Watch my reaction to the second episode already!: Patreon.com/larissazeeuwe 🤩
Swedish? Accent im a translator. I don't want to look you up buy im danish. Which is my second thought. I speak a few other languages. But when I hear a accent. Iike to identify it. I was a opera singer and I hear inflections in speach identify body language observe backgrounds (get more art. Brighten your world) I am going Swedish cause I know how stark we Scandinavians are. Dang it italliano 😢 im so wrong. Buen veniou
@@mccollumparkfarmersmarket7836 My guess is Dutch -- I know I've heard this kind of accent in Amsterdam.
@@mccollumparkfarmersmarket7836 agreed
I don’t think I watched a lot of this show. I don’t even know what channel it was on, but I remember liking it.
@@mccollumparkfarmersmarket7836 I'm Dutch. And guessing by her name and accent, I'm fairly sure Larissa is also Dutch.
Underrated show; deserved a longer run.
same goes for pushing daisies :(
Did you see the movie too
after Mandy P. left, show went over a cliff.
Totally. Was so sad when they stopped it. So many question unanswered. And a sh*ty movie 5 years later...
Woah... a Dead Like Me reaction... this is like spotting a unicorn.
Its a great show, ended to soon, and had a great and unique premise... one of the forgotten gems from the 00's, that even back then it went under the radar. It came out about 10 years too early to be honest.
Wow, it's so rare for people to react or know about dead like me, this show is the first show that got me into Bryan Fuller and his works are amazing...when they last. Please keep going, also with the movie after the series.
My favorite TV show of all time is Fuller's "Wonderfalls". It got the same treatment by Fox as killed "Firefly", but fortunately is now available on DVD and TH-cam. th-cam.com/video/Y8i9b_Ezvfg/w-d-xo.html
This one and Pushing Daisies are hidden gems that didn't get the attention they deserved in their time.
If this show had aired in this age of TH-cam reactions it would be everywhere. So inventive and always able to surprise with the deaths.... So happy to see somebody find it.
i know right? a great series loved it. The only thing rarer is reacting to Eureka.
The only good season is the first season. After that they fired Fuller because he wanted to make George's dad gay, and the network wasn't having any of that, but the show was just terrible without him involved.
Loved this show. It never found its audience, but was great while it lasted.
Wow! Dead Like Me is one of my all-time favorite TV shows! I think it's so underrated and gets slept on a lot. It's so great to see someone giving it a shot. 😊
Did you see the movie
Well, this was a nice surprise! People reacting to our "toilet seat girl" are _far_ to rare! I have a soft spot for dark humour, and this series certainly hit that spot! I also like that they included some more philosophical aspects to the series. It can be quite serious at times, but as you said they balanced that out with some dark and often absurd comedy. It's a shame that it was only allowed to last for two seasons, but it was enough for me to rank it as one of my favourite shows ever!
Our "Toilet Seat Girl"... {sigh} How I've missed George.
edit: There is a movie follow-up. I think it's free on TH-cam.
One of my favourite shows of all time with George Lass one of my fave characters so wonderfully played by Ellen Muth. Hope you enjoy.
This show is criminally underrated. I was so disappointed and still am that it didn’t get more seasons, though it oddly got a terrible movie.
Presumably they thought they could squeeze some life out of a show they already ruined that had been off the air for 5 years at this point. When you consider that the director behind Critters and Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure was behind the camera they must have done something really wrong along the way for it to be so terrible.
Again, after Mandy P. left, no show.
Best part of the movie was the Reggie and Georgia time.
So cool seeing someone react to this show! A real hidden gem. Nothing else quite like it.
Finally someone reacting to Dead Like me. I adored this series when it came out and told everyone about it. It had some of the best writing and characters I had seen in quite some time. I was gutted when it was cancelled after two seasons, but thankfully they gave it an ending or it would have haunted me forever. Sadly, most of the writing in Hollywood sucks to high heaven and has for quite some time, and I have held this series as a standard to much of the shows that have been released since.....most of which have fallen very short. When this came out it was finally something new and not just another Network stealing an idea from another network. This series is pure Gold.
Such a fun show one of my favorites.
Wow, I've never seen anyone react to Dead Like Me! It's such a unique and fun show! As I paused the video before you started reacting in order to write this, I'll just say I hope you like it!
This one puts me to tears every time. Such a beautiful scene with the girl and the amusement park and perfect choice of song.
