Playing catch up with some of your videos. Really excellent way to turn a vase. I think that I can tackle something like that. Thanks for sharing your valuable skills Carl. Enjoy your weekend.
Hi Carl i thought i would look over your channel as i hadnt seen it in a while, i noticed this vase and thought it was really interesting how you produced this. Reminded me a little of my own vase. Alex
Hi Alex, I saw the vase you made on your channel and it was great. I had one of my subscribers ask me if I knew of a different way to make vase like this. I watch alot of your videos and you are doing an awesome job. Keep up the good work. Carl
Very good! I didn't know where that was going so the end was a pleasant surprise. I'll have to try this after I get my workshop rearranged (again) and draught-proofed and my NEW stove put in... WOOHOO, no more -8C inside when it's -2C outside (old, solid wall building, acts like a storage heater in Summer and a fridge in Winter). Best Wishes, Brendan.
Carl, this was an amazing cool video. I have a bucket full of hope, lol... to take and use up my boards. Nice walnut and padauk boards. Very nicely turned.
I loved this idea I was given some 12 oak skirting board from a friend so I tried making a vase in the same way it turned out really nice and now sits on the side board , so many thanks my wife actually has something I made she likes lol
Hi Susan, I'm going to do another vase this week and I will get into the details. This was my first one so it was just trial and error. Can you send me a picture of the box so I can see what type of finial to make? Thanks, Carl
Thanks for making the video Carl. It never occured to me to do it as a glue up but it turned out very nice. Something a little different from what you normally turn. I agree with the post about the asian influence, or maybe having it staged in front of the bamboo made it seem that way. Bob

Hi Brendan,
Glad to hear about the new stove -8C is to cold for turning.
Carl
I launched out in wood turning four months ago after fifty years in joinery and general woodwork. Thanks Carl for your passion and great ideas.

Thanks, hope you get back behind the lathe soon.
Carl
Hi,
Yes the wax and oil is for the sanding dust and I use it on all the
grits. Not on a glue up. The chuck is a Nova.
Thanks,
Carl

Thanks Nic,
@cheaben3 I've never had it break. I've had the waste block break and the glue still hold.
Hi Jake,
It's just regular hot glue I got it at the craft store.
You are very good at turning. Good luck.
Thank you Svein

Foster1776 Thank you
Carl you should redo this project with your Robust :) and new toys be interesting to see how you would do this differently.
when you glue the wood to waste piece, how long do you have to wait for hot glue to dry out before you start working on lathe?
@haydenHD
Thanks Carl,
i think you made a relly good job of the vase and was able to refine it unlike me.
Thanks agian
Alex
It's 12" by 36"
I let it dry for 2 or 3 min
does the glue bond ever break while turning?
