      Think of the sacrifices the guys made to have those old rigs. All the things they had to miss with their families, all the worries they had to carry about payments, breakdowns etc. In the end none of it mattered as the old iron sits rusting, the material things just dont matter but, you can never get back time.

    Maybe you guys could like this enough to get Bruce’s attention. Bruce, why don’t you swap over the sliding fifth wheel from the Air Force truck cut-off onto Blue Collar before you scrap it? That would save you quite a bit of time in the future..

    • @McClellan71
      @McClellan71 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Is that not a sliding 5th wheel?
      If not.. you're right, that's a no brainer

    • @codyleach2478
      @codyleach2478 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Chris right? I’ve been watching back the videos of the frame cut and stretch, and it is indeed a slider. Just waiting to get bolted on to the Freightliner, which has a fixed fifth wheel.

    • @McClellan71
      @McClellan71 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@codyleach2478 definitely.. no question.. he needs to swap that in, for sure. That's a game changer and he wouldn't have to hassle with it ever again.

    Wow looks like a late 50’s early 60’s Marmon cab over as you walked in the yard, the second tractor-cab over with the protruding nose. Must have been one of the first vehicle there cause of its location. That should be saved, it’s really rare!! Then the 60’s Vette convertible sitting on the ramp truck!! Man it’s incredible the rare collectible vehicles in this lot!!

    Whenever I see a place like this, I can't help but think how sad it is. At one point, these were all new and somebody was really proud to own them. I own a 2014 43' motor home. It bums me out knowing that someday it will probably end up just like these great old trucks.

  • @BIGRIG2005.
    @BIGRIG2005. 4 ปีที่แล้ว +89

    Once you’ve finished afterburner and the freight liner, you should get that Pete at the start. Seeing it has no motor you could put the white internationals Cummins (weren’t you getting that rebuilt?) in it seeing its wiring is stuffed. The Pete’s wiring is only the simple stuff with only electric gauges and headlights not all the full on electrical like the international’s. Then so the white ones not just sitting in the shop, part it out. That would earn you some more money.

    • @Brad.whatthe
      @Brad.whatthe 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      That old needle nose Pete would be a very cool truck to restore, and if he could use the running gear he's already got like you said it would be easy😏👍

      Good point @BIGRIG2005 he can start fresh and less of a headache instead of parting it out and spending less money aside from the Cummins engine so it could have a second life when it’s finished he could flip it to get back some of the money already spent on the international cab over call it a fresh start on the international cab over project

    • @zachswanson5622
      @zachswanson5622 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Either way it would hold more tools and it would always be ready when you wanted to to do any will it start or you could do simple service calls when the truck is finished and if possible if it doesn’t have a sleeper then it should have one in the jobs that require more than one day to fix something and I would install a power inverter to charge your camera battery as well as your phone while doing a job away from home if anything you could get a stretched sleeper for another person to help you as well as space for your girlfriend so she is not left at home alone while you are away which would leave less space for a hitch for a trailer if you needed to use it

    It would probably be hard finding parts but the Freightliner conventional was also a respected truck. Most desirable would be Pete or KW but the Freightliner was a formidable enemy in my opinion. There were a good number of them back in the day but today they would be rare, thus the perfect project.

    if it is possible, to sort of..."vote" for the next project, my votes would be Kenworth and/or Mack truck. (bigger cab, than the ones you did until now) Anything you find on that junkyard and think worth the effort. As for specific model, I have no clue. I'm from Europe and prolly my dad hasnt been born when these trucks have been runnin brand new. :)

    Hey Bruce, here's a fun fact about the Kenworth K-100. In the original Transformers G-1 which was back in the mid 80's the Stunticon Leader Motormaster transformed into a Black K-100 hightop which had purple windows and stripes.

    Now that was a walk...and I bet you didn’t get everything that was in there. There was probably quite a bit covered up by something or other...like vines, trees! That’s a shame! He’s got some really good old trucks in there...some may not be worth fixing up, but maybe good for parts though. Gonna check the video again...slowly to review things. I like junkyards...went to many with my dad growing up. Good memories!
