Incorrect. He is well known for being a cheap shot expert. Ever watch him play live? I've seen him for years sucker punch the Sedin twins. He is most definitely not who I'd ever want my kids to follow as an example. Joe Sakic would be that person.
that was a gorgeous pass and goal. One of my favourites alongside his fight with vincent lecaviller forgive my spelling i am terrible with spelling LOL.
The amount of 82 game seasons for Iginla is unreal. As a Canucks fan he was the one guy that we all knew could decide that he's going to win the game against us throughout the 2000s
If he was coasting in a game.. don't wake him up. If someone pissed him off, the show was over. Dude was capable of grabbing a game by the throat and making it his own.
I am die hard Canucks fan, born and raised in B.C, which makes me a natural rival of the Flames and boy do I ever hate the Flames. Always have, always will, despite the fact Calgary is a great city. That all being said, Iginla was one of those players who rightly earned universal love and respect from all hockey fans, including his opponents. Such a wonderful person in multiple ways, he was a major asset to the teams he played with both on & off the ice. And we all remember the moment when Crosby yelled “Igy!” to which Iginla made one of the most famous passes in hockey history.
I recently watched some highlights of him from 2000 - 2004, I forgot how much of a force he was in his prime years. He would score 50 goals, hit like a 4th line grinder, fight anyone and act like an enforcer, and defend well.
He may have only played a few seasons in an Avs sweater but all of Colorado loves him and would gladly see his Jeresy up there with Bourque. He may be a Flame but there is no words how much of an impact he made in the Colorado fanbase
One of the greatest, if not the greatest power forward to ever play the game of hockey. Stand up person as well, it’s terrible he was a missed goal away from adding that Stanley Cup to his resume
Trevor Linden’s final NHL game was against Calgary. Iggy brought the team back out to shake his hand. Linden told him he was the best player in the game. That was the 2008 season when he had 50 goals. Iggy was such a class act. Love how he had his teammates show that respect.
I've never seen a player whose on-ice personality contrasted so much from off-ice. Such a beast on the ice and one of the nicest people off it. I really think should've won the Hart in 02.
Crazy to see his stats when you factor in who he played with. Iginla was an absolute beast who took over games, wish he would of got that cup. All time favorite player.
Great player. That trade turned out to be pretty solid for Cgy eventually. I think he should have won Hart in 02 and when he was at his best he had the ability where he could just flip the switch and dominate. Somewhat underrated and seems to be a great rolemodel.
I know Calgary fans think that they were screwed over in the '04 SCF against the bolts, but I remember Jarome Iginla best for his fight against Vinny Lecavalier in Game 3. He was a great player and deservedly got into the Hockey Hall of Fame,
An incredible athlete that represented the sport/league well and a consummate professional. If you remember Iginla, you have to remember the off-ice smile and the incredible drive on-ice. Easily one of the most complete players in recent memory when you factor in the leadership.
Iginla will always have a special place for me. Being the leader of the Flames as I became a fan of them in my youth (and they still are my favourite western team to date) and also him being a major part of the most memorable goal for me that I have watched live. Crosby, on the ice with Iginla, Iginla, Crosby SCORES! The Golden Goal! The only other time I launched out of the chair in celebration like I did for that goal was when Hornqvist scored in the 2017 finals to clinch the cup.
This video is amazing, but I'm shocked the man's full name wasn't mentioned: Jarome Arthur-Leigh Adekunle Tig Junior Elvis Iginla. A hockey player name if there ever was one.
I'm a Canuck at heart but I'm a big fan of Iginla. Stand out player. Whenever he was on the ice he was always dangerous in every aspect of the game. Have you ever done a Pierre Turgeon video? Would love to see a career video of him. He was overshadowed by Gretzky, Lemieux and Yzerman but he had amazing numbers during his time.
Iggy played 1/2 of the most productive years of his career being the best player of the “dead puck era”. Had he played in the 70’s or 80’s or had his career start a decade later like ovechkin he would have eclipsed his already impressive totals. He also had no elite forwards to play with and help his numbers get fat. And he did it all as a person of colour which added additional challenges we can only guess at. If I had to build the perfect player from scratch I would get Jarome Arthur-Leigh Adekunle Tig Junior Elvis Iginla. I met the man at his arena dedication in Edmonton and he was gracious with his time and you could tell how much hockey and his fans have meant to him. Iggy is a champion in every sense of the word and deserves the accolades. The Stanley cup may not have his name on it….but his fans know the puck was in and his name is on it in our hearts.
