I just obtained a honda elite 80 last night; and because of your excellent video I will give her an oil transfusion soon. Thoroughly enjoyed and am grateful for your tutorial.
You are so much better than the manual!! I couldn't find the drain plug before, but with this video, I know where it is. Thanks a million for posting this video
That was really well done , You did a great job on this video wasn't slow wasn't too fast just the right information and easy to follow . Thanks again good job on the video .Thanks .
I just bought an 89 Honda Elite Ch80 for $200 from a coworker. I do own a truck & a car, but since it did run & looked like it had potential & the fact that I was 19 years old when the scoot I just purchased was first manufactured, I thought it would be a cool lil' Project/Hobby/fixer upper etc... to spend the money on to restore the scoot to its original condition. Then I'll pass it on to my 11 year old daughter when I'm done & she tear it cat ragged, lol. Thanks for all your useful info.
Thanks! Your video is great. I have one of these and I have been paying a shop to change the oil. Now I can do it myself. Yeah! This is a great scooter and I use it more than my car at this point. Thanks for the help.
dude...you the man...ive been looking for this info (more like how much oil to refill with) because i filled it over my last 2 oil changes. but this needed to be online a looooooooooong time ago...thank you so much!
thx 4 the fast reply... the bike is in GREAT!!!!! cond and it was well taken care of... I just was not sure if I was over paying for it... like i said the lack of info online is kinda spooky...lol Thanks Again Mike
The reason you don't want to use API energy-conserving car oil in motorcycles is the friction modifiers that may make the motorcycle clutch too slippery to grab. You can use car oil in modern scooters, because the clutch is not bathed in engine oil.
Good shit man. I put a little less then you did when my oil was getting low. Fuccin white massive clouds started blowing out my pipe. I was hell sick haha
@ChaChoRrom For a scoot that old with low miles it sounds like its a reasonable price to me. Just make sure it starts, and runs good before you lay down the money because the fuel systems gum up from sitting, and make sure the tires are not dryrotted since the scoot is older. Tires are cheap on Ebay. I could of bought an older scoot like that with low miles, but i did not wanna deal with aged parts if the scoot sat. Thats why i bought a newer scoot.
Not trying to be a jerk but I just wanted to let you know when you check the oil after filling it you do not screw the dipstick in you simply see it into place without screen and then pull it out to check it if you screw it in you will get a mis red oil fill level just so you know and that goes also for anytime you're checking the level
well thats what the honda and honda clone manual says, so i do that, and ive checked it the way everyone else says to and it shows its low. Think of it this way, when you check the oil in your car you put the dipstick all the way in and pull out, why would it be any different here, same with some mowers, you lock it in and twist then unlock and twist to remove it.
Hey, I had brought mine 2000 black paint, 2 days ago and Im gonna move it from an uncle house like 25 miles, it looks like the muffler got broken and Im gonna repair it before I go. Do you have a tip of what I should look after move it that distance to get sure It will not fail?? Thanks, nice scooter ;D
Hey, I know it's been a few years so you may not have this scooter anymore. But I just bought one recently and need some help finding the spark plug lol. So I was hoping you'd do a video for that? I would realllly appreciate it :D thanks -Ava
Just to let you know your not suppose to screw it all the way In when you check the oil, you are only suppose to put it back in with out screwing it in, if you screw it in you won't get a accurate reading on the oil
As I sit here assuming that is a 1980s scooter that just reached 1k miles I think that oil must be over a decade old! Then I remember they made the Elite 80 up to 2007 and this is a 14 year old video so it must not be that bad. 😄
Hi I could buy a 1988 for $700 and it only has 830 Org Miles one owner garaged kept but im not sure because of the age if it is worth it,,, not alot online about it but maybe you know more then i do.. any info will be great,,, Thanks In Advance
Thank you so much for your help! I am a 71 yr old grandmother who was just able to teach my grandson how to change his oil! Today is 4-14-2024

10W-30
YOU PUT IN THE WRONG OIL. WHICH MEANS I PUT IN THE WRONG OIL.
Which explains all that smoke behind me.
The correct oil is 10W-40
10W-30 should be fine too assuming the temperature where you live doesn't get too far above 90F (~32C)
DUDE the manual says clearly not to screw the dipstick in to check the oil. But other that...good work^^

thanks man.. just changed the oil on my 2007 honda elite today
Really great Oil Change tutorial
Do not screw in the dipstick to check oil. You check Honda bikes by just dunking the stick to the threads without turning in.
Another great video - keep them coming!
great help. loved the sound effects

hey, i always check mine with it unscrewed. no biggie though.
im the 1st related vid! lol
Damn good free funnel.

Automotive 10W40 works fine in most bikes, because it's not API energy-conserving.
Where is vin on 2000 honda elite ch 80?
That was a huge help. Thank you.
its supposed to be screwed in. plus 1oz oil wont burn out the engine

hona and honda clone engines require you to screw it in to get a acurate reading. My quad is the same way.
Hola aún tienes esa moto la élite 80

Hey, I know it's been a few years so you may not have this scooter anymore. But I just bought one recently and need some help finding the spark plug lol. So I was hoping you'd do a video for that? I would realllly appreciate it :D thanks -Ava
