It's pretty clear that the deck is superior, but it's also important to remember that this game was ported to the SWITCH, of all things. That it's even remotely playable on that thing says a lot about the id tech 6 engine's scalability.
@@cmdrfokkerRE Engine is another great game engine that performs well on the Steam Deck. I wish I could say the same thing about Naughty Dog's The Last of Us Part 1 which runs like dog shit on the Steam Deck.
i was also impressed with wolfenstein th old blood, the newer wolfenstein titles look nice but they have some weird frame issue (dropps to 30 sometimes, weird stuff going on)
This game is amazing on deck. Spent a few hours testing it today. I'm the same, I always prefer to play fps with mouse and keyboard but the overall handheld experience is just awesome, especially with the subtle haptics. Makes the guns feel meaty. I also don't mind the gyro.
Great to see Doom run so well on the Deck. * interesting, you say you're terrible with a controller... I literally can't play FPS games with Mouse & keyboard
gosh i love the steamdeck... :D beeing able to run full pc games, even heavy hitters, is beyond me... its a gaming pc in the palm of your hands :D i always thought "oh man, why are smartphones so limited with their software (modern smartphones could run alot of games easy with there performance)" but this, this is alot better bc.: 1 device instead of controller and smartphone holder larger screen greater battery time it was build for this purpose the cpu performance is the same as an intel 6700hq quad core (i7 laptop processor)... the desktop performance is incredibly snappy, webbrowsing: websites load in an instant, video buffers very fast, no waiting time nothing this performance with this wattage is so crazy its such an incredible handheld... it feels like it shouldnt be able to do that but it does :D
What’s the performance difference between OpenGL and Vulkan though? AMD fixed their OpenGL support last year and I’m curious if it’s finally good in Doom
I can't figure out how to upgrade weapons on the deck. Non of the buttons on the controller are allowing me to accept the weapon mods. So far the deck is very frustrating. I don't know why it doesn't just play like a PC with an Xbox controller plugged in.
I will suggest you to change the cpu max clock speed using powertool because it draw to much power and the temperature are very high..i get around 63-65 Celsius with cpu max 2000mhz stable 60fps with your settings
Normies who still dont know that you can have overall better control with analogue stick for movement, buttons for other actions and gyro and trackpad for aiming than keyboard and mouse. 🤭

The old id tech 6 its mind blowing even today and the fact that the steam deck plays this at lock 60 fps is insane.

Love this title. I prefer it to Doom Eternal. Ultra gritty and just feels like doom. Eternal is great as well but 2016 has something special to it.
I also agree that 2016 doom was just plain fun and no extra stuff eternal is great as well but it feels overwhelming sometimes

You're bloody and hella good at this game
Doom Eternal and Doom 2016 both optimized so well on any platform 👍
Im waiting for whole yakuza series test on steamdeck.
Rip and TEAR!!!!
DOOM franchise plz next ❤
Great vid!! I’m curious, which control config did you use? Something from the Steam community?
Thanks! I was using mouse and keyboard, the normal gamepad controls work completely fine :)
@@SantiagoSantiago thanks for the reply!
At 1:15, were you trying to scratch your ear, or do the headphones control the sound like that?😮
I was lowering the volume, the headphones have gestures to swap songs or lower volume like that

Vulkan ran better here, no reason to test opengl in this case
@@SantiagoSantiago Ah ok, thanks for letting me know
Doom franchise?
Doom eternal atm ;)

No plans for Rog Ally

I know this is an older comment but make sure you are on vulkin and not the opengl graphics api
corre como el pico en la oled. en vulkan se capea a 45hz