Those have been already done, look it up :D i think he has also done these on some of the Gordie Howe's kids. If you are interested he has done a WHA season by season history series and its dope.
Not only one of my favorite hockey players all time but one of my favorite Canadian's of all time. Everyone remember someone screaming "IGGY" before a big goal? I do! Canada Gold!
As a flames fan there are a ton of players that I've called my favourite current Flames player but there is only going to be one that I will call my favourite all time flame and there's no doubt that it's Jarome Iginla. The guy was so impactful on the ice, he was an offensive beast, he took his team to places we had no business being in and his determination was incredible. He wasn't the flashiest players, he wasn't the most skilled, but fuck was a beast on the ice. If he seemed invisible on the ice, the opposition better keep clear of him because you don't want to wake up that monster, because he'll first fight you on the ice and then he'll beat you on the scoreboard. He is exactly the type of player you want on your top line and he's the exactly what you want as a leader, everyone in the league respected the shit out of him and no one wanted to fuck with him because even though he was one of the best players during his time he'll still throw off the gloves and rarely if ever loses. When I think about the perfect hockey player I think about that one picture where he's got his mask off, he's got blood under the one eye, the mouthpiece is hanging out of his mouth and you know the other dude is probably not looking to go ever again with Iginla. He was a beast and probably still is.
It is difficult to have respect for any player on your Provincial Rival but I definitely expect Oilers fans to respect the hell out of Iggy. I hate most Oiler players but there definitely are some I respect the hell out of!
He was a Bruin for 1 year but the whole city of Boston wished he coulda re-signed after that. He made an immediate impact, consistent all year long and came to play every night
Never a fan of any team he played for, but 1 of those rare players you'd pull for to get a cup. Came to play every night and gave his money's worth. Sadly joins that group of greats that the cup just eluded.
Of all the players I've seen play, he was one of the most deserving of a standing ovation by all opposing fans. Probably the most honourable and respectable player I've watched in the past 20 years.
One of my all time favorite players. Living in Pittsburgh and in the U.S. Calgary games weren’t on tv (ESPN..etc) which is why I appreciated the NHL center package so i can watch guys like Iginla. He was everything i loved about a hockey player and pretty much what every fan wanted in a hockey player.
I didn’t know much about Ignala till about the end of his time in Calgary and I end up really cheering for 2013 Penguins. Wanted a finals of Chicago vs Pittsburgh sadly never got that. Sucks he never got that ring either but will go down as one of my favorite players
I remember the game Jarome Iginla dominated my Canucks and my idol, Tom Larschied, said as much. Sadly he was fired simply for telling Iginla's domination as it was that night. Amazing player, leader, scorer, Mr. Flame.
It's so weird how he lead the league in goal scoring twice, had 2 50 goal season, but as scoring was lower before the lockout, his 41 goal season was his 2nd league leading goal scoring season. 50 in the 08' season had him 3rd. 70 points guys in the late 90s, early 2000s were elite. Nowadays, 70 points is first line material but not considered as a star. Also, in 2004, with 41 goals, Iginla, Rick Nash and Ilya Kovalchuk were tied for the Rocket Richard. Kinda hilarious to have 3 guys that owns the trophy, and with "only" 41 goals each. lol
One of the few top players on an arch-rival of the Canucks that I really respect. He played hard, stood up for himself, was tough but wasn't overly dirty. It's a shame he never got a Cup ring. There are some many memorable things for me when it comes to Jarome being that he's my favourite player but man the last game with Linden definitely is near the top of the list for me. Two guys who have always played against each other on the rival teams yet we can have our rivalry and we can hate on each others teams for years yet we still respect the hell out of those two guys. Linden and Iggy are just both so awesome!

