@@grogyz121 so.... do you mean to say Malay Singaporeans can't have their food represented? Singapore does come from Malaysia. Can't ignore our history and heritage. Malays are the indigenous people of Singapore. Malay food IS part of Singapore culture.
As a Singaporean, it’s really nice to see other people of other countries try out food. Also I’m not biased but chicken rice is my favourite food and having it featured is no doubt the best thing I’ve ever seen
A Singaporean's input: The taste of chili crab might differ from place to place since every stall uses a different blend of spices. They should be served with fried buns (that's what we usually eat it with) where you eat while dipping into the sauce. No need for utensils, we usually use our fingers. The laksa in the clip doesn't feel authentic. The traditional noodles we use are thick vermicelli noodles (and sometimes yellow noodles), and the soup isn't supposed to look that pale. When he brought up tofu and chicken I got confused, since the main ingredients we use here are usually beansprout, prawn, fishcake, cockles, laksa leaves and sometimes eggs. The fish head curry looks really thick and heavy in this one. Its usually more watery(?) and comes with a lot of veges. Bak chor mee looks alright here, I can't tell exactly what noodles they used but we usually have different choices here. Hainanese chicken rice is definitely a staple here. The sauce is a chili-ginger sauce (the heat depends on the stall), and dark soy sauce is also usually available. Can't tell what is in the chendol but here we usually get a heaping hill of ice and a bunch of ingredients mixed in.
The pronunciations were way off but the food looks pretty close to what you can find in Singapore, if a little fancy! Loving that the history of the diverse street food in Singapore was represented well too! :)

As a Singaporean, I can confidently say that nobody eats chilli crab with chopsticks, gyoza and fried fishballs are not served with bakchor mee, and keropok is not served as an accompaniment to laksa. Where's the all important laksa sambal?
I can tell that most of these are not authentic Singapore street food just by looking at the wrong ingredients used here. But glad they liked them. Hahaha

For less educated Malaysians. Laksa is a Peranakans(Baba Nonya) dish that is genealogical descent from Southern chinese settlers in maritimes Southeast Asian not malaysia but across the southeast asia have Peranakans settlers ,so dont claim food that wasnt urs to begin, just because its common food over there,2nd Hainanese Chicken rice ,I don't have to say where it came from.3rd Chili Crab originated from Singapore since 1960s and 4th please dont claim Roti John is originated from malaysia also.We can discuss on tht also.
Roti John's history is kinda interesting as it originated from Sembawang eateries surrounding the naval base when the Brits were around. Kinda hilarious how it got its name.
It’s Singaporean yes & definitely yummy but more Chinese centric. Should try the Indian Muslim & Malay cuisine as well. Nasi Briyani, Maggie Goreng, Roti Prata, Rojak, Mee Rebus, Mee Siam etc. Why didn’t y’all have the chilli crab with the fried mantou? It’s heavenly.
Singapore is a multicultural country; so there are a bunch of food that originates from neighboring countries like Indonesia, Malaysia and so on. Even though most of the food here is technically does not originate from Singapore in a historical stand point, it is iconic and a staple to the point we tweak and adjust them to make them ours.
So happy to see as a singaporean to see all of them enjoy the food so throughly. Thank you for loving Singapore food so much and i hope all of you get to come to the sunny island i am at to enjoy even more local delicious delicacies:) ❤
True story, we have so much variety in Singapore that most of us don’t know what to eat for most of our meal and just default to Bak Chor mee or chicken rice.
There's gotta be a sequel where these lovely folks are really in Singapore eating the real food...or go NYC Urban Hawkers! Enjoy..n thank you for trying Sg food
Ngl as a Singaporean, I can definitely testify that if whatever they are consuming is delicious, what if they actually ate the real deal? The food that they were served is such a far cry from the real deal, it is a laughing stock. Ok maybe not the chilli crab, but yeah the others
It’s like Malaysia’s seasons (Not an insult to Malaysians, I love you guys.): Hot, Hot as hell, Rain, Rain to flood (Well, only enough to wet the knee-part of your pants and it becomes so soggy and wer you can’t walk anywhere because it’s like you are in ocean trying to walk further in.)
Confusion about street food, in the early 70's all street hawkers were housed in hawker centres to manage everything better and keep the country clean.

Yes it's not as authentic as it could be, but it's probably the best they could get at the time. If they love it now they will strive to travel over and try the authentic versions themselves.