I haven't watched this show for a while, I'd forgotten how fun and quirky it was. Now I feel like binging this one plus Pushing Daisies and The Good Place.
If you never saw Wonderfalls, it only lasted part of one season but it fits right with these shows. The problem is that is was on Fox, which cut a lot of great shows.
Forking do it
@@jd190d Oh yes, Wonderfalls is good too. It's a shame it ended up having so few episodes.
@@TerryNationB7 I saw it on network television. It showed 3 episodes, was off for 2 weeks then aired 2 episodes, off for a week, another 2 episodes and then no more. Fox is the graveyard of many potentially great series.
The creator of Dead Like Me also created Pushing Daisies, Hannibal and Wonderfalls. I really love Wonderfalls, it only got one season but the cast has so many great actors. There were already established, others went onto massive projects.
It's a very good show with lots of laughs and dark twists at times as well and there is also a movie that wraps it all up. I was surprised it got cancelled because I enjoyed it so much and I love George and Roxy Rube as well. Glad you enjoyed it
Rube's fault it got cancelled. Mandy Patinkin went after more $$.
Wow, you are the first person I recall reacting to this show. This is one of my favorite shows ever, really smart how they managed to show a matter like death in a really funny way with taste.
I bought the DVD's of this show to watch. After I was done with the entire program I put them away. Much later my wife decided to watch the first episode. From there she binge watched the rest of the series. Still one of my favorite shows.
One of my favorite shows! I'm so glad people are still discovering it.
Me2
As has been said elsewhere in the comments, Bryan Fuller has produced some great, but criminally short-lived tv shows. You should watch all of Dead Like Me then move on to Wonderfalls (a girl finds that inanimate objects in the form of animals start talking to her and telling her to do stuff) and Pushing Daisies (a man grows up with the ability to bring people back to life by touching them, but if he touches them again, they die again, and if he doesn't touch them again within a minute, someone else dies). While all three shows were cancelled, they had acceptable conclusions, so you can invest in them knowing they don't stop on a cliffhanger.
One of my favorite shows, glad to see it still getting remembered.
What a nice surprise that YT floated this up to me. This is an old favorite, sadly unrecognized as the unique gem it is. The first I've seen of your work, I'm certainly going to check out some more. It was fun sharing this with you. Keep going! I'm in!
Wow, I wasn’t expecting someone to even know to react to this show.
Such an underrated show. So much of the script is part of my regular vocabulary. 😅😅
This show has the best opening credit sequence of any show ever.
I was telling my 30 yod son about this show. I showed him videos on youtube and now he is hooked.
A fun & quirky show through out and I absolutely loved “Boom, boom,ba” from the moment I first heard it!
this is one of my favourite shows of all time, great to see someone doing a first time reaction to it
I was so surprised when i saw you were reacting to this show. I watched it years ago and really enjoyed it but hadn't thought about it in years. I'll definitely be watching if you decide to watch more!
I've loved this show so for many years. Found the full DVD box set plus the tv movie they made after it, in a thrift store one day snd snatched it up. So glad someone is watching it!
Such an underrated show! So glad to see it get some attention.
Holy sh*, this takes me back. Ha. Great show.
This show was a little gem. One of those that didn't met the success they deserved, and got cancelled way too early. And alas, as they are less known, there is also less people to react to them. So, even though I swore to myself I won't start following any new reactor.... you'll definitely have me staying tune in for the time it'll take you to react to this season and a half of great television !
Have you seen the move they made Dead Like me Afterlife?
@@debrameyer1125 Alas no, not even sure it was ever released (on physical format) or aired, here in France.
I love this show, like others have said it sorta flies under a lot of peoples' radar. It really has a ton of heart!
My fave show literally. So underrated it’s unreal. Really should have been way more seasons
Love this show so glad you are reacting to this one.
I love this show! It’s so underrated, everytime I talk about it nobody knows it
I love that you're reacting to this show. I bought the whole thing on DVD. It was stupid why the network cancelled it, because it was doing pretty well.
So happy to see someone doing reactions to this show, I really liked it back in the day. If you like this I suggest Pushing Daisies
A bit of trivia. When we first meet Mason he was ‘escorting’ two druggies. The druggie on Mason’s left is actor Stefan Arngrim. I first saw him as a cute child actor in 1968 in the TV series ‘Land of the Giants’, a sci-fi series about a group of survivors transported by accident into a ‘Land of Giants’, which was us. Which made the lead characters tiny aliens? Stefan’s sister is actress Allison Arngrim who was Nellie Olson in the series ‘Little House on the Prairie’.
