I love same combinations, but you are wrong, tomato is not a fruit, it's a vegetable. In Russia we think that the tomato is vegetable, like a cucumber, but in Egypt a cucumber is a fruit. Fruit or vegetables - it is defined culture of the region and ways of eating. In Russia we eat fermented cucumbers, pickled and raw, as in Egypt, eat only raw.
People often confuse the concept of "fruit" and "berry", tomato - berry, but in the usual sense and traditional - vegetable. Just like a pumpkin. Watermelon - berry, but fruit.
Honestly, I thought that such disputes are only in Russia :)
    Thanks for recipe, as always!

the name of the music was a reference to making sauce in that it mixes various flavors of different kinds.
tito puente is alleged to have said "no toco salsa, toco musica cubana. no soy chef, soy musico!" not sure if that's true or not.
but yeah, sauces had been around long before salsa music was developed.
