The back crown portion is such a challenge for me. This was a great visual for styling, for me. Your hair is so pretty. Your haircut is so nice. The perfect shape and so flattering for you.

Really enjoyed watching your technique! I love learning different things to try. I liked how you smoothed the clumps out “after” brush styling each section. Will have to try it!
Great! I’d love to hear if it works for you. Some styling brushes still seem to make tiny curl clumps for me, so I try to smooth them into a slightly thicker ones. Note that size of your curl clumps really depends on your curl pattern, your density, and the final look you prefer. ♥️

just found your channel and I’m very happy I did . At almost 62 , I’m finally embracing my curls . Before that I was blow drying, flat ironing , Keratin treatments etc I’m just starting to enjoy and learning new techniques and using product in my silver tinsel 🌻🌻🌻

Thank you! I appreciate the feedback so much! My hair is medium texture & medium density. For my haircut I choose layers all around. I usually go a bit shorter with my layers at first and then let them grow out to long layers before cutting again. I ask for a rounded shape to the ends at the back rather than straight across. I hope this helps too!

I'm 62 and now have a bit less hair than I used to- which in most ways I'm loving. You see after having super thick hair & getting headache s from a ponytail, it's a relief. So you see I have a sensitive head LOL. My hair is mostly blackish Brown with about 10 or 20% gray and I've never colored it. You inspire me and I love seeing your daughter with you!
What is the best product for keeping the hold for the curls
A gel! Try a light to medium hold gel for fine hair to medium thick hair strands. Try a strong hold gel for thick or coarse hair. Here’s a great kit to start with bit.ly/3HDp3Uk
What kind of brush do you use? I’ve heard that a soft brush is better for curls than a hard brush
Hi Felisha, that is a great question. There are many brushes for detangling and styling. To get started, I recommend a Wet Brush amzn.to/3GbQJhJ for detangling most curly hair types. I detangle with my hands first, then use this brush for a more gentle approach. A brush for styling is optional. In this video, I'm using a denman styling brush amzn.to/2Ztmh1s

You can definitely use an actual tshirt as your hair towel! 👍🏼 My new favorite cloth to use is a Muslim blanket, mostly because it looks prettier hanging up in my bathroom.
I always have trouble with the back. My hair is long and my hands get tired. Also, I can’t get volume near my roots, because my hair is long and thick.
Brush styling may help to give your hand a break. Roots clips will also help with root volume while drying!

Would it not work if you mix the 2 products together, then apply?
The layering works best. It’s helpful for the Hair to soak in your base layer, a leave-in or a cream. Then the gel coating over it will seal in the moisture for days.
Do you recommend parting your hair before or after showering? I currently part my hair before I shower.
Hi! This depends on what works best for your hair. With high density hair (a lot of it, like my daughter’s hair) sectioning it beforehand is helpful!

Thank you for posting. Sectioning is a great idea.i can never get my back to curl like the front.i do however air dry my curls any good air dry products
Do you get a lot of breakage with all that squishing in your next washes.
I mean I lv been scrunching for 3 years and the only reason i can see long breakages and NOT fall outs/shedding is from scrunching products in to get "the desired" look.
To which over 3 years my hair becomes choppy. Do you or any of you gals have the same effect or outcome ?
I’ve found raking in products on already detangled hair helps to create a more uniform application of products throughout the length of the strand. Followed by a gentle blotting or a holding scrunch, helps to encourage the curl formation. All with the goal of hydration supporting products & gentle application to prevent breakage. 🤍
A lot of people say one shouldn't brush hair when its damp or wet because its more fragile and prone to damage so I'm a little unsure if I should do that... What is your opinion on that?
A very important question! A brush isn’t required for all hair types or curls types, but it can be helpful for different reasons.
The ✨ magic ingredient of brushing soaking wet hair is the conditioner (when detangling) or the water and styling products (when brush styling) adding the slip needed to minimize the friction that causes breakage and protect your hair. Work on small sections of hair at a time for best results.👍🏼
If you have curly hair you only brush wet , straight hair can do whatever they like

Yes! Product notes added to the description. I was testing these products and decided not to mentioned them as the gel did not provide enough hold for my hair afterall. I have thicker hair strands, so medium to strong hold gels work best to keep my curls intact.

Hi! I used a curl cream and gel. For fine hair, light to medium hold gels work well. For thick hair, strong hold gels will provide the most definition.

Great question! You can use alligator clips to clip down the sections you already did.

Thank you for the feedback. 🌺 This demonstration showed all the techniques (raking, praying hands, brushing, diffusing, etc), but its definitely not required to do all the things. It’s fun to know what options we have, discover what technique works best for our curls, and to keep it as simple as possible.
I can't manipulate my curly hair like that either. It would be a frizzy mess if I did.
I would just be pulling clumps and clumps of hair out of i did this.