Such an underrated show. Love it immensely, have both season 1 and 2 on dvd( rarely buy shows/movies but had to buy this shows season's).
Such a quirky premise of a show, i loved it.
One of my FAVORITE shows. BRILLIANT. And has Mandy Patinkin, one of my favorite actors (My name is Inigo Montoya....).
I loved the relationships of the characters in this show.
Amazing show from a golden age of mature TV.
When you finish it, I recommend "Wonderfalls". Just 1 amazing season.
Well done I think your the first person I have found who watch this old show .
It's been a long time since I watched this show .
I love the movie they did ,only way I could get it in England was to buy the Dutch release that had the English version included ❤
Criminally underrated show! I've watched it 3 times and I think I'm going to have to find my DVD player to give it another go!
Keep going, I think you'll enjoy it!
This is one of the best shows ever. It deserves 1000 people watching and reacting to it on this platform.
This show is GREAT. So glad to see someone react to it! An ex-gf introduced me to it years ago and it's still one of my faves. Also, Wonderfalls. And Pushing Daisies. Basically, anything by Bryan Fuller is really good. And the quirk of how his female leads always have traditionally male nicknames: George; Chuck; Jay.
Michael (Burnham of Star Trek Discovery)
After the 2 seasons there was a special a few years later - it was as long as a feature film "Life After Death"
What I like about the show is what you pointed out - that there's a really good blend of humor and dark contemplation. In one moment you're laughing because it's all so surreal and Mason's calling George "toilet seat girl" (what an unfortunate nickname, lol), and the next moment they make you think, by having a character point out to George, "You weren't really doing much with your life, anyway, were you?" Makes you think about your own life and whether you're noticing the little things, joys and sorrows, or if you're just living day to day not paying attention, working and sleeping and living almost on auto-pilot, and how you might be able to take that lesson and apply it to yourself so that you can appreciate life more fully.
Plus, I like the idea that there's a grim reaper that takes your soul before a horrible death (or before any death), to give you some mercy. There's so much awfulness in the world, it would be a comfort to know that your passing is peaceful... even if a piano falls on you or you slip on a banana peel. 😉 And then you get taken to where you were most happy (like the little girl and the carnival / theme park). That would be nice. ❤
im very happy you discovered this show! it was my very favorite show at the time it was on and i was furious it didnt get a 3rd season. but no spoilers...the way season 2 ended i thought was perfect. i look forward to rewatching this with you! you will love it i promise...
This was shot here in Vancouver. There was also a Dead Like Me movie which was a follow up to the tv series
So excited to see a reaction to this show! It's one of my favorite shows of all time, and I don't think I've ever seen anyone react to it before :) Looking forward to seeing how you like it as the show goes on!
Oh I'm excited, I love this show! So underrated.
I remember this on TV. It was a really good show. It was fun getting to see the pilot again.
One of my favorite shows from back in the day! great reactions... Subscribed!
Don't know if you would've got it but if not, the bit about "hawking beer" is a reference to the budweiser commercial with frogs on a log.
This was an old favorite. Great cast, and Mandy Patinkin is just so good. They do all have their own complex ways of handling things, but then end up dealing with the various deaths compassionately.
And yeah... quite a dark comedy, they do the tone so well that when it gets sad, it has real impact, and it takes good moments to really let those serious emotions breathe.
Possible the best "episode" of this show isn't even in the series - it's when the series creator re-imagines the entire show in an episode of another series he did - Hannibal.
Was a big fan of this show as a kid. Definitely one of my favorites.
I don't know anyone that has actually seen "Dead Like Me", but I remember running home from work on Tuesday nights to watch that show. It's a hidden gem.
Larissa!!! YES! YES! YES! One of my all-time favorites. I can’t tell you or anyone else why I love this show so much. It haunts me to this day. Filmed in my home city of Vancouver, B.C. Many episodes were filmed in my surroundings. The opening scene with Betty (redhead in blue dress) against the Vancouver skyline was filmed on the 5th-floor helipad of the Vancouver Canada Post main building where I worked for 10 years. A later shot of Betty, Mason and George sitting on top of a domed building, this was supposed to be the Sun, a heritage building in Vancouver where you can’t film on. A replica of the Sun dome was instead placed on the Canada Post helipad where the actors sat on. This is the only series where my dad, my late mom and I loved and watched together. It is funny, tragic, heartbreaking and haunting. The Vancouver Canada Post building is now closed and abandoned where a vampire apocalyptic series ‘Van Helsing’ used the 5th floor cafeteria as the heroes’ home base and a big battle in the first episode took place in front of the building. Vanessa Van Helsing has an establishing shot where she stands on the same spot as Betty, but this time you see an apocalyptic Vancouver skyline! It was eerie to see my place of refuge, the cafeteria, looked like it belonged in ‘Silent Hill’!
