Right i was mind blown! Was expecting it to blow our ear drums out but no sir! She is nice and tame thanks to those turbos. Thanks so much for the feedback (:
3rd?? Man, I'm looking to get my first one but my responsible, financially conscious adult self tells me I should get either a Q7 or Q5 with diesel engine. Please talk me into getting an Allroad lol
I only have downpipes rn because I've been to lazy to weld up the rest of the exhaust and it's not a daily and even then with windows up, you can't hear the exhaust idling and barely driving
I'm so glad you asked. We picked up the Audi for 600 bucks a few years ago when cars were cheap, and it needed a bit of love to get road-worthy. The mini was bought for over 10 times that price but is much newer and didn't need any work or repairs. Overall I'd say they are very similar cars to maintain. The Audi is faster with its 2.7t V6 engine and has considerably more trunk space. On the other hand, the Mini gets better gas mileage with the 1.6t L4 and is far more nimble/handles better. I don't think I could say that one is better than the other, it really depends on what you wanna use it for. Emily loves driving the Mini and Cameron loves driving the Audi.
Did you buy and install new flex pipes? And what size did you end up buying (diameter and length)? Mine are also rusted through so I'm trying to outline the list of parts first.
No, we didn't end up buying new ones...we just welded in solid pipe. We tried looking at local part stores but no one quite had the right sizing we needed. I believe they are 2" diameter by 4" long. Let me know what you figure out :)
@@TheDeadCylinders Thanks brother! I'm in a weird spot where I have a 2.5in Miltek exhaust (including cats) ready to go in BUT the cats side is using a V-clamp. So on the downpipes side, I am trying to figure out how to mate the two sides (downpipe + new flex pipe + weld 2in to 2.5in V-clamp adapter + then new exhaust).
@@njcentral Ohhhh gotcha. yeah that is a weird situation but that will be sweet once you've got it all assembled! I know in our experience there is not alot of room up at the top of the down pipes (thanks audi...) So for us doing the welds down at the origional flexpipe location made the most sense because it was way easier to access.
I miss Ko3 spool but this sounds like a APB motor mine was tame too with 3in downpipes and straight pipe the rest of the way but my BEL car same exact exhaust way louder but no spool sound thru the Ko4s
So after wrestling twice with those maddening flex pipe, it ws when I decided enough ws enough & went with pulling the 4 cats ( they didn't scratch or scream .. lol ) & sourcing out 2.5 inch stainless steel tubes & bends, clamps, 6 inch circular flow thru mufflers & polished tips. Turbo back dumping into XS-Poer downpipes into 2.5 inch tubes flowing into the mufflers & out into polished tips.. No X pipe since its beneficial in naturally aspirated V8 or V6 not for forced induction motors.. Although supercharged would be different since the forced induction is not part of the exhaust system.. I did install my X-pipe @ first but took it out & preferred the result without... So I measured cut & fitted the entire exhaust for under $600...
@@TheDeadCylinders Yes performance increased, sound lets just say bridges & tunnels are so much more fun now.. It cn be loud but only when stepped on which is wht I wanted. I chose no resonator because I feel the resonator is exactly why there is a drone.. But with. tiptronic the TCU / ECU settings pull it into 5th @ 2-2500 rpm so there's no wy to get out of this mode unless I'm always shifted into manual sport mode.
I’ve got a really nice one I’m thinking of selling. Just replaced the entire air suspension. Temperature controlled garage kept its entire life. Interior like new. 154k miles. Not a single leak on the car, everything been gone through. Bought it from the original owner a couple months ago as a fun little project to see if I could replace it myself. Pm me if want any more info.
Cant believe how quiet the 2.7 is with literally no exhaust. Awesome video!

Its alot louder with just downpipes. Downpipes with and x-pipe and cherry bombs sounds good.
That's because no cat delete .. mine is and have a Y shape difusor with the rear muffler .. sounds amazing
The older audi alroads are literally my grandmas favourite car 😂
Your gma has great taste!
Just bought an 01, my 3rd

Nice! Keep more coming.
Thanks Homie :) we aren't planning on stopping any time soon
Sounded a bit Lamborghini Diablo at 6:42 .. noice !!!
Hahaha thanks man! It sounds surprisingly good
cool video, im watching from poland
Hello from across the world :) Thanks for the comment!
God the more i watch this video the more I realize how freaking collapsed that rear suspension was lmao

What's better. The Audi or the mini?

That's great man! sounds like a really solid setup! Did you notice any difference with the x-pipe versus without? (sound, performance, etc...)

I want one of these so bad but it’s so hard to find one in good condition
