I must admit your not my fav. Content provider. But this is one of the best videos you have put out!!!! I plan on retiring early and living abroad most likely somewhere in SE Asia. I think this is a must watch video. Bravo 👏👏👏👏👏👏
This one went deep into thoughts, feelings & purpose. I'm currently booked to visit the Philippines near the end of the year for 2 months. Then that will be followed by additional visits over the next 3 years for 2-6 months at a time. After that I'll be there full time and that's something I'm very much looking forward to. Although the kind of life I'll be living won't be what most people want that end up moving to the Philippines. As for me, I'll be learning to speak Ilocano fluently over the next 3 years because in reality there won't be many foreigners in the area I'll be living, and I think it's essentially to my integration into the culture. My thought is that if I can't speak the same language they talk to their friends using it makes it more difficult to be friends with me. Because of that I'm putting the responsibility on myself to learn their language. I found over time that what makes me happy in live is to hear the life stories of those who are winding down the last years of their life. Instead of reading books, I love hearing these stories and learning from their life experiences. While growing up my best friends were the WW2 vets and my weekends were always spent helping them in their yards while they told me the stories of their lives. What I feel compelled to do now is to hear the stories of the people of the provinces of the Philippines. But I know that in order for that to become a reality they need to be able to tell me their story in their native language. I'll then translate these stories and share them via TH-cam or other platforms so these stories don't end up passing away when they do. But all that said you were absolutely right on the items you covered in the second half of the video. Kindness goes so incredibly far in the life of individuals, and it gets more rare every year. Even in a society where everyone gets a trophy, people don't get called out for the great things they do, or when going above & beyond expectations. When everyone gets a trophy, it doesn't provide much incentive to push beyond the minimum. (All just my thoughts, so feel free to disagree). But all that said, kindness towards others isn't a trophy, it's providing a basic level of respect with an attitude of gratitude. I did well at expressing that kindness & gratitude for many many years, but after watching this video I realize that I've stopped doing that. That I've succumb to doing the same thing as everyone else. Looking back I now realize that I stopped after both of my parents passed away in addition to all of my old friends (WW2, and Vietnam war aged friends). After that realization it becomes evident that I need to get back to my roots of kindness with an attitude of gratitude. That by practicing it now while in the US, I'll be able to have it again full time when I visit the Philippines without having to try. Thanks my friend for this video, as you've helped me recognize something that I lost, and that by my own actions I can get back again. Much love brother and I hope you have an incredible day!
I am learning Tagalog and a little Ilocanos. There are some Tagalog and Ilocanos vlogs online. I also am learning it from my Filipina girlfriend. But, I won’t move to the Philippines for a while. I have visited the Philippines and plan to visit it more. I was in the province and did meet one American in town while I was there. I would like to have Filipino and western friends. If I move there, some day, I hope to play guitar at a club a couple nights per month, do some part-time math or physics tutoring, go on a daily walk, and go swimming regularly.

I am moving to the Philippines November 15 hopefully permantly, your comments about getting away from shitty cold wet miserable weather is so relevant, i find it so depressing. I agree about needing a sense of purpose and having something to occupy your time and mind, i am bringing over a bass guitar i used to play 20 years ago and will relearn that along with getting my motorbike licence 3 years ago so i can legally travel around the Philippines and explore. Thanks for posting.
As a guy going through something of a transition myself, I think this was your best video yet, Phillip. As a gym rat my whole life, thankfully I’ll always have that to occupy at least some of my time. Unfortunately, I don’t think the Philippines is the answer for me relationship wise, but I hope you find what you’re looking for there.
Thanks for your appreciation John. Relationship wise, I feel the same. I believe I took a different path which doesn't involve same girl, same city. Unless Ms.Universe miraculously appears to prove me wrong.
I think its awesome. As long as you have money in the Philippines you are king. Filipinas don't care that you are old. They aren't even looking at you......they are looking at your wallet. So enjoy it boys.... just keep a tight rein on the bank account. You will have beautiful women as long as you want.....as long as you have money.
