    Does any of you got one of these pedals? I have a Drive Master, it is awesome. A lot less expensive, and it sounds the same as the Guv'nor. Of course the tone of the amps he is using at the beginning before he clicked the pedal on, sounds the best to me, that classic huge Marshall tone. We can not all afford a stack like that, so the Guvnor has good tone, a lot of guys say they like the Marshall Blues Breaker pedal the best of the Marshall pedals. It is definitely way more expensive.

    I bought mine back in 1996...Didn't know that I was buying something that deserves respect.
    I've tried a lot of other pedals since then, bought others but ended up thinking The Guv'Nor has something special.
    It has the Marshall Tone inside. Make no mistakes. If you dial the knobs the right way, this pedal has a huge Tone.

    What’s ironic is most boutique pedals ARE a guvnor or bluesbreaker pedal with a few addons or circuit changes to make them better at this or that. You can trace the JHS angry Charlie to the MI Audio Crunch Box which is a Guvnor clone itself so essentially the JHS is a clone of a clone! Lol

    • @richardharrold9736
      @richardharrold9736 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      At least most clones are honest about it, but JHS is a liar who even steals PCB layouts - and his pedals are funding an extremely homophobic 'church'.

    • @DMSProduktions
      @DMSProduktions 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What church would that be and where is the connection?

    • @richardharrold9736
      @richardharrold9736 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      International House of Prayer, Kansas City. Joshua Heath-Scott is, contrary to his mendacious denial on his website, still involved in the church. He gave a now-deleted interview for them (it's still on the Wayback machine) where he discusses how he's funding them, and the church webstore still carries albums he's made for them. They were substantially involved in lobbying the Ugandan government to criminalise homosexuality, resulting in the 2014 Anti-Homosexuality Act, which originally made it an offence punishable by death. The Ugandan government climbed down on that and reduced it to merely life imprisonment.

Gary used it more as a clean boost than anything else, and pretty much all the gain pedals he used that way too, like the Bad Monkey pedal and the Tubescreamer Classic pedals he also used. There are two version of the MK1 Guvnor, the original was made in the UK, and the second one which looks identical was made in Korea. I have the Korean one luckily enough. Awesome stuff .

    Great sound! Unfortunately I dont have Gibson guitars in my collection. So, the first question is: What do you think, if I'll try to use that pedal on my ESP XTONE PC-1V (Seimore Duncan Alnico 2 p.u.) the output will be good enough? And the second question is: How it will go with FENDER PERFORMER AMP? I asking because GIBSON & MARSHAL probably sounds GOOD, but my equipment is a little different. Thank you!

      +Zigfrid Washburn Thanks, I think your Guitar is going sound very similar to this one, maybe a bit brighter. I haven't tried the Performer but the speakers are the most important factor for me. Marshall tone is very much the sound of Greenbacks. Cheers Johan

  • @larrygeetar9309

    I want one. Now.
    Just would like to hear it with some smaller amps.
    It's unrealistic these days for 90% of us (especially regular
    gigging musicians) to even consider using a full on Marshall
    Stack. I have a '69 half stack that I lent to my friend who does
    a Hendrix tribute and it's incredible sounding - but only in a venue
    that can hold the volume. Plus, I'm never going to carry one of
    those again! I'm 70, not 30, even 50. There are many great smaller amps
    that benefit from good pedals and it would seem that would be
    a useful demo with The Guv'nor. Killer sound, though. I can hear
    that Marshall nastiness to the max.

    I agree: the original Marshall Gov´nor (Made in England) is a great pedal. You would like to hear it in front of a JMP Master or an early JCM800 (I don´t like the 2. Generation), but I´m shure you´d love to play the big black Bluesbreaker Pedal in front of these amps (Volume and Gain full, Tone to personal taste). The Bluesbreaker, the Drivemaster and the Shredmaster are great pedals too, only a few years older.

    I have 7 of these (all made in England) in my collection and use them regularly. One of them has the earliest S/N I've ever seen. So anyway what you hear in this nice video is the pedal acting more as a booster really which in my opinion is the best use for them. And by the way even a boss metal zone plugged into this awesome rig would sound like heaven (&hell) haha. I don't really like the sound of them into a totally clean amp especially if high gain is required. Moreover, the Korean made mk1s sound very nice too.

    Nice tone.
    But, the slighty dirty marshall stack (and cab) gives the most of it.
    In my set up i am using the guvnor 2 (with some mods) and i have glorius results.
    The guvnor is the pre distortion-marshall flavor eq before an AMT ss11 and champ clone with well broke in and litlle dope remove v30 (thanks to Johans an another Swidish friends video about speaker dope).
    I havent test the mk1 version but with a good set up the guvnor 2 is sweet alternative!
    Also...sorry about the out of topic....i would like to ask your opinion about the EH Melathron..
    Is it any good?

    • @JohanSegeborn