Exactly people complaining for noo reason about the serving or Where's it from. Lol at least they like the food which is the most important thing
If u are gonna serve it make sure it's authentic. Btw who eat curry laksa with keropok huh? That in its self is already a faux pax
It's fun seeing people enjoying food. I used to have a American colleague who did not dare try a thing on the table. Good job guys!
As a Singaporean. Thanks for letting them try the food that we eat on a daily basis.
But a lot of the representation of the food given was kinda off.
For instance, Bak Chor Mee and Laksa was way off.
I'm sure that with the proper ingredients and receipt the food would be so much better.
Other than that, great job with the video!
now im craving for singaporeaNNN FOOOD
I'm from singapore and one time i came back from eastern europe after months and i had most of these food in one sitting. Sometimes, I really can't imagine living elsewhere away from.south east asia because of the food we get
As a Singaporean, i really love how the Americans go nuts on our food. just so happy. its like your guest loving your mamma's home cook meal.
Yep Malaysian, Singaporean & Indonesian basically eat the same food. But Singapore & Malaysia have more similarity, in terms of the foods.
*STARTS FRANTICALLY COMPLAINING IN THE COMMENTS*
No malaysia and indonesia have different food. Ur tiny dot island is just related to chinese same like china 😂. So dont tryna claim malay and indo food 😂. So sad little dot with no identity
Great to see this video of you introducing Singaporean food to Americans. I understand you had to make do with some substitutes for some of the ingredients and it does look pretty good! I enjoyed this video tremendously. It was a joy watching you guys enjoy food we grew up eating. Pls do more of these videos with other Singaporean food like Popiah, rojak, char kway teow and other food if possible. Thank you
As a Singaporean I am so proud of our food
Me too
Me three
Same!!🇸🇬
Yeah
As a Singaporean, I can confidently say that nobody eats chilli crab with chopsticks, gyoza and fried fishballs are not served with bakchor mee, and keropok is not served as an accompaniment to laksa. Where's the all important laksa sambal?
I agree, which MANIC eats laksa without sambal????
honestly as a singaporean it makes me so proud that they enjoy the food we are having daily 😮💨
I can tell that most of these are not authentic Singapore street food just by looking at the wrong ingredients used here. But glad they liked them. Hahaha
There's always that comment 🙄
Greetings from Singapore! Glad that you guys enjoy Singapore foods!
As a Singaporean I am happy that our food is getting recognized and more people like it❤❤
Lmao noticed that whenever there are any videos regarding Singapore, there will always be salty Malaysian commenters claiming they have better stuff. Maybe... first consider the kind of impression your comments will bring to your country's image to people around the world, before actually voicing out your opinion yo. Certainly not a good color on you guys.
This.
Spot on. Bring bad impression to their own country only.
Sendol???? Chendol is called Sendol???
I'm a Singaporean. I'm so proud and happy that you really enjoyed our street foods.
the chendol is melted😭
I’m mad they didn’t give them mantou with the chilli crab
I like this group of reactors; they're all so enthusiastic and open-minded about the foods they're trying
Well discuss about Roti john then i wanna read it
Well cook some Roti John then i wanna eat it

MAJULAH SINGAPURA 🗣🗣‼‼
YEEAAAAAAA SINGAPORE
Y'all definitely need to visit Singapore for a true food experience
It’s Singaporean yes & definitely yummy but more Chinese centric. Should try the Indian Muslim & Malay cuisine as well. Nasi Briyani, Maggie Goreng, Roti Prata, Rojak, Mee Rebus, Mee Siam etc. Why didn’t y’all have the chilli crab with the fried mantou? It’s heavenly.
Because it is hard to find them is the states.
Hahahaha little island with no identity
Singapore is a multicultural country; so there are a bunch of food that originates from neighboring countries like Indonesia, Malaysia and so on. Even though most of the food here is technically does not originate from Singapore in a historical stand point, it is iconic and a staple to the point we tweak and adjust them to make them ours.
Our Laksa is uniquely ours though! Our version is different even from M'sia. I love our version of it! Totally craving Laksa now!!
@@jen5138 T R U E ! Laksa may be originally from M'sia, but we made it ours indeed!
Malaysian's laksa is either penang style or more like curry noodles. Not the one that has any of our uniquely SG flavour 😊
So happy to see as a singaporean to see all of them enjoy the food so throughly. Thank you for loving Singapore food so much and i hope all of you get to come to the sunny island i am at to enjoy even more local delicious delicacies:) ❤
Singapore is a foodie's paradise. I try to eat myself into a coma when I'm there!
