I am so pleased that you wear a seatbelt. An owner/operator whom I knew would not because he said he was a professional. It was the lack of that seat belt that resulted in his death.
Hey super trucker dan. Another you tube trcuker named Trucking with Schmidt left you a real nice comment when he passed you on the road. Two really professional truckers.
Dan, I keep saying the same thing, I don't know where all the workers went. They all must still be getting paid to stay home! We're in some difficult times right now. Thank you for keeping America moving!
Just remember, every time someone says it's a labor shortage, it's only a shortage of people willing to work for the wages of 10 years ago. Rent and groceries go up every year, but wages haven't kept pace.
These companies are competing with generous government benefits, especially if you have kids. Combine state and federal welfare and a person can sit at home at make $15.00/hour or go to work, make $20, and then pay taxes on that.
We desperately need the people in this country that can work to get to work. I've stopped at four loves trying to get an oil change and ended up having to give up every time just because of the wait
I’m not a trucker on the landscaper, but I sure do enjoy your videos! I think it’s more your personality than what you actually do for a living, but I just can’t wait for the next one. Safe travels😊
You did right Dan because the pickings get real slim for parking south of Chattanooga & I'm not sure if they've finished remodeling those rest areas on I-75 going into Atlanta 🤔. Was nothing speedy about Speedco that time😞
i like your truck man its nice , i also have a custom , its a Kenworth T680 By Ari Sleepers 144' my dad passed it down when i turned 21 he retired. but been driving the custom everyday since 17
The labor thing is really getting bad. Like you stated it’s everything. I retired a year ago December after 45+ years as a heavy truck/bus mechanic. I get asked all the time about working. I drive dump truck a couple days a week, and do some repair work in my own shop. I could be busy 24/7 if I wanted to. I’m not sure what happened. Safe travels Dan, enjoying the videos
Truck and trailer looking good Dan, Bailey is listening like always happy little camper 😁 Well Dan I am going to let you slide this time on the oil change 😂 little over on the miles but that is OK sometimes that happens 😎 be safe take care yourself DAN
Hey man I was just there last week. I took a load from there to Florida. Been watching you since we work at the same place. Maybe I will catch up with you one day
Thanks for the explanation on strapping. What I’m not sure on is how do you make straps pull the load one way and then another? Sorry the oil change held you back so long. Safe travels as always!
Thanks Dan, Teresa, Bailey and Katie. Be safe going through TN/GA/FL state border areas, seems like there is always traffic congestion there. Thanks Dan, that employment situation was all created by the businesses, not wanting to pay wages above the adult poverty line (SC $14.89/hr/1 adult) and also not hire FTE's wanting part time of 10 to 37 hours a week and be available 7 days a week all different starting times. Wait staff, minimum wages + illegal tip pooling (share tips with cooks and other non wait staff) there is a federal labor description on what positions can share in tip pooling.
All of those people who are quitting work or wanting a government check should realize that the new American work force is coming across the Rio Grand river everyday. They are being filtered out across the nation and soon they will be taking those "low paying jobs" for less than what is being paid now. They will be glad to have those jobs because even at poverty line pay they will be much better off than they were in Central America.
When it comes to rates being cut, I wish hauliers would stick together and refuse to do the loads but there’s always somebody greedy or hungry enough to go do cheap work, all they’re doing is being a busy fool they just do t see it 🤷♂️
Going back over my paperwork from 2001. I was shocked to realise that with the low cost of fuel and oil, tyres and maintenance costs back then. I was earning upto 35% more 11 years ago. DOH.
Maybe when unemployment runs out people will come back to work. People are also changing industries they work in. C19 seems to have caused a big shuffle. Your truck looks sharp.
I noticed that when you were going to get your oil changed another truck turned in before you in the uk we would have flashed you in ,I think drivers in the uk are more courteous .
IMO 1 problem concerning the labor shortage is parents supporting their adult children. I personally know young adults who quit their jobs for silly reasons but why should they care mom and dad are paying their car payments insurance housing them feeding them there's no motivation to get a job
