Great video which points out all of the key items without being a sales guy hawking all of the "Specialized" tools which really aren't needed except the truck to run over the breaker bar to hold it! Well done!
2nd time watching....gotta go dump some money on a 27mm and 36mm now!!!! again this video is helpful along with your others.... definitely one of my top 10 youtubers and really appreciate you
ran over the ski rope, just what I needed to see. My impeller has a nice little blue spot and is making contact with the sleeve after removing the rope it sucked in. Hope I didn't bend the shaft, its just one blade I can see has the smallest little blue to it on the edge next to sleeve. Only wish you had gone over replacing the sleeve, I will checke out your other vids, you probably have one on that very thing. Thank you, Excellent how to video. Cheers!
Thank you 👍 changed out my sleeve a couple of months ago. Didn't do video on it because it wasnt a graceful removal lmao it was done with vise grips tapping out from both sides. You'll see once you get into it what i mean. I'm just hoping you're impeller shaft isn't bent.
@@JeTsKi_MiSfItS Thanks Rob. I removed my nozzle and impeller yesterday. The sleeve of mine is in a separate forward housing and is stainless steel. The impeller blades were making contact.... for some time it appears and heated up the stainless and caused some damage. I see replacement housings which have a plastic insert for the wear sleeve, but not all stainless steel. I may be alright on the shaft since all three blades have been in contact and exhibit bluing and lifted edges. I am overdue for some preventative maintenance on these machines. They are kept on a lift. I do regular oil, filter, and plug changes and always wash them down and rinse out on the hose after every run, but the corrosion has begun and fasteners are going to be tight or break on me. Thanks again for the video. Gotta love using the truck tire on the breaker bar as a vise to break the impeller loose. Time to start ordering parts. Cheers!
@@gregboswell2843 I'm glad you're into it. I would definitely go stainless steel wear ring again. Don't forget to grease everything up with marine grease putting back together
@@JeTsKi_MiSfItS Ordered parts, going back with OEM stainless sleeve and factory prop. Mine was worn on all three blades plus heat damaged. Don't think shaft is bent as the sleeve developed a bump from corrosion behind the stainless insert. Yes, I will clean and regrease all bearings. Pulled the cone off and grease in there looked good, clean and moisture free. O-Ring was ingood shape, still soft and plyable too. Bearings feel tight, no wiggle. Going to reuse them. I used a block of wood and small pry bar to loosen the sleeve housing, then wiggled it off without any trouble. Broken steering bolt replacement found. I will polish everything up and put several coats of Mothers on them before re assembly. Thanks Rob, appreciate the follow up.
@@gregboswell2843 I'm glad it all worked out and your going with SS OEM. U can't go wrong with that. U don't really want to beat up on an older ski like that. A very well instructional video. 2 questions, I have a 2019 GP 1800R SVHO, I'm loosing speed at a take off, and the super charger doesn't always engage or engages and then it stops,. 50, 60, 70, MPH cuts out like it went into limp mode. It might engage for 30 seconds and the loss of power thing happens. I'm assuming that the clutch is out or going out in the super charger. Impeller is good, no damage, nothing has been hit. Stage 1 has been installed. What is your advice? , and I'm aggressive rider at 240 pounds, which Solas impeller is best for me? Mods done, Free Flow Exhaust, Water Box, Stage 1, K& M air filter, Ride Plate, Sponsons, Another air filter on top of the engine, all parts from Riva.Thank You for making such good videos!!
13/18 solas should be your prop. Your problem can more than likely be either the clutch has gone (u didn't mention if u have a BOV) or that you're using a k&n air filter. That's an automotive filter. In a marine environment the wire screen will rust & the paper element will disintegrate getting sucked into your SC & motor. Seen this many times.
Sorry, it's an Air filter by Riva Racing specifically for that machine, can't remember the correct name. At this time there is no B O V, but I will be putting one on. I also might install that intake manifold up grade kit, I'm concerned about the flame arrestor turning. Thank you for your time and information and which impeller to purchase. All and any stuff I have done have come from Riva Racing.
@@diveranytime ok so then it's the clutch that went bad on you. Try not to suddenly go from full open throttle to no throttle. That's what kills the clutch especially without a BOV. Gradually let go of the throttle to help extend it's life 👍
I noticed you have a upgraded pump strainer. However, you don't have a extra cooling line. I just bought one from Riva. I thought there would be a plug to have the option to run with or without the extra cooling line. Did you get your own plug??

The impeller actually tightens as u ride. That's why it's so hard to take off if you don't grease it. Just tighten it hard enough so that it doesn't slam itself from leaving it loose
Yes absolutely. Scrape off the old stuff lightly with a wire brush. Not too hard. And apply this. While youre at it do the intake grate amzn.to/3A0bGKr
By the way, your method for removing the impeller is by far the best I’ve seen and I use that method and it worked very good. Thanks for the tip. Also removing the wearing with the vice grips another awesome tip some people were saying they were packing it with dry ice no need for that.
Great video! Everything came off easy. But, Same problem. Drive shaft won’t go back in. Tried to wiggle it etc. it almost looks like the “mid shaft” that it goes into is pointing down a bit do it won’t line up. Clueless on what to do now.
That is exactly how a “How To” video should be done. I don’t know that I’ve ever viewed a better instructional video on any subject.
Thank you sir!
