of your actions in your daily life don't have 100% faith in Jesus, it is called a sin. You sin without even knowing your sinning! Just because you don't watch porn or murder or lie or steal doesn't mean you are not sinning in some form every day. True repentance is godly sorrow and believing in Jesus alone for salvation.

6:09 The only thing is, the famous preacher David Pawson highlights the verse that "THE HOLY SPIRIT HIMSELF TESTIFIES WITH OUR SPIRIT THAT WE ARE CHILDREN OF GOD" (Romans 8:16)....that there is a sense that IF THAT WITNESS ISN'T THERE, that something is seriously wrong - so that it ISN'T just a case of (as David puts it) "the Bible says it, I believe it, that settles it".....

10:09 Again, we ARE (as I think Ray mentioned earlier in the video) supposed to "TEST AND EXAMINE OURSELVES TO SEE IF WE ARE IN THE FAITH" (2 Corinthians 13:5)....so there IS that aspect

The issue of compulsive sins/besetting sin (pornography in this case, but it can be drugs, irrational fears, affairs etc) comes up occasionally, as it has here. As someone who struggled for about 30 years with this, I invite you to read my blog or to read 'No Demons please, we're evangelical' by Bryan Fraser. The only thing that worked with me was deliverance ministry. And it worked!

    • @riandcaz

Its the casting out of demonic beings, oppressing Christians or possessing the non-Christians. There are a lot of examples within the new testament. Mathew 12 first thing pops in my head.

Follow the link on my profile and read my blog. I recommend Ellel Ministries - they have a few centres in the UK and worldwide, including the US and Canada. Deliverance ministry is dealing with demonic strongholds in peoples' lives, usually brought about through abuse, trauma, occult involvement, generational sin or persistent sin before one is saved. Being born again does not always resolve all of these issues automatically.
I used to be a skeptic over these things, but I became so desperate to get free from a compulsion to use pornography (having tried everything else I could think of) that I went for counselling and it worked.
For further reading, you may try anything by Kurt Koch or 'They shall expel Demons' by Derek Prince.

      I Overcame
Thanks for your reply. I went to the Ellel ministries page and read about them. Sadly throughout what i read there was no clear presentation of the Gospel (anywhere, even in their statement of faith) which seems common amongst ministries which have their focus on healing. I understand you have had an experience but what was the gospel you heard that brought you to faith in Christ? I hope you keep your eyes upon the Lord and grow in grace and the knowledge of him and do not need to keep seeking sins you need to be delivered from as they were all dealt with by the Lord at the cross. I think these kind of ministries keep people looking for sins in their past they need to be delivered from and keep seeking deliverance. It was a common thing to see in a church that I attended which practised deliverance, the same people would often be responding to the call to come up to be prayed for deliverance. I think preaching the Gospel and the teaching of the Scriptures should be pre eminent as this will build up the believer and take his eyes from himself to behold the Lord. When the Gospel is preached (as Ray & the team usually explain) it should bring conviction of sin, righteousness and judgement and bring forth a personal repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Please take no offence as these are only my conclusions from what i see from the NT teaching and my experience. K regards

To reply to your question first. I heard the Gospel by listening to Billy Graham's radio show, watching Luis Palau once on TV and reading the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Those things combined brought me to repentance and faith.
      Quote:
there was no clear presentation of the Gospel (anywhere, even in their statement of faith)
I agree that this is an omission (though they do quote the Great Commission in Matthew 28 and Isaiah 61:1-7, which counts for a lot). Similarly, most church websites neglect to preach God's righteousness, our sinfulness, the sufficiency of the cross and Christ's resurrection to save us etc. This too, which I find annoying. The only comment I would make is that I see a divide in the church. Ray Comfort and the folks at Living Waters will talk about the Gospel and quote Mark 16:15 without the following 3 verses. Charismatics tend to talk about the Kingdom of God (a term that is used more frequently in the NT than 'Gospel' btw) and quote Mark 16:17-18. The only point I would make is that we need to do BOTH, not either or!! Few people I know get both these things in balance.
      Quote:
I hope you keep your eyes upon the Lord and grow in grace and the knowledge of him and do not need to keep seeking sins you need to be delivered from as they were all dealt with by the Lord at the cross.
Thank you and I agree almost entirely! Healing and deliverance only work when the person healed/delivered remains in repentance and abides with Christ. Someone who keeps having to go back for ministry almost certainly has a repentance issue and need to be challenged on this. My only slight disagreement is that sometimes we have to fight through for what Jesus won for us on the cross, just as the Israelites had to fight for the land of Canaan even though it had been given to them. Deliverance Ministry (which Jesus commanded us to be involved in) is one of the weapons in this fight.
      Quote:
I think preaching the Gospel and the teaching of the Scriptures should be pre eminent as this will build up the believer and take his eyes from himself to behold the Lord. Good teaching and a clear gospel message saves us from lots of unnecessary hours of counseling.
      I agree 110%.
      Quote:
      Please take no offence...
      None taken!
      Blessings

