Yea that belt is probably pushing enough grunt to rip your arm off
@@jonathanoxlade4252 😬😱
That is why he pulls his arm out. Mel Gibson's jacket sleeve caught on the belt slightly and the engine stalled out.
@@jonathanoxlade4252 Thing is, in the first movie that supercharger wasn't functional and wasn't being driven by the engine. This was so they could do the effect of pushing a button to turn it on/off.
He actually did get his sleeve caught, but he played it off
Kocham ten fragment filmu...prawdziwa radość:)
This car is probably my favorite in all of fiction. The roaring v8 beast, last of its kind, that helped Max get his revenge in abundance.
In a world where Gasoline is scarce, it makes sense to put a supercharger on a V8.
Well gasoline may be scarce, but homicidal maniacs aren't.
And no one settles for turbochargers
@@matthew_natividad at the year mad max was made turbo tech literaly wasnt there
Thing sounds like jet engine starting up
Yea, except the sound doesn't quite match with Barry turning the key.
@@C598corvette it doesnt!
@@uazhar2013 could've had him flip a switch and that be the sound of the high pressure pump, then turn the key.
@@C598corvette Loll, the sound was obviously dubbed in. The supercharger is fake and it had a standard 351 with a mechanical fuel pump.
@@billgates1682 I know it was dubbed in. I guess I'm expecting it to be a tad more in-sync with the key turn. But it was a very low budget film, so I really shouldn't fault them for it.
And then Don Felder Take a Ride starts playing.
I bought the Heavy metal soundtrack on cassette, just for that tune.

plot: the world is out of gas
also plot: HERES A CAR THAT GETS 3MPG
Correction, 2 gallons per minute of idling. May or may not be an exaggeration, carburetor engines are terrible.
I tuned my dad’s Ford 390 with 4:10 gears to get 13 miles to the gallon with a Holley 2bbl.
This is the first movie, which was pre-apocalypse
The start up always gives me chill. The sound it amazing
When the car salesman talks you into it when your just browsing.
Thank you dearly for posting this...
I’ve always loved supercharged V8’s.
Especially the F&F Dodge Charger!
This scene was filmed in the Melbourne University underground car park. The cone shaped pillars have trees above them and the cone has space for the tree root system.
Nice info Bruv😀
if anyones wondering what the point of the yellow bucket was, the air scoop in the first film wasn't actually attached to the engine and was powered separately, and this was covered up by the bucket, for the second film they fixed that little issue
nothing to do with the "scoop" u mean the belt and supercharger
Tommy Orr Jr I know very little about cars, or any of the technical terms
That Blower whine ❤❤❤❤ made me fall head over heels for cars ever since I heard it when I was just 7
She th-thucks nitro!
His last friend (a dog too) whom he could trust, with whom he felt calmer on the road. Although the car detonated due to a trap set by Max, it looked like the Interceptor sacrificed himself to save his owner...
Brilliant. Although i watched this for over 30 years, before i actually noticed Goose was pulling a funny face as Max answers him at the end...lol.
OMG. Never noticed !!

Oh crap I didn't notice that before how funny(face)!!!!!🤤
freefallnick Wow!! Never saw that before!!
The birth of the road warrior : excellent, the legend begins !
This is becoming more true has Tesla cars are taking over.
Yeah , no Tesla's market share out of the US is laughable
No Tesla car can replace this Interceptor masterpiece!
Imagine a remake of Mad Max using a Tesla. Just for laughs.
@@ralphpaez3513 They can in acceleration. (Until they crash into a parked emergency vehicle and kill people...)
I love Barry's enthusiasm explaining what he's built. Like it's his crowning achievement. In reality a stroked out 351 with a functional blower and a 100 shot of nos this really could have produced 600 horses.
This one scene explains everything I loved about the movie
“She’s the lasta the V8s!” ….. “600 horsepower through the wheels with the blower!”
The MFP garage mechanic, “Barry,” is one of the more under-appreciated characters in the film. It was the details of his garage-scene dialog here, introducing Max to the supercharged V8 MFP Pursuit Special, that helped create the apparent invincibility of the car. Not to mention its legendary carry-over status in Mad Max 2 (a/k/a The Road Warrior).
Thumbs up for the original Aussie dialogue
Hab die Scene im Kopf ,ich war ca 11 und mein Nr 1 Videofilm bei meinem Onckel werde diesen schönen Tag nie vergessen
Man, Max's face when they were telling him about the engine, reminded me a LOT of Airforceproud95

Barry is a God! He built the interceptor!

Honestly, that kinda reminds of the introduction to the Batmobile from “The Batman”!
I wonder if anyone ever noticed the similarities between an old film called "Dirty Mary Crazy Larry" ( Peter Fonder & Susan George ) they take a police man into a garage & start up engine on of hot police car to find & apprehend them , Reminded me of this scene & its a pre dates Mad Max , a couple of other things are similar too ( mabey G Miller saw this & was inspired ) ??
I LOOOOVE THIS CAR!!!!!

600 h-horsepower through the wheel
600 HP! Even as someone who is not a car guy, it is inspirational in itself.
Gotta love that MFP interceptor!
Zer0Mercy83 such a beautiful car. I’m not a car guy at all. But the shape, the sound, the colors. They’re absolutely beautiful to look at. One of the best openings to any action movie ever. An amazing car chase.
The way "600 hp to the wheels" comes out of left field mixed in with a scrambling of other comments is absolutely magnificent
Bought a 68 Camero SS back in the early 80s replacing the blown engine no thanks to the previous owner…always had this scene in my head while puting a new stock engine in her trying to put some life into her. Still kicking my own ass selling it.
My dream car...
All of us gear heads can relate brother. I would have a mansion money wise in the cars I’ve sold. But man at the memories and friends I’ve made. I’m headed in for my final build and I’ll have her till I kill over. I’m too old now to sell my toys.
I like how they even have the seats covered in sheets as well as the fenders while they work on her. I've never worked with anyone who cared that much, I hope to some day.

Great film.
Max's car was awesome looking.
I only just now рroрerly made out the words ''Twin overhead cam'' and this car just got about three times cooler to me.
It's just Ford ohv 351 Cleveland with a fake blower.
I love that they step directly over what would appear to be a rocket car so they can slobber over a cobbled together Falcon.
Its easy to be spellbound by this car and its supercharged V8 :D
This kitt and the delorean time machine just absolute iconic cars
One my absolute favorites, seen it dozens of times. I prefer the Australian accent version but the dubbed version gives it that campy feel.
There's a dubbed version? Are you f'ing kidding me?

I still forget the first Mad Max isn't even "Mad Max" yet.
I wish I had one of every car in Mad Max, Especially this Black Interceptor!!! It is my most favorite car.
This is how we’re going to feel here in the next couple of years the people like me that kept their muscle cars will be the last of the V8s sadly
It's happening already..
My favourite movie car.