Dan, I hear you on the labor. It seems like a large population of labor just disappeared into government handouts, leaving the hard workers. Let me introduce you to another segment of the labor force. It’s the ones that have had enough of bad management, bad leadership who just don’t care about the people they have left. The labor for the people who will not come back has not gone away. So managers are putting that onto the force that’s left. No let up, no care and no increase in pay. Just more a more stressed out labor force who are dropping like flies, it’s incredible. I’m seeing more burn out, more health issues and the ones who have the time in just taking the option to retire even if it’s a lesser retirement package they were working towards. I’m talking about pillars of the work force are walking. I don’t know if America is listening, but the water cooler conversations is about how quickly can I get out of here? And the younger workers are bewildered by what’s going on, the expectations put on them for less pay is far exceeding their experience levels. I’ve never in 42 years of being in the work force seen anything like this, and just I’m eligible and considering retirement very soon. Yup and before anyone comments on the amount of years I’m an uncompensated middle manager; I’m responsible for a section but unpaid for the responsibility. Trying to keep my people motivated but defeated by upper management.
My oil change intervals is 20,000 miles. But Detroit calls with modern oils every 50,000. What is your opinion in extended oil changes. I'm old school I used to change every 10 or 12 thousand. But as soon as mechanical injection went away, I was dragged kicking and screaming to 20 thousand.
Have to say Labour shortage isn’t just a US thing, in the U.K. we have the same problem. The pandemic made people look at their finances and go why am I on 24/7 call to work minimum wage at £9.30ph (About $12) putting my life on hold, sitting by the phone waiting for a call to work, and most of that work is at night or weekends. We can survive on one wage or I can take that other job at the local supermarket or they’ve got better paid jobs as the Economy opened back up. Quite simply inflation at 10.1% here employers need to wake up & start paying a wage people can live on with full time hours.
Hey Dan good to watch your videos when they come out. Hey i was wondering is there a cut off point, rates too low/fuel prices get too high, that you park the truck and wait things out? I mean it is the pitts to fill my pick up up with diesel, it kill me to have to fill up a semis, anyway love your videos man keep em coming and stay safe.
Same in UK, big labour shortages, since UK left European Union and covid, people look at life differently, reliable Eastern European labour went home and business snapped them up in there homelands, and you could set your watch by them, they were that reliable , but UK people won't do monotonous work for low pay, and employers dont want the problems they get with homegrown labour at the bottom of the pay sector ,and in most countries immigrants are over qualified in there roles US, make labour market difficult for illegal migration, you then suffer badly in the service sector, and business have to deal with homegrown labour at the bottom of the pay sector, and the social issues that they bring to work with them.
I’m guessing it doesn’t bother you having twists in your straps over the load? I’ve seen some guys be incredibly picky about this…does it really matter?
Happy mother's day Teresa!
I am so pleased that you wear a seatbelt. An owner/operator whom I knew would not because he said he was a professional. It was the lack of that seat belt that resulted in his death.
Wow two videos so fast!!! Thanks and stay safe out there!
Stay safe and healthy. Good Job!
When I look at the inside the little red Corvette it looks like a apartment. Hello bailey.
Good job men....
Thank you for keeping America moving!
they went to where the pay and hours are better.
Dan keep it going you’re the heartbeat of America
Drive safely Dan. God bless you 🙏.
Good luck and tell Teresa Happy Mother’s Day
You guys be safe out there thank you guys for what you guys do everyday
Just remember, every time someone says it's a labor shortage, it's only a shortage of people willing to work for the wages of 10 years ago. Rent and groceries go up every year, but wages haven't kept pace.
That's why we need a recession to reset things.
These companies are competing with generous government benefits, especially if you have kids. Combine state and federal welfare and a person can sit at home at make $15.00/hour or go to work, make $20, and then pay taxes on that.
That’s where you need to up your skills to make more money the more you know the more you get
Thank you Joe Biden.
@@rathjen72032 let’s go Brandon
I saw you today on I-75 about lunchtime around Gainesville on your way to Tampa I was heading north to Forsyth Ga
We desperately need the people in this country that can work to get to work. I've stopped at four loves trying to get an oil change and ended up having to give up every time just because of the wait

