Maya - I love your violin sessions. This one was quite haunting and lovely. Gave me chills, good chills. And I love how Aladino can be so adorably silly. Take care guys-
We really love your channel! You have a real talent for storytelling that is unique and takes us on a wonderful journey. We also live on a canal boat but in the UK and started documenting our journey in the last few months. Wishing you the best in your incredible adventure!. Lots of love and good vibes to you both, Marina and Myles ❤️
The production quality is really outstanding. Thank you for doing such fine work so carefully and lovingly and sharing it so freely with us. Having magic in the name is really so perfectly fitting. You truly make your storytelling magical.
Outstanding footage, music, and sounds. Takes a lickin and keeps on tickin! Loved the violin piece. We await a hurricane here in Houston, early next week, coming up from Cancun, straight across the Gulf of Mexico, and at us here about an hour from the coast. We are prepared but who knows! Larry Misiak
We luv you...and we luv your trips. Thank you. God Bless. A few years ago Dixie and I got a tent and some camping gear, a Cherokee 140 Airplane and we traveled around America and Mexico. We were in great health and we had great times. Good Travels. God Bless.
Hi Maya and Aledrino, so sad! No more episodes until Friday of my favourite travel vlog. The Rhone to Rhine canal was exceptionally beautiful - it's true the French have a knack "par excelence" for highlighting the romance of their villages and countryside. I look forward to your next episode with bated breath. Please keep playing your delightful violin pieces Maya, they are a joy! As an engineer I love Aledrino's no nonsense factual subtext to the journey - the 2 of you really add something special, point and counterpoint, to this view of your personal epic. Stay safe
You are quite an outstanding filmmaker and artist. Living the dream, never stop, the dreams may change just keep doing what you love. It has served me well. Fair winds!
Thankyou. Another great episode. Can't get enough of them. Interesting the amount of algae. I agree with you, 3 months of lockdown, no canal maintenance, voracious summer growth of algae. I can't imagine that being normal, it would cause all motors to choke and propellers to stop. Carry on the great and beautiful adventure.
Excellent episode. The Wildlings had similar hassles with the canal growth. Using a broom to lean over the side to clear the weed from the raw water inlet occasionally seemed to help.
Nice to hear you play again Maya. Love the channel. One day the weed problem will be just a memory. And one day we'll see you down here in NZ. Yes.?? Take care and stay safe.
Troubles make the world more real and also make your experience unique. Thank you for creating this episode. I love this one too. Continue going north and stay safe, Maya and Aladino! :-)
What I would give to be doing what you are. Just the architecture alone would be amazing to see. Your violin is very fitting in your videos. Greetings from Australia and lots of love and best wishes. Oh you looked gorgeous on the bow weed watching. 🇦🇺
Wow...never seen a canal you could almost walk on the surface lol....those weeds are so thick. Glad you guys made it through with no engine damage....could have been so much worse! I think having Luca aboard for the next section is going to be a bonus for you. Thanks for sharing the ups and downs of canal life and bringing a little joy to our World.
You two are so cute and so in love....! I love how excited you get with a perfect day young lady... your beautiful spirit is infectious. And your violin solo inspiring. So happy you guys made it through those challenging, algae infested canals...
Ah yes, beautiful scenery, amazing company... aaaand weeds slow you down and frustrate the journey. Such a metaphor for life. So, here I was, waxing all sentimental and philosophical like this, and my sweet wife looks over my shoulder and says, "Hmmm, weeds... You know? Maybe that's why YOUR engine has been running so hot for all these years. Your tube needs to be blown out." She looked at me like she had been all clever, but then realized what she said. She turned bright red, and we laughed so hard our sides literally hurt. I start giggling again just thinking about it. Makes it hard to write. Be safe this week out there this week. The Rhine has quite a current, and the traffic is busy. Thanks for sharing your life with us all.
I notice you also have an outboard motor. The guy who taught me offshore sailing said that an inboard motor is all good, but always make sure you have an outboard motor you can connect to your sailboat and be sure that motor can rotate 360 degrees when its in the water. It can be used as a backup motor, to get you off a sandbar, and you can pull it up to clear off weeds and fishing line a lot easier than an inboard motor.
I didn't know we have such beautiful waterways. I am not surprised they are full of weed and not properly maintained. The excuse: Corona. But in truth-I guess it is every year like that. Thanks for showing and appreciating our beautiful country.
Thank you again I look forward to this every Friday it restores my faith in the fact that there are some good people in this world your trip along the locks confirms that keep up the good work I love it
Another amazing video, as always you guys seem so relaxed when faced with challenges and the green slimy algie looked horrible. Really enjoyed the tune in the middle and the lovely footage of the town and the sunset 😁 Glad to see the second went much more smoothly and the lock staircase looked like lots of fun!
Hi there, We are about half way through your videos and you mentioned you husband, this is the first time you have mentioned that you are married, is that true lovely lady..💕🌺🌸
On a boat that small I would have just gone with the outboard on the transom. Easy to service and it opens up so much storage below. Plus a few less holes through the boat which is always good!
I was stressed just watching you gingerly navigating through the sea of algae. Whew! And to think you started so sunny and happy. Lol. But in the end, glad to see you sailed through ok, albeit that one lock. Hello kitty in the end!
I didn't envy you those weeds, it looked like some alien had landed and made its home. The 16 locks on time lapse was awesome, what a great drop. Loving your films as always. Nick.
Hey you guys! I loved this video so much and your channel has really become one of my favorites. What a sweet couple of talented good hearted people. Sailing in the Med is cool but there's something more romantic and uniquely interesting about canal travel. I hope to meet you out there someday. Cheers!
I think maybe this huge amount of seaweed is a result of very high values of nutrition (more specifically nitrogen) in the water, which again may be a result of fertilizers used in farming, nitrogen in soap(?) used for washing clothes, or maybe leakage from the sewer. (A little hard to express in English, it's not exactly my native language!) Never seen anything like that before, and I guess it's just getting worse towards the end of the summer. Would be interesting to know what it's like in winter...
you're probably right, and I bet a little amount of pocket change on fertilizers of the tremendous corn fields you can find now everywhere.....I got the same problem in a little creek, in Alsace too, which becomes totaly unfishable during summer times ... lots of people call them "Monsanto Algies".....
@@chrisneedham5803 I'd have to take a tiny bit away from the 10 as seaweed does not grow in sweet water. And we have to add the phosphates to potential culprits. That all said, the water looked very clear. Generally with algae the water gets very murky. They may have just been aquatic plants. The water not really flowing between the locks plays a role and, no doubt, there is "accidental" over-fertilization in the countryside around these waters.
Your narration is always soothing. I also enjoy you two having positive attitudes. Wildlings sailing just went the other direction through France. I believe they had a bit tougher time with the weeds.
You were so lucky with the weed. Mark and Nadiana from Wildlings Sailing had days of that weed when they traveled through the french canals. Looking forward to the rest of you travels to the North sea.
