    Today I sent myself on a mission to seek ideas of how to hang my planes. One idea involved a lot of wood cutting and drilling and painting- not what I want or need. Your idea is elegant. Simple, fast and easy on/off. Thanks much, Abby and Nate.

    Had to go back and watch this again. 5 years ago I had 3 planes. Now it’s like 27 planes. 2 pvc racks full, 4 float planes hanging from the floor joists and a bunch of planes scattered in just about every room. (That my wife doesn’t go in)
    Of course it’s the big planes that on the rack- Flightline P-38, ArrowsRC Husky and MiG 29, and the real booger, the Dynam Dr-7 Albatross.
    It was also nice to revisit this video and see Nate when he was 17 years old and clean shaven.

    Hey Nate and Abby, I am fairly new to your channel and have subscribed and I am so glad you made this video. I know it's been several years since you posted this, but my wife was not happy at looking at my planes on the floor, on top of beds, in practically every room in the house! Your idea was brilliant, I just went to pick up some self adhesive wall hangars and some nice thick, but soft yarn that wont cut into the wings and can't wait until I can hang these babies up and finally free up some room to keep the wife happy. A happy wife = A happy life! Thanks again.

    This video showed up in the feed. You posted this when I had an Apprentice 15s, a Dynam Hawksky and a WL Toys SkyKing.
    I know what my basement looks like now with planes everywhere, I can’t imagine what your storage looks like with planes, boats and cars. You must have a warehouse.
    I can’t believe I still have, in one piece, the Apprentice, Hawksky, Timber UMX, Turbo Timber and the 4th SkyKing. Those first 2 years were rough.

    You guys just saved me some time and money. I was just about to head to Lowes to buy some PVC to build a rack. Oddly, I was gonna use the "3M Command" hooks to hang the rack from. I love the Command hooks. We have been using them for many years and appropriately sized, they have never failed. The yarn is the kicker! Thanks! Walt - Kevil, KY

    • @TheRcSaylors
      @TheRcSaylors  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm very happy this saved you money, and a good chunk of time I'm sure! They've been hanging like this since I made this video and none have failed so far. Remember to add some toilet paler, paper towel or some type of padding on your foam wing so it doesn't dig in over time. Happy hanging!

    I learned this from a friend a few years ago.
    PROTIP: If you live in a really hot humid place *cough*HAWAII*cough* you will want to invest in a large corkboard or make sure that you adhere the 3M tabs straight onto the drywall/wood. If the surface is painted in a hot place with a lot of humidity they tend to slough off the wall pretty rapidly. Also clean the surface with rubbing alcohol before affixing the tabs. It helps extend their life a lot.
    Awesome tip!

    • @TheRcSaylors
      @TheRcSaylors  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah good tips Trent! I once tried to use these in our bathroom to hang some decorative things and about a couple days later they fell off the wall due to the high heat and humidity =^/

    Very cool. Have been struggling a bit lately on how to store my first foamy RC plane. Mine's not quite as tidy as yours yet, but I just hung it similarly on my bedroom wall. Great idea, thanks for the video! I used 2.5" nylon webbing straps in an effort to prevent any indentation in the leading edge a rope/cord might cause.

    • @TheRcSaylors
      @TheRcSaylors  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad you like this method GBL :) So I've been using this method for years now (in my cold garage in the winters) and not a single plane has fallen because we hang the hooks up exactly as "Command" explains. Also, the yarn hasn't cut into any foam because I'll fold up a piece of toilet paper to help pad where it's making a physical connection with the plane wing.

    • @GBLynden
      @GBLynden 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've got a couple 20+ pound scale warbirds, what kind of hooks should I use?

      If it were me, I would either install something more permanent, or use a lot of command hooks 👍😁😎👍

    Are there any concerns if your garage is not climate controlled? Too hot/too cold?

      Ours is not climate controlled at all. Still no issues to this day!

    Just seen your video from 2015 about best way to hang your rc planes. Will they work for 12 plus lbs balsa planes? From 6’ to a 9’ ws.

      I will say this: since filming this video, not a single plane has fallen. I would imagine that if you buy the correct hooks (rated for weight) or just double up on smaller ones, it should work just fine 😁👍 Suppose I should say, do this at your own risk, but again, works perfect for me! 😎⚓