I came across this show in 2010; found it online and binge-watched it through the entire series and the movie that followed (yes, there's a movie with the original George). It's quirky and fearless and very smart and philosophic. The music is incredible, the storylines very original.
Absolutely great show.
I understand why the series only ran 2 years; originality can sometimes only stretch so far. It began to get threadbare in the 2nd season. I was so sorry to see that. Sometimes there's only so many stories in a concept, and attempts to overstretch just makes the patches more obvious.
I encourage you to watch ALL of it! And congrats for finding this.
So excited to see a Dead Like Me reaction! Subbed.
I envy you your journey as you watch this show for the first time. It was a great show and one I've rewatched a few times.
I remember seeing this pilot when it first ran, got hooked. Was a great series.
Oh, I used to watch this show years ago, it's so unique and an interesting twist on the whole Grim Reaper idea, I'm happy to see someone reacting to it 😊
This show has very similar feel to the excellent show "Wonderfalls" which was Brian Fuller's next show after this one.
Yeess this show is so underrated! Please continue!
I love this show
Ellen Muth is great in this role and even looked the part when I saw her a couple of years later at DragonCon.
Always loved this show and watch it whenever they put it on TV.
I just randomly found your channel and what a coincidence. I was thinking about this show not too long ago and wanted to watch it again but I didn't know where it was streaming if at all. I love this show and so happy to see you reacting to it.
Mandy Patinkin is awesome in this show.
You may know him from Criminal Minds or The Princess Bride.
( Inago Montoya) "you killed my father prepare to die. Lol
Love this show the first tiem around... so glad that it still holds up!
Great choice got both seasons on dvd .
I remember watching this like 100 years ago on TV.
It's a good little show.
This show is so amazing always loved it still do and rewatch occasionally
This was a fantastic series!
I’m so late but excited that I found your reactions to this underrated series.
I love this show. It got me through some tough times.
It is jodelle ferland, this episode was from 2003 she was 9. I'm a fan of hers too
One of the few shows I have on DVD.
Anyone reacting to DeadLikeMe gets my sub! I think you're gonna really dig this series Larissa... The only bad thing is that it's only 2 seasons long. See ya!!!
OMG finally a reactor is doing DLM. Easily in my Top 5 shows of all time, right up there with Firefly. So underrated.
The first episode and the last one are the best. The ones in between are all classic. The show was perfect for two seasons. Im sure it hurt people that it got cancelled but really it was the perfect ending.
I'm glad you are watching this series. It's very different than most shows. I excited to see your reactions!👍
One of my top 2 all time shows. So few people have given it a try since its so old. Hope it continues on.
Great eye noticing Jodelle Ferland.
OMG I couldnt even wish that someone would react to one of my favourite but yet underrated shows!!!
Was really surprised to see this one pop up, one of my favorite shows that no one knows about.
Loved this show when it was on sky one in the UK.
So great to see it get love in 2023. Subscribed 😁
Also I pretty sure the funeral home was the same set for sunny dale high, I recognise a lot of it's architecture
My wife and I loved this series when it came out.
One of my favorite shows of all time
YEESS finally a reaction to this show!! it's short and such fun, wish it went on for many more seasons :c thank you for this
When I was in high school my dad also dropped his keys down such a gap in an elevator. It was in the elevator up to our apartment when we had just come home, we had gone out together to do something and i figured i did not need to bring my keys since he had his with him... never again.
He also had the audacity to ask me to CLIMB up the rain down-pipes to our balcony were the door was open and when i said no with disbelief he had the stomach to give me the comment "when i was young i could have done it"...
I loved this when it first aired and bought the dvd box set. I was so pissed when it got cancelled. ☹️
I loved this show.
Dead Like Me is quite possibly my favorite TV show of all time.
I rewatched this about a year ago. I legit had forgot how funny it is.
BTW, balance your volumes. In order to hear the TV show, I have your voice so loud the whole house vibrates.
I thought I was the only one that knew about this show, and the movie. One of my favorites
