Long-term Tesla will be about Optimus. Short-term ficus is on FSD.
But I don't see why they wouldn't do the new generation car too. I will assume that they develope that platform by doing the RoboTaxi, avoiding showing the car until it's ready to produce at scale.
The change of direction might mean that those working with Optimus and AI will acend in the company, leaving upper management in the car hardware segment behind. That would prevent them from reaching the very top position in the future. Surely a disappointment which might make some quit.
Why do I think Optimus will be Tesla's big thing in the future?
It's the high-margin business, and fastly scalable!
FSD is large, but limited by the number of cars they have produced.
RoboTaxi is huge, but will grow slower than Optimus. It will take over the car production business.
These were my guesses!

ELON does what needs to be done. Layoffs happen. I own 7750 shares at $219 basis. TESLA to $1,000/share in 5 years. STOP CRYIN' & START BUYIN'. Dont take a job if you have 1 month of RENT in your bank account. Rent a room, stop having kids you cant afford, rent a room. Whatever. I have been fired before at a large CPA Firm with NO NOTICE and I didn't turn into a crybaby.

Also, someone again used the "let's fix Earth first" response. For the love of all that's good and holy, I'm so tired of that one. I'm sure some ancient humans in eastern Siberia were saying "let's fix [whatever they called Siberia 10,000 yrs ago] first" to those about to cross the Bering Strait. And there were probably people in Europe saying "let's fix here first" as settlers started planning to leave for the New World.
There is no niche for tesla in energy and auto. There is absolutely no way to compete with chinese globally. The only slight advantage it has is FSD - for now. It can evaporate any minute given immense daily advances in AI. Makes sense to go all in as early as possible. Optimus is unfortunately way behind other competitors.

I hope the the exec's didn't leave because Elon is going all out on Robo taxi against what might have been their advice. I just don't see Robo taxi being anywhere near. I cringe when people take Robo taxi as being imminent because common sense says .....it isn't.

Im certain they have had their previous differences and they see how well Elon had lead and guided Tesla, doubtful that a difference in opinion was the reason. Now, if elon wanted to produce weapons for the military to use in war, im sure they would leave then.

Regulation by government agencies is called out as the biggest roadblock to growth and innovation. But that's not all regulation, it's unthinking useless regulation that drags us down. There are good controls that keep companies from totally ripping us off and there are bad ones like NHTSA requiring Teslas to stop for a full second at stop signs. We'd be driving on crummy freeways in rust bucket cars if somebody didn't "regulate" them. Sweep away the crummy regs, streamline the ones we need and apply common sense to the whole thing.
Freeways are run by government so regulation is irrelevant

The company is competing in the ai space. Elon has already said ai companies are poaching talent. Elon needed to free up some capital to attract and retain ai talent. Elon has probably told the c suite that it’s back to 100

Stock action is dismal today. Tesla seems to be in a dark phase and so many negatives for it. The future is hard to stay optimistic about since Tesla is not doing so well.

India and China need to clean up the air more than anyone does. They need to start there first then worry about the ships crossing the ocean or anything else. Their air pollution is ridicules but no one does anything about it but complain about the USA needing to cut down on emissions.
China is doing more in EVs and solar than anyone. India is doing more solar than the US.

Does it make it right still they are polluting horribly bad just because the rich countries did it over 130 years ago? Times are way different then than now and what we know. The USA takes the brunt of regulations and the other countries are mainly to cause for air pollution and horrible water pollution. All that dirty air circles the globe, it doesnt stay in Indian and China.

Mostly I agree with you but then there are people like Elizebeth Warren who needed the name "Pocahontus" because the legacy media protects her. Every time he used that nickname it drove home not only how dishonest she was but also the dishonest media for not calling her out. It was brilliant!