No denying that he was one of the best, most complete players to play the game. I don't think we'll ever see a player like him again here in Calgary. He is truly missed.
Iggy is a legendary player. An all time great for sure. I was really hoping he'd win a cup with my Pens. Sadly he never won one at all. Any team in any era would take him on their roster.
I knew a girl who worked at a save on foods here who had Jarome come through here check out line when she was working and she was just so stunned that she couldn't even think to ask him for an autograph.
Out of all the hall of fame players that never won a cup... he was one I sooooo wanted to win one... as a Pens fans...I so wish they could have hit it off better and got him a cup

Credit must be given to the enforcers who protect these great skill players. Esrly in their careers, Crosby had Laraque, Ovechkin had Brashear, and Iginla had Iginla.
Morgan Klimchuk busting as the 1st rounder traded for Iginla really doesn’t feel nice as a Flames fan from Regina. He was the Pats’ next good player after Ashton and Weal didn’t really make the league and I was so excited for a Regina born Pat to go to my favourite team. And then he didn’t pan out, and it made the Iginla trade officially horrible. Not a good time
Living in Calgary and in my youth (20 25) I was very fortunate to watch him live many games but the one I remember but shit face was a Hooters bus Flames crawl it's was against Pittsburgh first time watching Mario Lemieux he had 5 or 6pts that night and destroyed Calgary but man was I drunk that night
Jarome Iginla exemplifies the type of player we all want to be, and who we teach our children to emulate...
So well rounded and clutch
Incorrect. He is well known for being a cheap shot expert. Ever watch him play live? I've seen him for years sucker punch the Sedin twins. He is most definitely not who I'd ever want my kids to follow as an example. Joe Sakic would be that person.
My favorite memory of Jarome Iginla is his assist to Sidney Crosby for the OT 2010 Olympic Hockey game-winning goal.
that was a gorgeous pass and goal. One of my favourites alongside his fight with vincent lecaviller forgive my spelling i am terrible with spelling LOL.
You could hear Sid yelling: "Iggy". Iconic moment.
@@miropele1024 I Do not recall that i just recall how excited the commentators were lol. i may have to rewatch it again to see if i can hear that
Crosby, on the ice with Iginla, Iginla, Crosby SCORES! The Golden Goal!
@@brendenstuder6119 Yeah one of those great moments in hockey history two elite players just doing what they do and it is gorgeous.
The amount of 82 game seasons for Iginla is unreal. As a Canucks fan he was the one guy that we all knew could decide that he's going to win the game against us throughout the 2000s

Iggy was and is one of a kind. Not just for his scoring abilities, but also for his leadership and character. That first class smile never faded!
Iginla is the reason that I still love Calgary to this day. I would’ve never cared about the team but he did blast proud. One of the best there is.
I recently watched some highlights of him from 2000 - 2004, I forgot how much of a force he was in his prime years. He would score 50 goals, hit like a 4th line grinder, fight anyone and act like an enforcer, and defend well.
I never get tired of the fun fact that his full name is:
Jarome Arthur-Leigh Adekunle Tig Junior Elvis Iginla
I want to upgrade my welder to a tig.
He may have only played a few seasons in an Avs sweater but all of Colorado loves him and would gladly see his Jeresy up there with Bourque. He may be a Flame but there is no words how much of an impact he made in the Colorado fanbase
Warms my heart that my fave is loved everywhere he went
Imagine if your Avs had him when he was basically a 50-goal scoring version of Tom Wilson in the early 2000s.
One of the greatest, if not the greatest power forward to ever play the game of hockey. Stand up person as well, it’s terrible he was a missed goal away from adding that Stanley Cup to his resume
Pretty sure oveckin is still playing or did you stop watching hockey?
Gordie Howe, Maurice Richard, Mark Messier, and Alexander Ovechkin were all better than Iginla.
Cam Neely
Ovechkin is the best power forward in NHL history in my opinion.
@@oilersridersbluejaysdon’t forget Eric Lindros
Jarome Iginla did everything. What a great player
I'm an Oilers fan, but the Iggy cup run was a beautiful moment. He was such a stud
Not knocking Iginla at all but the Flames losing to the Lightning was one of my most favourite memories.

Can't argue with 625 career goals ✅. Excellent player
Amazing guy and I concur you should be serving Iginla tea during the game so as to keep him slightly less complacent than when he's pissed.
The Iginla-Lecavalier tilt in the finals was something special as well!
I know Calgary fans think that they were screwed over in the '04 SCF against the bolts, but I remember Jarome Iginla best for his fight against Vinny Lecavalier in Game 3. He was a great player and deservedly got into the Hockey Hall of Fame,
Jarome
We were screwed. It was even Gelinas skates, the player who'd ended the last 3 series. It was fate. It was robbed.
Iginla is a legend. I miss him. 🔥

All time fan favourite player together with Kipper. Thanks for the video Shannon!
A dream line
Vanek-Forsberg-Iginla
Hey Shannon, would love to see a career video on Andy McDonald. Such an under rated player
He was left off a Montreal Writer’s Hart ballot entirely, effectively losing the total vote to Theodore iirc.
Dallas traded a future HOF for a Cup. This trade is the very definition of a win/win for both teams
I'm a Canuck at heart but I'm a big fan of Iginla. Stand out player. Whenever he was on the ice he was always dangerous in every aspect of the game.
