Keep these videos coming. Can you tell me … I was at the Yamaha dealership trying to order a fx cruiser svho. They told me that you can’t order directly from the factory the Garmin with a thru-hull transducer. Should I get an in-hull transducer or a transom mounted one?
The '23 FX SVHO'S have a built in chartplotter so if navigation is all you need then you may not need the Garmin. If you want some of the other options that a unit like mine can give you then you will need to install one like I did. My SVHO is a '21 model so it has the NanoExcel II hull. The thru hull option worked great for me even though the transducer was meant to go on the transom. Yamaha has since switched back to SMC fiberglass for their hulls. At this point, I don't know how well the transducer will work through the hull that is made of fiberglass. If anyone out there has tried it, I would be interested in finding out how it worked .
@@TheShipsLogg thank you! I will look it up. My wife and I enjoy your videos. We bought ours last year used with 60 hours, At 100 hours on ski is there anything else you’d recommend other than plugs and oil?
Hey captain Frank. I put on my breather kit on and took my ski (2022 FX SVHO Limited) to the lake this weekend. I noticed it was a bit sluggish immediately. It was a very hot, humid day. I could only get to 66mph. Normally I can get to 68 on smooth water. I actually stopped on the water changed the breather to the original configuration. Not sure that made any difference (still never got to 67). The ski has around 65 hours and not due for the scheduled maintenance until 100 hours. I'm wondering if it was the heat. However I don't remember similar issues last year. Let me know what you think. Thank you!
That's interesting. I definitely did not experience that. I assume you did put the cap on the original location where the hose connected. Considering the fact that the problem persisted even after you changed back to the original configuration tells me something else is going on. Fuel? Plugs?
@paulwolfenberger3884 make sure u get gas at a good place..search around a n d stick with that station..and always change Plugs every 25 hours..very easy..do it yourself..save you 200$
I have not noticed anything yet. I have not had to take it off for anything. My guess is that I will eventually have to do so for cleaning or replacement but that will probably be a while.
Is that kit acting as a blowoff valve would? Did you get that air breather from Riva? If not, where did you get it? I have a 2023 FX Limited svho. Do you know if this will void the engine warranty if the dealer sees it?
I did get it from Riva. It does not do the same thing as a blowoff valve. A blowoff valve keeps sudden spikes in boost in your supercharger from wearing your clutch out. Typically, you won't need one of those on an SVHO unless you are a very aggressive rider or you have modded your machine.
i just put a new air filter, ribbon delete and air breather on my 2015 fx cruiser ho and it will crank bit immediately cuts off now and i have no idea why
Just curious as to why you felt you needed to do a ribbon delete on a non-supercharged machine. I'm thinking that may not have been necessary. Was there a tune as well? If not, that may be part of the problem.
@TheShipsLogg lots of people are doing this to non supercharged 1.8's and riva also advises it as an easy upgrade. Most of what I have read says there's no tune necessary on this upgrade so it was not done
@@TheShipsLogg I had put the intake manifold in wrong, I corrected it and it runs beautifully. So with an engine breather an upgraded riva air filter and the ribbon delete my 2015 fx Cruiser Ho got 3mph on top speed and became way more responsive.
Thank you Captain Frank. I just ordered my kit from Riva!
I've done this as well as a few other mods/upgrades to my GP1800R. Great explanation! Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely!!!
Thank you for answering back so fast, I believe I will do the same to mine, I have a 2017 FX cruiser SVHO. Love all your videos, keep having fun.
Thank you!!
Great informative video Frank! See you to tomorrow!!!
Thanks. Looking forward to some good rides this weekend!
Great video Captain! Very informative video keep it up.
Thank you!! 👍🏾
Very well explained. Love your videos.
Thank you!! More to come!
I had that and after a while upgraded to the oil catch can
Interested in knowing how much oil you are collecting in the can.
@@TheShipsLoggprobably none! The oil catch can is excellent for seadoo, but not that much for yamaha svho.
@@Oscar-xc2bx I think you are right. Sea Doo uses a higher boost level in their supercharger which causes more blow by.

Hello, Great video! It’s been 7 months since you performed this. How does that breather look now? Just curious if there is any oil bypassing the fter
Still looks clean. I don't think there is much oil hitting it. Maybe my riding style. I ride full throttle quite often but I'm not aggressive with it.
Do you have video of how to do oil change spark plug change on 2017 Waverunner VX?
I have one for the FX but not specifically for the VX. I think you will find that it is not a huge difference though.

Great Video, can't wait for the next upgrade - Tune ?
Not sure I will do a tune but I know someone who has. I may do one on his.

Have you noticed oil spillage/leakage in the engine bay with this on? How often do you have to take off the filter to remove the accumulated oil?

You are welcome!
Hi, I did install it and I found my fx svho more fuel efficient.
That's awesome! An unexpected benefit!
Did you upgrade the air intake as well?
No. Just the engine breather.
Does it void warranty and can you post a source in description where to get it for the viewers? Thanks
It does not void the warranty and you can get them at Green Hulk or Riva.
Where can I buy one over got the same model as your except mine is red and white?
I got mine from Riva. I think you can also get them from Green Hulk.

Hi, how long the filter will be good? That filter is it washable?
We will have to see how long it lasts. I will definitely be doing an update to let people know.
Thanks a lot

not gonna lie, not often you see a guy with money actually do anything to their own machines.
I think it's important to know your machines. Plus I do enjoy working on them. Besides, I'm trying to keep my money, not give it to someone else! 🤣
