This is the 2018 Mitsubishi Montero Sport GLS 4x2 AT. It's the base automatic variant of the Montero and it sells for 1,489,000 pesos. It's almost two hundred thousand pesos cheaper than the Fortuner G A/T. Is the price difference warranted?

December sale price was even lower. For Cash you can get it for php 1.4M flat already.
Clearly if you value function over form more. Montero is clear winner with more bells and whistles in terms of tech installed. For me the value for money proposition is unmatched.
Looks is a different topic. And it depends on buyer priority. I dont mind looks as long as its not too ugly for my taste.
right! looks should not be part of the scoring, because looks are VERY SUBJECTIVE. In fact I actually like the taillights of the montero. Judge me for this but for me the montero is kinda better looking, i don't know maybe because fortuners are everywhere and whenever I see a montero I feel a breath of fresh air.
My 8 year old daughter finds the interior of the Montero much smaller than our 3rd gen CRV. I agree with her but the power, features, ride... Makes me want one.
The actual base model of the Montero Sport is the GLX which was just released back in 2017.

Bro, Xterra from Nissan that you mentioned isn't the competitor of Montero and Fortuner in the Asian Market, it's the TERRA which was recently introduced to compete with Mu-X, Montero, Trailblazer & Fortuner. FYI, the Xterra is a Nissan compact SUV for the US market and is discontinued for 2016.

Fortuner has brutal suspension, I prefer montero for reliability, parts availability and suspension comfort. We acquire vehicle for our convenience, there is no such vehicle that will last.

Nang magtanong ako sa Fortuner less 20,000 yata at babayaran mo pa yun insurance, tapos kulang ang features, walang back camera at navigation, pangit yun upholstery, rear drum pa at mas maliit ang mags kaya pinili ko na Montero

Officially yes it's better than the Fortuner
Srp is 1.719M but dealers offer up to 260K discount so it cost just under 1.5M
if you buy it inhouse or bank..cash wala 40k lang ata discount standard..

Pero ang toyota cars kahit saan makikita mo talaga marami. Recently toyota trucks goes for about 999,999 sa milage and still running sa road. Iba ang quality ng toyota. Naka toyota tacoma ako 2012 after paying off nun 2017 at milage ng 98k still manage na benta for $22,000.

Illusion na lang ung mas durable ang ganto, mas durable ang ganyn. Durable lahat ang toyota, mitsubishi, at isuzu pero kung balahura nmn ang paggamit, alam na.
That is the reason why “reviewer”/journalists differ from mechanics. The latter actually works on cars and know the frequent issues.

Acceleration, suspension specially in very rough terrain I will choose Montero.
Reliability, durability, fuel consumption, maintenance- fortuner.
Note: I have seen Toyota car with 1.3M km mileage still running good.

I used to be a montero fan before this all new generation. The dynamic shield is not appealing especially it's concept integration with mitsubishi's other line-up of cars.
I prefer the 2015 body style.

Wrong price. The GLS standard is around 1.7m. The GLS Premium is around 1.8m. The one that sells for jist over 1.4m is the GLX 4x2 MT, which is the base variant of the Montero.
You can check the sticker on the windshield. It says 1.489 and It's an automatic gls. Prices are from mitsubishi quezon avenue. The manual variant is at 1.3+
@@jaywalkur can't barely read the sticker on the windshield. It might say price starts at 1.489m, but it doesn't mean that the one you are reviewing is 1.489m. Here's the price on Mitsubishi's website which is updated as of December 1, 2018: www.mmpc.ph/price-list.
The one that you're reviewing is the GLS standard, which is around 1.7m. My uncle just got the GLS premium and they got it from Q. Ave branch as well. We were looking for the standard but since the price difference is not that big, my uncle opted for the GLS premium.
@@GDTrey-ic4zu aside from the sticker on the gls unit on display, I also got to talk to a representative from the dealership. They may have updated their prices since you bought your montero
@@jaywalkur okay, nothing against your review, in fact they're great. Just got surprised that you mentioned that the GLS standard is 1.489. It was never priced that way since this generation came out. The GLS standard has always been at 1.6-1.7m range. Keep up the great review tho.
FYI guys may discount po ang montero units. you just have to find a good dealership. I got mine at 1.434 on August 2018 thru bank p.o. as of now meron pa silang discount hanggang 280k
Radical & wiell-designed. The tailight is contemporary/modern-looking. Mitsubishi is always a trend-setter, and it never fails.
i'm curious to see if that tailight design will be the trend in next gen suvs....most probably not.

cause you need to press the brake then push the or lift the handbrakre button..then you will hear a click sound means that the handbrake is off...its not a malfunction ..

overall your is not bad with your comparison and the discount posted im more inclined in buying the premium.
Check on the actual torque of the fortuner on actual driving and not on the sheet, it has more jerk than the monti . Tried it myself when i got my fotuner!

You dont need hips of horses in the Philippines, all you need is reliability in a long run wherever you are. Cannot say slow base on horses. Fotuner has drums cos its design is based on hilux, do own montero its pajero sports in australia. Consider also the performance. By the wAy i own Subaru Forester 2018 small in size coz dont need big ride. Maybe expensive in terms of price but worthy of what you’ve payed for
