What’s even scarier to me is that companies like Nintendo have actually pulled games from their stores while their still up. When certain Wii U ports came to Switch (mainly Pikmin 3 and DKCTF from what I can remember) they almost immediately removed the ability to buy them digitally from the eShop. I believe after some backlash they put certain games back up, but the fact that even Nintendo are willing to do this to a certain extent is VERY concerning to me
GOG is the Digital Equivalent of a Physical copy as they give you offline installers, so as long as you have a working installer, you can reinstall without losing the game. (they're also DRM free) Physical and Offline Installers are very important to keep as we need preservation.
I’m a physical gamer through and through, where I entirely make sure to buy every new game I get in that format. The only exceptions to this are either if the game is digital-only releases, like with Sonic Mania or Origins before they got their physical rereleases, which I of course bought, or most indie games. And even in that case, I try to get the indie games I really like physically if they get picked up by someone like LRG or Fangamer. And situations like this only justify my decision further, since I for one like actually owning games instead of having them get yoinked like in this scenario, or cast away into the ether like when the 3DS/WiiU Eshops closed. Plus I get to display them on a shelf in all their glory too lol.

I only buy media digitally if I know the media isn’t going to come out physically anytime soon.
I still got a copy on my 360
