- We knew his retirement was coming a long time before it happened. It was official once his contract ended in 2024.

Fun fact, Voracek actually got hired as a commentator/analyst by the czech sports channel that does the official broadcast for IIHF Worlds. He did especially great as a colorcaster paired with our legendary play-by-play guy Robert Záruba, the feedback was overwhelmingly positive.
Robert Záruba
Yes Kuba is great
Him, Simmonds, and Giroux was the core I grew up with and will forever be my favorite.
Timonen also
I am a huge Simmonds fan when he was a King. As a Kings fan, I was devastated when we traded him and Braden Schen for Mike Richards. Funny how that worked out as we had the elation of watching our Kings win the Stanley Cup!
@@paules0099 I had the same reaction when he was traded to nashville. I do like that Kings cup team, bunch of good flyers on that team.
Fun fact. In one of the interviews, Jakub mentioned y he left Columbus in the first place. He disagreed with the new coach, he didn't like his attitude and his picking up on some players. He stood up to the coach so they traded him. Jake was never afraid to say everything direct.
One of my all time favourite flyers!!! He may not have played “flyers hockey” but he was so skilled and smooth.
my favourite all time
Yeah, he played “Blue Jackets” hockey.
That’s where you play well enough to get traded away from that shit-show franchise. Who’s their new coach again, is it Ralph Krueger?
@@GizmoBeach What did Mr mean Vorachek and the blue jackets do to you that causes you to hate on him randomly on TH-cam comments?
Lmfao grow up. Your hate won’t stop the goals he scored, or millions he made.
While Voracek was an excellent player for the Flyers, he will always be loved for calling the reporter a weasel and saying it doesn't matter what I respond, you'll write (expletives deleted)
Love Jake, was so happy to see him calling games at the Worlds.
He and Giroux were a mainstay in Flyers hockey for years. They need to develop some new stars now.
Voracek also did live commentary for the WC games this year, and he was a lot of fun.
And this year, he was also color commentator for Czech televison at this year's world champioship. I loved him, how enthusiastic he was, he had great lines with lots of emotions.
Also Pavel Francouz was an expert in studio for the Czech televison as well.
"už můžu, Robe?"

You forgot to mention Voracek's incredible drinking ability
I loved Jake mainly because he was great with fans and just a very likable guy. He was a highly skilled player and while in Philly my only wish was he was more comfortable with taking the shot. Often, Giroux and Jake would play hot potato on a 2 on 1 instead of putting the puck on net. Again, Philly has needed a goal scorer for years but that's no fault of Voracek. Wonderful player and a wonderful career. I wish him well in retirement.
Nice seeing a Flyers Jersey!
It’s seems like it’s been a few since I’ve seen one. Jakob was a good solid player. I enjoyed watching him play and played with passion!
So many players I grew up watching in the late 2000s and 2010s are retiring...
Absolutely loved his play. I remember being very upset when the jackets traded him away, then pleasantly surprised when we got him back. Thanks for the video!
these career videos are fantastic thx brother
As a jackets fan I did not like trading him away in the deal for Carter, felt like they gave up on a developed talent just as he was hitting his stride with the team. Might of been better if they had traded for a player that stayed in columbus for more than half a year, but we missed out on primed Jakob and that sucked!
btw he was one of the commentators at the hockey worlds, including the gold medal game
Voracek was the man! Him, Simmonds and Giroux were always a fun watch.
We almost had one of the most ironic things in hockey happen (and it would've happened without Voracek's injury) that Flyers fans nearly saw Laine, Gaudreau, Voracek, and Provorov on a powerplay together...just it wouldn't have been for the Flyers.
I remember playing NHL 10 or 11, Voracek and Nikita Filatov always became monsters for CBJ.
I remember Voracek with guys like Kyle Turris, James Van Riemsdyk, etc. in the draft class covered by Gare Joyce’s book Future Greats And Heartbreaks…
As a Pens fan, he was always a pain in my side, but he was also a guy that you'd love to have on your team.
currently best commentator in the Czech Republic :D
He was fantastic for us and I'd venture a guess he'll be in the Flyers hall of fame probably this coming season. Wayne Simmonds too.
When I got into hockey in 2013 he was a favorite on my flyers, but the effort after signing his massive contract (8x8) dropped off and a 60 point winger who didnt score goals or play defense became a liability, sad that his career ended on a sour note tho
Yet another great player who retires
An assist man. When he left JVR numbers in Philly dropped to. No one to hurl passes to front of net
oh i liked him ,always took him for assists in my pool .
I’m gonna miss Jake Voracek As a flyer.
I won’t
I was present when he got drafted by Columbus and was one of my favorite Jackets both times when he was in Columbus. Too bad concussions got him in the end.
He was one of my favorite Blue Jackets players ever. So sad he got traded away to the Flyers in 2011, in that awful awful trade.
More and more players are retiring around 35. 20-15 years ago, 40 seemed to me as the sweet spot. Whats happening?
I love ginger players for the flyers it’s perfect. Like Owen Tippet now
I would love to see him come back to the Flyers as an assistant to take over their woeful power play coaching. You could cook pancakes on Rocky Thompson's seat after how abysmal they were this year.
Voracek’s birthday is the same as mine, always liked the guy.
If he’d have been born on the 14th or 16th, wouldn’t give him the time of day. 😏
first time I saw him play for the mooseheads he was heads above the other players on the ice....and showed he was a future star but sadly never lived up to my expectations and was not as good as I thought he would be
Hi there could you maybe do a career video on zetterberg
I wonder if he ever dropped the gloves ??
I ive notice that Jakub Voracek and Jeff Carter retire as former Flyers
Anyone who gets drafted by, or traded to Columbus, usually have a quick short career. Theres rare exeptions of course. It not a place to go. More fuel to my argument that Columbus needs to go. Give Houston the franchise
I know Blue Jackets fans vomit at the Jeff Carter trade.
Running out of content, huh? Haha
I do NOT like Jakub Voracek
Why?
Did he take your lunch money?
Settle down Blake
