Today in india, pizza has almost become an Indian delicacy. Almost everybody loves it. Just like cake (which is a foreign delicacy as well), today indians are preparing pizza at home. It's the most famous among people below 40. Surprisingly you find very less competition and dominoz happily enjoy a huge market share. Whereever I go, I find a dominoz shop nearby and it becomes a very easy choice.
My gradma who is 75 loves her pizza..!she always jokes that her big gain from economic liberalisation in 1990's was going from limited types of pizzas to having a wide variety of them. It is to this day her go to comfort food..!😂
I have had Domino's in 4 completely different countries and I must say *adaptability* is the biggest reason for success. US - Full of meat options, Europe - so many cheese varieties, China - sea food varieties, India - veggie options even festival specific when people are fasting. Also as highlighted, Indians eat a varieties of bread and don't mind cheese. Good video, though could have researched more.
Adding my 2 cents. Domino's is popular because of following reasons. 1. Lot of marketing and advertisement in the initial days 2. Use of local ingredients and Development of localised tastes suitable to local pallette 3. Lot of veg options keeping vegetarian people of India and including those vegetables 4. Lot of spicy, cheesy and interesting combos rather than dull & blunt & dry flavour of Pizza Hut 5. Low price compared to Pizza Hut 6. 30 Mins quick delivery promised 7. Lot of small & medium stores accessible from any nearyby location by expansion The delivery app that you mentioned is Swiggy and Zomato, that is recent phenomenon available for all restaurants including pizza hut. However at the beginning Domino's had a dedicated call center number for ordering pizza from home which made it accessible and easy for everyone. So people started to consider it as a popular tasty fast food rather than proper restaurant dining or meal
Variety dude. Plus most of the times that authentic indian food is cooked at home daily. When you're looking for pizza delivery once a in a while, dominos is a great option.
I live in India and I liked the hospitality of the Domino's (either you go to the restaurant or order online), I think that is a another reason why Domino's won this battle.
Dominos opened in my small border town of Ferozepur, Punjab in 2016-17 which is a great deal as it shows how much deep dominos is going and outcomes show it is being loved by people as a result.
The delivery infrastructure they've built in India has huge value! 🍕 A great move from here would be to platformize their delivery network and allow third party producers to deliver through Domino's. They've beat Pizza Hut and Papa John's in India, they should target delivery as a whole and consider platforms like Uber Eats their competition moving forward. 🤔
Applico why Uber eats when we have our own online food ordering platform swiggy, Zomato, food-panda and many other. FYI Uber eats was launched in late 2018 in India and sooner Zomato acquired Uber eats.
IN SPITE OF MAXIMUM MILLENNIALS IN OUR COUNTRY INDIA; TWO MAIN REASONS ANY PIZZA COMPANY WONT SELL PRODUCT IN RATIO WITH POPULATION IS : 1- WE DO PREFER HEALTHY FOOD LIKE VEGETABLES AND GROCERY ITEMS LIKE PULSES, WHEAT, RICE, ETC WHICH ARE VERY CHEAPLY AVAILABLE TO US THAN USA , THANKS TO OUR BELOVED FARMERS. 2- PIZZA IN INDIA IS VERY EXPENSIVE THAN USA AND OTHER FOREIGN NATIONS. FOR COMPARISON TO UNDERSTAND PRICE RATIO IN BETWEEN INDIA & USA FOOD PRODUCTS PLEASE REFER BELOW; PRICE IN % ---- PIZZA ---- ORGANIC HEALTHY FOOD GROCERY ITEMS INDIA ---- 80% ---- 20% USA ---- 20%. ---- 80% DUE TO REVERSE PRICE GAP YOU CAN SEE THE MARKET SHARE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN INDIA (1.5 BILLION $) & USA (46.7 BILLION $).
India is the only country that accepts the map that you are try to prove. This map that CNBC out is right, because Paksitan currently administers Gilgit balistan and Azad Kashmir. Though India should have that part of the country’s territory
Firstly dominos pizzas are much affordable than Pizza Hut. Secondly, I am pretty sure that they will get more success if they tap into vegan pizza options. India has a huge potential for vegan businesses, considering 30% are vegetarian, and most non-vegetarians eat meat only 2-3 times a week. Many consumers are inclining towards plant-based options.

@Kayla Nguyen but we don't even have as many slums as the Western media shows. That's the point. I'm not even talking about resistance to germs.

Adding my 2 cents. Domino's is popular because of following reasons.
1. Lot of marketing and advertisement in the initial days
2. Use of local ingredients and Development of localised tastes suitable to local pallette
3. Lot of veg options keeping vegetarian people of India and including those vegetables
4. Lot of spicy, cheesy and interesting combos rather than dull & blunt & dry flavour of Pizza Hut
5. Low price compared to Pizza Hut
6. 30 Mins quick delivery promised
7. Lot of small & medium stores accessible from any nearyby location by expansion
The delivery app that you mentioned is Swiggy and Zomato, that is recent phenomenon available for all restaurants including pizza hut. However at the beginning Domino's had a dedicated call center number for ordering pizza from home which made it accessible and easy for everyone.
So people started to consider it as a popular tasty fast food rather than proper restaurant dining or meal
they forgot the most important factor: that one scene in Hera Pheri
1:24 that's a wrong map my friend
They r showing it like since this century began
I have learned that there are 430 pizza hut restaurants in India.
But they don't give free pizza when they are more than 30 minutes late.
Wrong they do give free pizza if they're late
Only on premium pizzas
Pizza after 30min has same taste as its cardboard case
sometimes they do.. I'd say probably half the time...
I've got free pizza three times.
Seriously who would prefer to have pizza, when you have the most delicious authentic Indian food there..
Variety dude. Plus most of the times that authentic indian food is cooked at home daily. When you're looking for pizza delivery once a in a while, dominos is a great option.

Yeah true though pizza is as yummy 🤣, Covid be over I want to travel again.
Precisely. I was in my ancestoral town (SriGanganagar) in 2017 and they had a domino's too

They succeeded because they made delicious pizzas among the chains and people loved it. Simple.
IN SPITE OF MAXIMUM MILLENNIALS IN OUR COUNTRY INDIA; TWO MAIN REASONS ANY PIZZA COMPANY WONT SELL PRODUCT IN RATIO WITH POPULATION IS :
1- WE DO PREFER HEALTHY FOOD LIKE VEGETABLES AND GROCERY ITEMS LIKE PULSES, WHEAT, RICE, ETC WHICH ARE VERY CHEAPLY AVAILABLE TO US THAN USA , THANKS TO OUR BELOVED FARMERS.
2- PIZZA IN INDIA IS VERY EXPENSIVE THAN USA AND OTHER FOREIGN NATIONS.
FOR COMPARISON TO UNDERSTAND PRICE RATIO IN BETWEEN INDIA & USA FOOD PRODUCTS PLEASE REFER BELOW;
PRICE IN % ---- PIZZA ---- ORGANIC HEALTHY FOOD GROCERY ITEMS
INDIA ---- 80% ---- 20%
USA ---- 20%. ---- 80%
DUE TO REVERSE PRICE GAP YOU CAN SEE THE MARKET SHARE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN INDIA (1.5 BILLION $) & USA (46.7 BILLION $).

It is extremely hard to find local pizzerias that can even match the subpar quality of Domino's even if you pay premium to the local "freshly" made pizza. Almost all my local pizzerias are good awful and take cost cutting to new levels. The inconsistency in taste is abysmal to say the least at least with Domino's I know what I am about to be served.
