The paddle shifters are done that way on purpose: to know which one is which when making turns and shifting at the same time. Also the exhaust button doesn’t do anything for the exhaust note externally. It’s intentionally meant to turn on or off the exhaust note coming from the speakers.
I’ve driven a lot of cars at work and a lot of cars with paddle shifters have bumps on the up shift paddle and nothing or indents on the downshift paddle. Honda/Acura does it with all their paddle shifted cars and I’ve found a lot of bmw’s do it too. Audi uses lines on the back of theirs, the up shift paddle has lines and the down shift paddle is smooth.

the more I drive mine the more I think the button is for piped in sound. The exhaust valve open when you change the engine setting from comfort. That's probs why it works when you push the M2 button, cuz that setting your engine is in Sport+

Because I figure since he is in New Jersey the Xdrive provides better traction, and it’s faster. He lives in New Jersey, so it makes sense I’m from New York and those 2 things alone is why I would get the xdrive lol
I belive the auto is faster. Most track cars I see nowadays are using auto transmission. I have the manual G80 btw, but wishing I had waited for the xdrive instead.
Some of the same complaints with mine. You guys are located in NJ right? I'm in South Jersey, I have a 22 m3 Comp Xdrive, similar spec, except Sao Paulo yellow, matching interior, everything else is the same though but managed to get lucky and get the laser lights. I'm doing mid-pipe and downpipe next week, the VSC-2 controller really helps with the exhaust. Even with the "open" in M mode, it never is truly all the way open until you hit certain speeds/rpms. You notice a decent difference with the controller but definitely need at bare minimal a midpipe.
Reason for the small brake on the rear has nothing to do with the parking brake. The small single piston caliper is much lighter and also cheaper, while being completely sufficient in terms of stopping power. Downside of that is, of course, that the looks are cheap aswell.
I read somewhere along the way that it was a fitment compromise between the rear wheel concavity and the rear track width. Undoubtedly a cost-cutting measure too but it probably isn't necessary to have a fixed rear caliper with those 6-pots up front. Still...
My poor 440i from 2016 has two-piston calipers in the rear and the M3/M4 have single, painted ones?? WTF?? Painted one-piston calipers are the trademark of every boy-racer for the last two decades! That's really cheap of BMW to put them in such a car, even if they were not necessary as somebody else mentioned... And how much more would the two or four-piston ones cost, two-three hundred $ more?? Just add that in the final price, no one is gonna complain! Hopefully they won't use drum brakes on the next generation...
The rear brakes look like the ones you find on a much less expensive car and some hand painted them. The F30 m sport are sooo much better. The interior is 🔥

The different bumps on the back of the paddle shifters if so that you don't hit the wrong one while you have the wheels turned and while the paddles are in a different location due to the wheel being turned.
Beautiful M3!! That’s a bummer about the lack of Laser lights; my ‘22 330e has them and they’re awesome, but my car doesn’t have passenger lumbar support, Digital key, nor passenger seat width adjustment - all due to parts shortages. I didn’t order my car; I purchased it from dealer stock.
Man i love the M3 so much and it’s been my favorite car since I started getting into cars and just the bmw 3 series overall so hope this time next year maybe it won’t be an M3 but I hope to get myself into a 3 series! ✌️

I got a 2017 BMW 330e that im super happy with right now, but im pretty certain the BMW i4 is gonna be my next car after im done with college. I love everything about the new i4 except the grille that the M3, M4, 4-series and i4 shares... I really hope the aftermarket M8 style fronts for the M3, M4, 4 series and i4 comes out within a couple of years so i dont have to have the beaver teeth front... I just find it so hilariously bad looking. I have no doubts that this M3 is a great car, its just not a very good _looking_ car from the front...

That's because this motor has 9.3:1 compression and the S55 had 10.3:1. Its a very old school compression, but that means this is a boost whore and will like big singles.
It look terrible. Not a fan never will. (my opinion which count nothing for all you owners out there of course.) if you enjoy the car that's all it matters.
Did 15 laps at Laguna Seca in the 2021 M3. Best time I could manage was 1:46 on Cup2s. BMW dropped the ball on this model. The steering feel was bazar. Oversteer to understeer car couldn't make up its mind when pushed hard. The brakes I had no confidence in. ABS works well but man they sure dont like hot laps. Engine had good pull and torque but any car can go fast in a straight line. All in all id never recommend the car. Id prefer a F80 with Kws. Next.....

The only things I hate about the G80 is the grills and lack of dct.. Btw, seeing you now have the real thing with the nice seats then why don’t you remove the seats from the F80 and sell them to me your loyal subscriber😹
BMW claims they made the grille`s this bad because they had to push the radiators further forwards in the car, but everyone with more than half a functioning brain knows that is not true and that BMW are just trying to come up with excuses because they failed with their new design.. Congrats on your new car Bryan. You've confirmed its a mechanically fantastic machine. But the looks. What the hell was BMW thinking? 1) No BMW has horizontal slats. Every BMW ever made, vertical, vertical, vertical slats. 2) No modern BMW in the last 20+ years has slats that extend under the bumper. I'm sure BMW will eventually come to their senses and make a replacement nose, or someone else will. Fingers crossed. Love the green by the way. Many happy miles.

The exhaust valve button works for me when I'm not in M Mode. Maybe you need Sport/Sport Plus for engine?

For the money it should be better. This generation does not as good build quality as previous. Cost control does it again.

3. quiet exhaust even on Sports+
4. nothing else really

My hate or like is having a carbon roof. Your car drives faster or prevents you from seeing beautiful day/night sky scenes through the roof.
The engineers blew their budget on the amazing comp pkg. seats so could only afford the rear calipers from the 228i :-) I"m keeping my F80!

Yes, the looks are the main downside of this bmw. Aftermarket guys will have come up with something to replace the grille by now, i'm not worried.