Overrated. they're all Malaysian food and of course we did it way better
@@faristont4561 No need for your salty comment, both countries have delicious food, it's not a competition!🙄
Wish they actually got SG food from SG rather than recreations. Still a cool video. Thanks for shining a light on our nation XD
Kenneth and Jair give "best friend that everyone thinks are a couple" vibes lol
I love it!
Some of the dishes don't look like how they're supposed to be.
True story, we have so much variety in Singapore that most of us don’t know what to eat for most of our meal and just default to Bak Chor mee or chicken rice.
i like nasi lemak and satay
I went to Singapore for the first time this past January. The food was so good. I miss Laksa the most
As a Singaporean i came to the comments to hate on the bad replications of the food but stayed for the rest of my community to roast this vid
They left out the greats...
Wantan Mee, Char Kway Teow, Fried carrot cake, duck rice, Bar Kut teh, Mee Goreng, Nasi Lemak, Curry Cut rice......
"favourite on warm summer nights"
Duuude.. Every night is a warm summer night in Singapore 😂😂
Yah
Exactly, we only have 2 seasons in Singapore: Hot or Hotter
It’s like Malaysia’s seasons (Not an insult to Malaysians, I love you guys.): Hot, Hot as hell, Rain, Rain to flood (Well, only enough to wet the knee-part of your pants and it becomes so soggy and wer you can’t walk anywhere because it’s like you are in ocean trying to walk further in.)
They re all kind people. Open hearted appreciation of other cultures.
Confusion about street food, in the early 70's all street hawkers were housed in hawker centres to manage everything better and keep the country clean.
@@jenniferabrew4901until early 90 , some stalls still next to open air car park.
Wait I’m surprised too that bak chor mee was voted the world number one street food, and I’m Singaporean lmao!
The cendol shaved ice melted already 😭
Depressing siahh😢
Exactly, its too melted
Why is Brian HILARIOUS?! The way he said congress has me rolling!
I’m rewatching every single video ❤. If Brian only knew that the terrifying and haunting punishments would come from the person sitting right next to him 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 ❤ Chef Ash ❤
wait til y’all try the actual dishes in singapore..
Dude as a Singaporean, I am so happy they enjoy our food! COME TO SINGAPOREEE❤
Sendol…. That made me cry….
exactly lol
Was like what did she call cendol again?
The way she pronounces chendol was about to sendol of us to the afterlife
U guys notice the food they eating looks so different from the authentic ones in the video clip....
8:50 the fact that nicole said chendol so differently than what i would say it is honestly so funny but still so fascinating at the same time hhaha
Right? ... I went back to see if she said what I thought she said... Ch ch chendol like ch ch ch chia pet
Yeeaaah! Singapore represent!
10/10 for choosing steamed over roasted chicken rice. Lets goooooooooooo
Clicked into this video to realise I watched it awhile back, as a fellow sgporean, glad to see all the cast liking the food, cant wait for a part 2! There are many more food that should be tried! Like kaya toast, carrot cake, popiah, bak kut teh and nasi lemak!
Lets be fair here. If they do a part 2 of singaporean food, it would be pretty insulting to do Nasi Lemak and pass it off as Singaporean when its the national dish of Malaysia.
@@starskreem8258, not the Chinese version of it, la!😂
Singaopreans probably do not know how lucky they are until they watch this video .... these are basically the normal stuffs eaten for most meals daily ...
You're probably right. As a Singaporean, I'm so bored of chicken rice and bak chor mee...
She really said SEN-DOL!!!
As an Indonesian, I found it interesting to learn that Malaysia and Singapore also have Chendol as a dessert.
Ikr, gulai kepala ikan juga ada
The three of us share a lot of similar tasting dishes because we're neighbours, that's why sometimes can see people bickering about it, which is pointless.
@@waterlily43 agree
She did not just say sendol instead of chendol
Sorry but, thts one sad looking laksa. Laksa is such more vibrant and not dull like tht. Neways thnkyou for trying our south east asian dishes. Seems like you enjoy them, glad tht you did.
As a Singaporean 🇸🇬 *That should be the kind of reaction to try out foods!!!* ❤
As a Singaporean some of those food defo looks abit different from the ones served here LOL hopefully they taste just as good
