Helpful review. I also have a 6-inch wrist and this watch does look a bit bigger than I expected while the case diameter is the same as my sarb035. I totally agree with your point that the matte and darker green dial in addition to the removal of the compass really makes this watch cleaner, more versatile and just overall, better aesthetically. Quite a shame that it wears large.
Good to see you enjoying this model as much as I do. It was my third mechanical watch, and remains my favourite. I had to send it back to Seiko due to extremely erratic accuracy, but the replacement movement seems to have settled down to minus 10 seconds daily, which is very workable for me. The legibility at a glace is perfect, and I didn't require the compass bezel, so true Alpinist or not its just a great looking watch.
Loving that dial. Wondering if you have considered getting your hands on the seiko presage SPRF41, that has a similar yet different green dial? Would love to hear your thoughts on that piece.
I haven't had a chance to try that but i tried a very similar SRPE45J1. The case has a simple high polished finish and i think it makes the watch look dressier on the overall. The dial is great though.
Hey GF. Have been researching with Infinity Wars (another frequent visitor of your channel) about the Oyster bracelet of the sarb033 and 035 vs this SPB155. I dont think they are the same. The Middle links of the Sarb033/35 bracelet is a little more square, whereas the ones on the SPB155 are a little more rectangular. Must prefer the oyster on the SPB155 (the one you got there). Am tempted to order the OEM bracelet from Fah Shing to put on my SPB157J1 (blue) though
Nice video but this has been referred to as the seiko alpinist by seiko. Something many make the mistake of thinking is that seiko don’t refer to it as an alpinist. It’s on their website too. Enjoyable video nonetheless.
Was bout to comment the same thing. I've seen pictures of their 2020 catalogues with The Seiko Alpinist as the title. The resemblance also not only comes from the sarb017 green and gilt, but mainly from the 60s original Alpinist design. This model seems to be more inclined as a heritage piece which i wish they marketed as.
I have both watches and much prefer this by far. The dial is much more legible and so striking. I can also understand why some SARB017 owners would not consider this watch because of the price. I actually prefer the non applied indices. But once you see it in person and get a good deal, can't pass it up.
Mine is running -1 second a day!!! That’s fantastic! Almost as good as my Tudor Black Bay 58
Great review. I just ordered this watch tonight so am now watching videos until I can see it in person.

Nice video, nice watch. I have 5.5" small wrist and may I know how many links can it be removed? Thanks
For my 6 inch wrist, there is still one more removable link. I think you can still wear it with a 5.5 inch wrist.
@@GFWatch thank you for your info. Subbed.
Looks great on your wrist!
Is the blue more beautiful as a dial or not?which one looks more stunning?
Both look great. Get the one you like.

Glad you have yours fixed.
i wear this very watch on a 20cm wrist..and i still had to take a link out...also its just normal push pins, so easy to do
Really torn between this dial version or that blue. Both are stunning
Yup, the blue is stunning too. I went for this green as it reminds me of the popular green SARB017 Alpinist.

Does the bracelet use pins and collars like some Seikos or just a friction pin?
If I recall correctly, the links are just held by pins.
@@GFWatch thank you
How often will this watch need servicing ? Is it tougher than Seiko 5 ?
Thanks
¿Este reloj no lo comercializan con correa de piel?
Desafortunadamente no, pero es divertido combinar diferentes correas, le da un aspecto diferente dependiendo del color y material.
Will the bracelet fit on the regular Alpinists? I know it is same 20mm lug width but do they have case lug holes on the same place/alignment?
Good question but I not sure as I don't have the SARB017. I'm curious to know too.
No half size links is crazy. I would hope one is included in the box. Likely not though.
I prefer accuracy over power reserve.

Yup, I mentioned that they are not the same. Well, you can order the bracelet but I heard that it's not cheap.
GF Watch yup not cheap
great quality review on a watch that I own and that i love!
How do you like the thickness of it? Does it wear pretty large?
I'm okay with the thickness. Most watches look large on my small wrist 😅
I'm wondering since it has been 6 months are you still keeping the watch or sold it already?
I still have it. Won't be selling it anytime soon.

Thanks but I can only see Seiko referring to this SPB155J1 as a model under their Prospex line up on the global website.

Josef Tolentino exactly... nice to see others have the info too 👀
7:22 😊
I just got myself the green and I have to say, its way more stunning in real life haha cheers!
The Seiko "Alpine Explorer"
Nice review man, thanks!
Not baby Alpinist, better Alpinist!
Field Alpinist
👍 Looks way better.
Prefer the sarb017 by far and completely disagree on almost every point you make vs the sarb alpinist. But hey different strokes
It's okay. Everyone has different tastes. Just sharing my opinion here.
