Much but there not enough room ,but see your tarp jobs ,and over all the cleaniness of your work just puts it in for appreciation for your effort in your work and shows how much u care for how your work is presented maybe more for yourself than others or the opposite either way words can describe what this means to a person like me

    Hello Dan
My ride in Ontario Canada was a 5 axle tanker with the 2 front axles of the trailer that could lift and steerable. Allowed legal gross was 137,500. Computerized suspension system distributed weight evenly on trailer axles. Trailer lift axles could be lifted using lift axle switch and 4 way flasher switch while going forward (below 20 kmh) or reversing

If a trucker has "A long day" . 99% of the time he still only gets paid by the load or by the mile!

being over-wieght always reminds of the time i was 3000 lbs over weight carrying totes of sugar and had to spend the night at the Calif scales and for a local company driver to come and remove 1 tote, then re-scale, then get to the reciever before i was "2 days" late. after that, no matter what i was carrying, i always scaled my load.

Also was surprised to see you turn left off of Liberty Drive going up the hill there where my doctor practices at Indiana University clinic. Do you think it would help to mark the "center of weight" placement on your Dorsey, to achieve your desired axle loads? (Love those weight gauges)

Tips I've lost more freight from my lite weight
Being to heavy than too lite.
Know what your truck weighs empty full fuel and gear.
I've got a scale on my daycab. I LOVE IT.
65 is 34000 lbs on my scale. Everyone is different.
I pull containers so I'm heavy most all the time. My truck weighs 17,700 or so.
I'm a trainer at work. I'm always telling the newbies about axle weights Bridge
Weight the 3 types of tires. The good trainees say neat glad to know it.
The ones that say why do I need to know that. Surprisingly don't work out.

Glad I don’t have those problem. Here in UK I’m allowed a gross of 44 ton. My axle weights allow 8,7 and 11.5 on the tractor, and 8,8,8 on the trailer, in theory 50.5 ton so overloading a axle is almost impossible even without a sliding fifth wheel or trailer bogie

Hello Dan, good vid. my queston is this, I always used Rand McNally road atlas, Trucker Edition for traveling. They have far better mapping than garmen. How come drivers will use Garmen gps and not Rand McNally's gps. I have been using R.M. gps's for over 4 yrs now and never been given a route that was bad. I traveled out to De, then down to the keys and back up to I-10 , across the country and back up to Wa. Not one problem, mind you this is car
v gps. My brother uses garmen, he drives rock and sand in Ga, and he has problems with wrong directions. I wanted to up date my gps and was told that they don't make new for cars and rv's any more but they just went to trucking. Have you ever used this one ?

Why America doesn't run tri axle trailers

    • @jaeinnmoon3279
      @jaeinnmoon3279 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Hmmm, I have seen plenty 3 axle trailers…. I have seen plenty 3 axle drive, 3 axle trailers, but they are not that common here in the US.
      Reason is,
      - most loads you haul is less than 43,000 lbs.
      - there are a few dedicated freight that are heavy, but most loads don’t pay you by the pounds you haul. General rule of thumb is, heavier they are, cheaper the freight rate. For example, for the same distance to haul, a truck load of empty beer cans hauled to the brewery pays way better than a truck load of beer from the brewery. They pay you almost nothing to haul a truck load of beer.
      - the true heavy haul trucks like gooseneck RGN, they have more than 3 axles and they pay good but they are not that common. And I don’t think you were referring to those
      - to haul heavy and have your truck over 80,000 lbs, you have to pay for the permit. Who’d wanna do that when most freight you haul don’t pay by the pound.

I was a company driver with two different carriers, then leased on to a carrier that had their own load board, and now I run with my own authority.
As far as pay goes for doing the same, lease operator would make between 3 to 5 times more than a company driver. And if you run with your own authority, you should make about 5 to 12 time more than a company driver. A guy with his own authority should pull in about 3 to 5 times more than a lease operator.
These numbers are all based on my own experience, not what I heard from someone else.

Dan’s weight limit based on his set up,
      12,500 steer
      34,000 drive
      40,000 trailer
      86,500 = permit-able total
If Dan wants to be over 80,000 while meeting those axle weight requirements, an overweight permit would be purchased. If he wants to violate the axle limit to get a weight permit… not sure how that would work out. I would think that is a safety thing.

@@jaeinnmoon3279 Perfect, that makes sense! Thank you. Now do you always have to have a permit to go over 80k in every state? I am in Washington and we can haul 105,500 axle permitting of course. Now If I have the required axles, 8 I believe. Could I haul upto 105,500 with out getting a permit?
