  • The time has come! Welcome to the first of several parts of 5 speed manual swapping my 1998 Honda Accord. In this video, I'm just taking care of all of the little/easy stuff that I can before my friend gets here to help me with the rest. DISCLAIMER: THIS IS NOT A STEP BY STEP TUTORIAL. It is a general overview of what needs to be done. There are plenty of online forums and such which break it down in more detail. I suggest you go check those out after watching my video series.

I didn't do the wiring, my friend did, and we didn't really save any notes on it, but essentially you need to cross reference the speed signal circuit in the service manual for both the auto and manual cars and recreate it. We reused a couple of wires we cut out of the AT harness as power and signal for the speed sensor and repinned a wire at the ECU (which we briefly covered in the video). That's all I can tell you unfortunately

You can flash the EEPROM in the gauge cluster, but it's so frustrating and you need to desolder the EEPROM chip from the board and flash it via special software(If you have a arduino, then it's easier)
But replacing the aesthetics over to the other gauge cluster is a good choice too

It had a CEL on for an O2 sensor, other than that just a whole lot of deferred maintenance. If you watch the other parts you'll see how fucked the clutch was lol. But it drove fine, and the transmission was perfect which was basically all I cared about.
