Pierre Poilievre, Andrew Scheer and Stephen Harper repeatedly voted against allowing same sex marriage. Poilievre even voted to take away rights protected by the Charter of Rights and Freedoms later on. He denounced the LGBT community at the March4Marriage, where he was a celebrity speaker. Equality for marriage became legal nationally, in Canada, in 2005. In 2016, 11 years later, the Tories voted to no longer attempt to turn back this clock. More than 30% of the voters at this convention tried to prevent this.
As a conservative, it's ridiculous how religion is still tied to conservatism when we as a society can function and progressive well beyond without religion. Sad to say this, I'm not sure if I'll vote for Andrew Scheer this election.
@@candyserrano6507 😑 Well I refuse to vote for a government that only represents a small pocket of voters. A good leader represents all (most)of its people, and no parties seem to do that. Upon same sex marriage, why does it affect you? I'm curious?

The family unit is any family that loves each other. I've met plenty of nuclear families that were wildly dysfunctional and terrible for everyone involved.
And this is why I could never vote Conservative. So much hatred for absolutely no reason. This party is a travesty.
No reason? Do you not understand basic biology.

Well, I refuse to vote for a government that approves same sex marriage. I need a leader to represent me. I will not vote, if no one represent me.

We do need the family unit back. I agree also that the government should stay out of the bedroom of Canadians.