I accepted Jesus at 8 at a neighborhood bible study i attended because they gave away Koolaid and Oreos. Without discipling, i strayed and became an atheist by 15, yet for "some reason" began reading the Bible the same year to "figure out how to get Jesus to heal my boyfriend" (back problem). I became radically saved after reading the Word as a teen and have been serving God (the lion's share of years) since 1980. Many times I have thanked God for the seed planted by the Baptists with their Koolaid because JEsus did indeed enter my heart, and He never left me, as promised--even when I was an atheist. It greatly edified me when I was finally born again that GOd had stuck with me all that time because of that seed and that promise. I have gone to many nations on mission trips and have led people to Jesus using Ray Comfort's one-liners, zingers and approach. Wonder what Paul Washer would think of me?

what does discipling the saints look like? what does it mean for pastors to feed my sheep. what does a healthy pastor look like ? if you are a new christian you don't know this. when you don't know this you end up with lots of weird churches. and i don't want anyone coming to me because there are alot of bad churches out there. i will come to you when i have determined you are a healthy church.

Martin Luther born Nov 10, 1483, made claims against his own Church that Jesus founded (the Catholic Church), that donations (indulgences) discouraged Christians from true repentance and sorrow for sin. He argued that WORKS; giving to the poor, feeding the hungry, caring for the sick and other WORKS of mercy is a must do for salvation. When he starts his own Protestant movement, he proclaims by faith alone is a person saved, NOT WORKS. Taking large donations from those looking for salvation by Faith alone. To this day millions still follow this hypocrite.

  • @kenshiloh

I really disagree with this teaching; you do not 'test your faith' by asking questions, "Am I loving others, do I have the fruit of the Spirit...?" Who is the judge: you or God! Can you look at the evidence and declare that you are saved? If so, is it inconsequential if God disagrees with you?
Salvation is friendship with God: no more and no less. "This is eternal life, that you know God and Jesus Christ Whom He has sent." How can you know God and not know it? If you met a celebrity, you would know it, how much more the Lord of glory?
Romans 8.16 says, "The Holy Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God." Do not forget the qualifier, "If indeed the Holy Spirit dwells within you." Referring to the Holy Spirit, Jesus said, "Whoever believes in Me (i.e. knows Me) will have rivers of living water bubbling up unto eternal life." Conversly, if a person does not know the Holy Spirit, if they do not have that river of living water, then neither do they believe in Christ!
Jesus said, "Ask and you shall receive." Ask in faith, saying, "Thank you Lord for filling me with the Holy Spirit." Do not doubt the promises of God, as the double-minded man will not receive anything, but ask confidently, knowing that God always keeps a promise. Jesus Christ is the light of the world.

Heretic. "Repentance" does not mean "turn from your sins", because turning from your sin is a work, and we're saved by grace through faith, not works.
Jonah 3:10--"And God saw their WORKS, that THEY TURNED FROM THEIR EVIL WAY; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not."
Ephesians 2:8-9--"For by grace are ye SAVED THROUGH FAITH; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: NOT OF WORKS, lest any man should boast."
How does one ACTUALLY get saved?
Ephesians 1:12-13--"That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first TRUSTED IN CHRIST. In whom ye also trusted, after that YE HEARD THE WORD OF TRUTH, THE GOSPEL of your salvation: in whom also after that YE BELIEVED, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,"
What is the gospel that we must believe and trust in order to be saved?
1 Corinthians 15:1-4--"Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you THE GOSPEL which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; BY WHICH ALSO YE ARE SAVED, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that CHRIST DIED FOR OUR SINS according to the scriptures; And that HE WAS BURIED, and that HE ROSE AGAIN THE THIRD DAY according to the scriptures:"
Repentance is when you CHANGE YOUR MIND and believe the gospel.
2 Timothy 2:25 --"In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them REPENTANCE to the ACKNOWLEDGING OF THE TRUTH;"
    SALVATION:
Hear the gospel (1 Cor 15:1-4).
Believe the gospel (put your faith in what Jesus did on the cross to save you).
Don't trust your "good works" to save you.
    That's it.