You did right Dan because the pickings get real slim for parking south of Chattanooga & I'm not sure if they've finished remodeling those rest areas on I-75 going into Atlanta 🤔. Was nothing speedy about Speedco that time😞

Hey Dan !!! Have a good ""SAFE"" trip as where you are going has some ""Extreme Bad Driving conditions"" as you are well aware of !!
Thanks Dan, Teresa, Bailey and Katie.

What? No smoke tarp?!😂
Safe travels Dan. Hopefully you won't run into those Love Bugs while in Florida. They can be bad this time of year there.
Wow! 18K miles on a oil change. That surprises me.
These big Trucking companies will take These cheaper loads because they don't have to pay the drivers as much
Put both ends of the straps through a winch, so you can tighten from both sides, this will stop plastic pipe loads from rolling .
same as off setting the winch pulls. they cancel each other out.
When it comes to rates being cut, I wish hauliers would stick together and refuse to do the loads but there’s always somebody greedy or hungry enough to go do cheap work, all they’re doing is being a busy fool they just do t see it 🤷♂️
Basically it comes down to a driver willing to take a rate below cost vs. deadheading for nothing.
Since Love's purchased Speedo their prices have increased drastically.
Wow on milage of oil change , I change mine at 10,000.
Hey Dan, Why no 'smoke tarp' on this load? Guessing it's the kind of pipe you are hauling.
Probably because what the pipe will be used for
We ALL know how most of us feel about the workforce or lack thereof in the US. A Huge Embarrassment. 🤪👎
Dan,
Why work? What oil to you prefer? Thank you!🇺🇸
I saw a Mercer truck in Anchorage last week. Didn’t know your company came up here🙋♂️🐩🇺🇸
I’ve seen em in pa. They must run the entire country
@@JMAC-rs6ey they run all 48
i love tampa

We have nice drivers here in the USA also but we have our share of arseholes also
Everyone is in a hurry and don't care about others in America. It's all about me....
Many new and young drivers never learned to communicate with fellow drivers. Professional US drivers would have made the effort.
👍
To bad they didn't open a do it your self lane . for people who don't mind and kinda enjoy it .
IMO 1 problem concerning the labor shortage is parents supporting their adult children. I personally know young adults who quit their jobs for silly reasons but why should they care mom and dad are paying their car payments insurance housing them feeding them there's no motivation to get a job
Gotta say mommy and daddy held them by the hand too much now they’re the future of the world
If rates suck and fuel stays high you can stay home for a while and or take a local job.
Dan, I hear you on the labor. It seems like a large population of labor just disappeared into government handouts, leaving the hard workers. Big Dan, how come no smoke tarp on the pipe load to Tampa? Thank you for your vids as they are highly enjoyable. B safe sir!
Hello Dan, is there any significance to the number on your hood? Thanks for the video and travel safe!!!
Prolly his truck number

Dan the labor shortage is partly my fault. I'm a baby boomer and we were the largest ever generation in the workforce. Were all retiring. Sorry🙂
Dan won't be far behind y'all he is in his 50's
Hey Dan good to watch your videos when they come out. Hey i was wondering is there a cut off point, rates too low/fuel prices get too high, that you park the truck and wait things out? That lack of workers these days makes getting anything done near impossible. Tire shop said 5 hours to get someone out to you. 🤦🏻♂️
I dont know were the workforce went but here in the Netherlands we need a lot and cant find them, and 4,5 hours? did they suck it out with a straw?
18000 miles on the oil. That seems like a lot?
Alrighty then.
What? Did you say 4,5 hours for the oil change. Or do you mean you have to wait four hour to the 30 minutes oil change?

You know these scabs cutting rates especially in times like these deserve to go under. Keep up your hard work Dan.
I’m guessing it doesn’t bother you having twists in your straps over the load? I’ve seen some guys be incredibly picky about this…does it really matter?
I thought Dan changes his own oil?
Shouldn't you strap it forward and backward because of air velocity ?? Just wondering....
Dan do you run conventional motor oil or Synthetic motor oil in the big CATERPILLAR?
