Prodigy Gamer what made them work is that both Steph and Klay are just as effective off ball then they are with the ball.
Prodigy Gamer the big difference is that one the Warriors have an amazing coach, while the suns don’t really have a great coach. Also, Steph and Klay almost never need the ball to be successful. Like remember when Klay scored 60 points in a game on like 11 dribbles? Booker and Luka are nowhere near as good off ball as Steph and Klay. And Tatum isn’t as good of a passer as KD is. Also, the suns probably would have been a better team that year if they had Tatum instead of Jackson.
Jackson Rosenthal I mean, KD, harden, Westbrook still aren’t amazing off ball players and look what they did in okc. It’s gonna be tough for booker and Tatum to average 20 but they’d still be good.

LaRue Mathis it’s not guaranteed they would have had the number one pick if they had Tatum. That’s why what if’s are so hard to do because everything they do would change so much if that had happened. I mean what if Josh Jackson became a good player in Boston, and Phoenix was just a bad fit for him? It’s impossible to say everything would have been the same for Phoenix if they had selected Tatum and Boston had selected Jackson. But I understand what your doing, it’s just something people think is too simple. People think you just plug said player into the starting lineup, when a lot of things they would have done would have been different.

Imagine Philly picking Tatum and Ingram before that instead of Simmons. Those two and Embiid would've become an unstoppable trio by now. Jimmy would've probably stayed as well. Then there is the picture of Tatum playing alongside Booker and Luka in Phoenix. It's crazy to think how many opportunities franchises lose without knowing.

As a Suns fan i was super happy when we drafted JJ (oh boy) but i was also a fan of Tatum. Scary thing is that what if Suns drafted Tatum then they may had a better record with him but not that much and instead of getting the first pick they could have drafted Doncic or Young with a later pick. Imagine a trio of Doncic-Booker-Tatum. They were also thinking about signing Capela that off-season if they had drafted Doncic. So Phoenix could have run with this line-up Doncic-Booker-Bridges-Tatum-Capela. DAMN.
The best part about the Celtics is their coaching staff. Brad Steven makes so many players better and guys who shouldn't even be in the league contribute. I say that's the biggest luxury in the NBA right now, that's how you get good trades, reserve your assets and attract free agents.
Wish he kept to his first thought. Would have loved to see him in Pheonix.

As a boston fan you just can't hate on Danny Ainge. He made every right move under so much uncertainty. We were supposed to be a 10 year rebuilding team after 2010 like philly, pheonix, lakers, ny, miami, orlando, dallas etc. Consistently a good playoff team, with championship potential. After 2016 it just became a ritual to trust this man. Grateful !!!
I always thought that Tatum was more NBA ready than Markelle and Lonzo so it doesnt at all surprise me that he's better than both of them, but the difference in skill at this point is kinda surprising.
He's developed into a really reliable player on a good team, while people are still waiting for Lonzo and Markelle to really prove themselves

@@lachlanbackhouse7436 i just think either way we wouldn't have drafted a point guard (fultz or ball) bc we had Isaiah Thomas who was an MVP candidate that year and the centrepiece of the Kyrie trade; so we would've drafted josh Jackson probably. drafting Jackson wouldn't have kept Ainge from wanting to trade Thomas for Irving. I wish we never did trade for kyrie, but there is just no scenario where this draft affects that outcome in any way is my point.

This was such a weird draft. Fultz at #1, Tatum as the third pick because of fultz and lonzo, Jackson over guys like fox and Lauri markkanen. You had Donovan Mitchell, bam, and John Collins at 13, 14, 19 and Jarret Allen and og at 22 and 23. Such a weird year and really shows you what teams are actually good at drafting and what teams just follow the hype.
I wanted to be drafted by the St. Louis Hawks, but we can’t have everything JT.
